2-0 out of 5 stars These once came standard with the flex shaft kit
I guess Emerson Electric figured they could make a few more pence selling these as accessories. By using these chucks you will relieve yourself of the trivial task of changing collets, but you will lose the precision and balance of collets in the bargain. These chucks are low-grade stuff indeed; they cause considerable runout and vibration in addition to the obvious clumsiness of their larger size.

3-0 out of 5 stars Nice idea, but not 100%
While I do like the conevience of the chuck, it does not rotate 100% true. This causes a very slight wobble at the tip of any drill bit. I have tried 2 different chucks, but both yield the same results. I only use the chuck when absolute precision isn't required.

4-0 out of 5 stars Awesome time-saver, but not for use with other attachments
I rarely use the standard collet that comes with the tool any more, after buying this item. No more looking for a wrench (which I invariably loose), etc. Beware, though: I took for granted that it would be compatible with my chainsaw charpening attachment. It is not. If you use other attachments, don't expect to be able to use this at the same time. If you don't use other attachments...well...go on to the next review. Well worth the buy, in my opinion

5-0 out of 5 stars Cheap at twice the price
This chuck (which I consider to be essential) greatly enhances the convenience of any Dremel. You might be tempted to save the old collet device this chuck replaces, but before long you will discard it as useless trash. I do a lot of really miniature work and I find the chuck to be great for holding things as small as a 1/64th inch drill. I have one on each of my 3 Dremels.

5-0 out of 5 stars Dremel 4486 MultiPro Chuck.
I don't understand why Dremel doesn't include this great little chuck as a standard accessory with all their Multi-Tools. It is so much easier, faster and less frustrating than fumbling with the tiny collar and wrench that the tools come equipped with. If you change bits on your Dremel often, as most users do, you will quickly come to appreciate the 4486. As for me, the 4486 is comparable to the Flex-Shaft as one of the single most worthwhile attachments available for adding versatility and conveience. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Big Improvement, more features.
Dremel has really upgraded with this new plunge router attachment for the rotary tool. It fits all the usual corded tools and even the new Li-Ion cordless!
Great new features like: Plunge capability, clear base, bigger base, rotary tool mounting is very sturdy and rigid, depth stop, big edge guide that goes all the way to the bit.
The locking handle takes a little getting used to. Because it locks with one handle and plasic was used for the base there is a little flex back after locking. Plastic for the base to be clear is a benefit, but the plastic for the top plate was probably to save cost so they could price it closer to what the old router was. Anyway, when I really want to be accurate with my depth, I make sure to measure the distance from the bottom of the base to the bit with a metal scale. That way I know the depth is what I want. If it was all metal I'd give it a 5, but then the cost would probably keep me from buying it. It's great for the small router jobs I do(signs, door striker plate installation etc.) and I would recommend it! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars I had no trouble
I'm not sure if other people have gotten bad tools or what, because i've had great luck with my circle cutter! it flys through drywall, and i use it to cut out circles in 3/8" plywood for my daughter's room. I had no problems with it at all!

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't buy it!
I tried cutting over 20 circles in 1/4", 3/8, 1/2" plywood and in 1/2" pine stock - just won't cut a clean hole - always tends to spiral towards the end of the cut.
The attachment is made plastic and is not designed to do anything near 'precision work. Maybe its OK for drywall.
The instruction say to rotate the gizmo clockwise but the accompanying picture shows the a arrow going counterclockwise - either way the cut drifts outward as the cut goes to completion. The attachment fits nicely in the Rotozip carring case - I hope the whole thing sells well on eBay. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Just where is the savings?
I refuse to buy this product from you for the following reasons! You advertise that I save $10. by buying a battery pack from you, then charge 33 percent of its value, or $10., in "postage and handling". That makes the $20.00 item cost $30.00. My biggest question is this: How can you possibly charge $10. postage for a tiny, light weight item such as this?

5-0 out of 5 stars A must-have accessory for the Minimite
The Dremel Minimite is a great tool for jobs away from AC power. Its single battery is good for most jobs; but, if the job goes into overtime (over 45 minutes of tool use), this extra battery is an absolute must. Rather than dealing with a dwindling battery at the end (and often most crucial part) of the job, pop in a replacement and finish with gusto!

