Excellent Safety
This is an excellent unit.I did some serious shopping for a locking box and this is perfect.Durable, reliable and a lot of space.I go away on business trips so often that I need the protection without having to worry about my mail.This is a tough box and a great deal.

The Perfect Mailbox - We Feel Very Secure
We are convinced that my husband's identity theft problem was a result of someone taking bills and other mail from our mailbox and using the information.We were so upset by the incident that we were going to get a post office box.Then we found this mailbox, bought it, and are completely satisfied.We never worry about our mail anymore - even when we're on vacation.We have recommended Mailguard to all our friends and neighbors.

Illusion of Safety
The bolt seems adequate to me, the problem is the hinge mechanism is a joke; I had to pop it into place by hand.A thief could pop this open in 1/2 second.Ironically, the mail compartment is hard to open normally, I will probably need a pry bar just to get my mail.They also only provided 3 out of 4 mounting screws.The flag mounting design is also poor, although I wont ever use it so I don't care.

Update: while attempting to sand down the door so that it would be openable, it fell onto the floor.The top mail slot broke off, and is now unusable; the bottom ("secure") mail door popped off its hinges.This thing is worthless.

Fantastic Product
I highly recommend this mailbox.So well designed and so well made.It carries all the mail of our family of 8 for several days.It cost less than any other locking mailbox I could find.It's good to have this kind of box.I am surprised we haven't had one of these sooner.We love it.

A great mailbox!
I used this mailbox for years when I lived in rural areas and had mail delivery via car (instead of my current in-town, walking-mailman delivery sevice).The best feature of this box is the fact that magazines and large envelopes can lay flat inside - allowing all the mail to stay in better condition.I also really appreciated the "mail's here" flag that pops up when the mailman puts the mail in the box - meaning no more walks down the driveway to find an empty mailbox.This box mounts to any standard 4x4 post or any of the pre-made decorative mailbox posts found in home centers.Though I found this box made of durable, weather resistant plastic, my only complaint was when winter weather got very cold the box would crack if anything bumped into it (such as when it got clipped by a snow plow or a careless neighbor).Other than that small and infrequest problem, for the money I found this to be the best mailbox one could own in rural areas.Highly recommended! ...
