Not well designed
Two problems with this unit.
1. Light from your bulbs sometimes shut this thing off, causing lights to turn off.
2. Will not control a relay so that you can use high powered lights. Won't be a problem for homeowners though.

Good all-around detector
I bought this detector because I wanted to be able to turn on my front porch light when someone drove up in my large yard. I mounted it some distance away from the light fixture. The 3 timer modes, sensitivity adjustment, and photo cell features all combine to make this an exceptional tool in controlling outside lights. See the light only when you there
I installed four of these units - 1 in a hallway and three in individual bedrooms. I had to return one unit because it would not activate even after adjusting the sensitivity setting. Three out of the four I have installed work great! You just walk into the room and the lights come on. You feel funny at first since it is tough to break a habit of turning a light on and off. The last unit I have sometimes does not want to work in the overide mode (not activated by motion mode - just turn on). We like the units - especially with two teenagers. The installation is straight forward. You have to make sure that you are willing to wire switches and understand the necessary precautions while working with electricity (like ALWAYS tturning the circuit breaker off to the light switch you are changing the switch for. ... light hearted
I have two of these, one works great and one doesn't. The one that works is in the attic. No motion and no windows, when I stick my head up, it comes on. The other is in the bathroom and it faces a window. I think motion outside (trees...) turns it on. It was forever coming on in the middle of the night. There are two lights in the bathroom, the motion detecting light has been turned off for four years. I guess it's time to replace it with a regular switch. ... Read more

Item is not worth wasting your money on. Cheap and not what it should be.

Stay Away!!! Stay Away!!! Stay Away!!!
Terrible product. I bought four and one worked for 3 days, then quit. None of the others worker. Also, not packaged well and then had to pay $10 per unit to ship back.

Not worth time/effort or cost. I would give it ZERO stars, but not allowed.

Should be a lemon law for this one
Judging from the other reviews and from my own disappointing experience with this product, it seems like you either get a great light or a solar lemon. I purchased three of these lights two months ago, and not one of them has been as reliable or functional as I had hoped. The set-up process seems to be more tedious than it should be, and once I got them through the initialization procedure, they started failing one by one. The manufacturer was helpful and replaced two of the lights at his own expense, but the replacements promptly failed after only two days of normal functioning. One light morphed into a strobe light when triggered(then died altogether), and the other two work sporadically at best. I bought a similar product two years ago from a solar energy catalogue and it has worked perfectly from day one, so I expected the same quality from this light. If you need a good solar light, save your time and money and look elsewhere.

Don't waste your money
Good idea. Bad design and terrible reliability. First unit was recieved deffective. Returned unit to manufacturer who promised to reimburse me for postage. Replacement unit worked for a month and is now dead as a door nail. Manufacturer never reimbursed the postage as promised. Don't waste your money on this one!

Product did not work and also was poorly constructed
I received the product and followed the instruction for charging. The company recommended that the solar light be left outside in natural day-light for at least two days in order to fully charge. After the two day period, the unit still did not work. Finally, after one week in natural day-light, the light still never worked. I am sure that the one shipped to me was most likely defective; (although, I never got a chance to see how it worked, I was also not happy with the quality in which it was made - thin plastic).