Off line, while charging one battery in the charger, the second battery convienently sits on top of the charger housing. Number them 1 & 2 to differentiate between the two and you've got a winning pair for any job in the field! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Sharpening I ever had
Previous to spending 10 bucks for the Dremel Sharpening attachment, I was taking my chains to a professional to have them sharpened. It pays to follow the directions in setting up the sharpener correctly, but, once you do, you'll get the BEST sharpening job ever. My sharpening job with the sharpener was far superior to any of the sharpenings that I ever got from a professional. Plus, the professional guys ground an 1/8th inch or so off of the teeth each time they sharpened my chains, when, in fact, all they needed to do was to put a sharp edge on the teeth. The Dremel sharpener works magnificently and gives you a phenomenally sharp edge that will last a long time [as long as you keep your chain out of the dirt!] For the price of this product, it simply can't be beat.

3-0 out of 5 stars Instructions Incorrect!
When a chainsaw is sharpened, the sharpening tool is always referenced to the top of the cutting tooth (see the sharpening instructions from any saw chain manufacturer).

However, on Dremel attachment 1453, front of box, the picture shows the guide riding on the chain's depth gauge instead. Printed instructions on the back of the box (and supported with pictures) confirm this error for both left and right teeth.

To further confuse matters, the instruction sheet inside the box describes a method where the guide rides on top of the tooth for one side of the chain, but on top of the depth gauge for the other side! This is also incorrect, in addition to contradicting the instructions on the box.

Nonetheless, the device works adequately, especially if the user modifies the procedure to cause the guide to ride on top of the cutters for both sides of the chain.

In my opinion, this would become an excellent attachment if the instructions were rewritten, the pictures on the box replaced by correct ones, and the guide manufactured as a mirror image of the one presently sold. This would allow sharpening both sides from the non-engine side of the saw, thereby allowing two more teeth to be sharpened before chain repositioning. On an 18 inch bar this amounts to five rather than three teeth for left side cutters - a 67 percent improvement.

I have e-mailed Dremel with some of these observations, but received no reply!

5-0 out of 5 stars Works Great!
I took a chance that this chainsaw sharpening attachment would do the job on my little Poulan electric chainsaw. It works great! Chains grow dull fairly quickly, particularly when you let the chain touch dirt. This little tool sharpens the chain like new and only takes a few minutes to get the sharpening job done. You can't go wrong. Dremel provides three different size sharpening stones that will accomodate most chains.

4-0 out of 5 stars Much easier than a file
This works much better than I thought it would. Accuracy is equivalent to a handheld file but it's a lot quicker and easier. I don't believe this fits the battery operated Dremel so you have to use it near a power source. Installation on the Dremel tool is vary easy. It takes maybe 15 seconds longer than changing a regular bit. If you have more than one size chainsaw, consider getting two. They are not expensive and you save having to set it up each time you switch saws. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars New Rotozip
The new rotozip is fantastic! The 3-jaw chuck works great (works like my drill). It also comes with a wrench to manually tighten the collet if you prefer to do this. I have been cutting wall tile with the rotozip brand tile bits and they have been breaking on me, which has been frustrating. I switched to a Dremel tile bit, and I have had no problems.

1-0 out of 5 stars Nuts
So, how well does that new wrenchless chuck with the red wheel work? Vizualize the bit falling out twice the first time you cut the sheetrock out of a window opening. Vizualize a tool which NEEDS a wrench, but unlike the previous models is not designed to be tightened with a wrench and provides no place to store a wrench. The wrenchless chuck gives a whole new meaning to the words "reverse engineering".

And BTW, if you had any attachments for your old style rotozip forget em - they won't fit the new models according to the Rotozip website. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Keeping it in place
The D-Vise has become one of the more useful pieces of equipment in my Dremel arsenal. Sometimes you need both hands to work the tool, and you need something to secure your crafting piece. Although I feel that just about any good vise would do an adequate job holding my work pieces, the D-Vise does have a few advantages to it that most bench vises lack: it's relatively small, and it can swivel to just about any desirable angle and elevation.

One drawback is that, despite it's relatively small size, the D-Vise wasn't made to be portable. When I'm doing Dremel tool craft work at various locations, that can be a hindrance. I've gotten around this by securely mounting it to a wide, sturdy two-by-four, and when I need it, I securely vise-grip it to a temporary workbench.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good...........but......
Overall the general purpose bit is pretty good. For the price you can stock-up on them without breaking the bank.

Be careful if cutting through dense woods. The bit heats up fast and can dull prematurely as a result. It you are going to do alot of cutting in dense woods, I recomend you get yourself one of their bits with the carbide burrs (dw6613). It is designed for tile and stucco so, it should not have any problem with hard woods. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

Rotozip spiral saws are popular tools, so it's no surprise that people are also hot after Rotozip bits and accessories. This five-pack of saber-cut bits, which are used to make jig-saw-like cuts with the Rotozip, is always high on our top-sellers list--and why not? The pack offers a nice variety of general-use bits at a very reasonable price. In tests, we ran them through a large variety of wood and composite materials--just about every type of scrap we had lying around the shop--and as long as we didn't push too hard (let the tool do the cutting) they performed like champs. Keep in mind that these particular bits are for cutting wood and composite materials. Rotozip also makes a bit for tile, a carbide bit for concrete board and plaster, and various "guide" bits for cutting around in-wall obstacles such as electrical outlets. --Mark McDonald ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great bits
For Canadians who cant shop Amazon (I can and do frequently)(love Amazon for the great deals)..these are available at Home Depot for the same price..with currency conversion of course and PST GST

5-0 out of 5 stars Go slow and keep your cost low.
The trick to using these bitsand keeping them from snapping is setting the depth guide to just below the outside surface that you are cutting, but slowing down your cutting rate the futher down the bit you go. In other words, when you cut a thin material at the edge of the bit, with the guide set low, cut SLOW as the force is on the end of the bit and it can snap easy. Go slow and keep your cost low.

4-0 out of 5 stars What else are you going to buy?
For general purpose cutting these are the choice. They do well in a variety of non-abrasive materials. Just don't push them hard or you will need another 5 pack right away. The bits do better if you just let the tool do the work. They are kind of hard to control if you want a nice cut. But that's the nature of spiral saws . The down cutting spiral is nice since the dust is blown away from you instead of back at your face. It's pretty simple , if you have a spiral saw , you need these bits.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great bits for a great product and a real good price.
If you have a Rotozip, you need bits. I'm still learning how to use mine and I have broken a few bits. If you are like me, get a five pack, you will need them.

They work real well and cut through most anything. Just take your time when you are cutting something for the first time. Let the bit do the cutting. Don't try and muscle your way through.

However, if you are cutting tiles or ceramic, get the ceramic tool.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Bits

5-0 out of 5 stars Easy to use and cuts great circles
Ok. So I bought the cutting attachment for my dad for Christmas and ever since he has been practically obsessed with making bird houses and cutting holes in things. This is a really great way to make consistant and easy circles with your Rotozip. I had a chance to use the circle cutting attachment on a project and it was so nice and easy. Just imagine no more using a compass to draw out a circle and then attempting to cut it out freehand--with to rotozip circle attachment you get perfect circles every time. It is so nice and easy for people of all different levels of skill. I recommend it!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Useful Rotozip accessory
I needed to cut a 9 1/2" circle in a woodworking project I was building out of 3/4" thick red oak. I don't own a bandsaw yet, so I can't make circle cuts like Norm does on New Yankee Workshop. So I decided to buy one of these to use with my Rotozip.

A lot of people are complaining that the Rotozip can't go through plywood. I don't know if that's true, but it sure did a nice job cutting though oak. It didn't leave a perfectly smooth circle, since it's hard to keep the Rotozip perfectly verticle while making the cut. But it did a better job than I could have done by drawing a circle on the lumber then making a cut with a jigsaw. I was able to easily sand smooth any irregularities.

So if you have a Rotozip and you need to make **almost** perfect circles, this is a good way to go.

3-0 out of 5 stars Handy in specific instances

- Cutting ceiling tile for hi-hat - Speaker cabinets - Portholes in boats - cutting fiberlass shower stalls for large valve handles

It is NOT good for:

- Cutting arcs in plywood - Tile - Thick wood (over 3/4")

I found that the center point drifted in these applications, and it was too hard to affix the center point to the material being cut.

Like the roto-zip, it's a tool of great usefulness in specific situations. I'd never get rid of my Jig-Saw, which picks up where this tool leaves off.

4-0 out of 5 stars Rotozip Circle cutting in plaster
I bought the Circle cutting attachment for cutting circular holes in a plaster ceiling for can lights. Previously I have used an electric jigsaw for this, but the RotoZip is wonderful as long as you use a 1/8" solid carbide bit. Also be sure to drill a starting hole because of the danger of breaking the bit on the first insertion.

1-0 out of 5 stars Rotozip-No good!
I fell for the Rotozip info-commercial. According to the RotoZip commercials, the Rotozip can cut nearly everything and very fast. I'm surprised that they did not show that the Rotozip can do all this on it's own! I tried the Rotozip on ½ plywood... the bit dulled in about 1/20 of the circumference and then just burned the wood and would not cut anymore. I tried several bits and several materials and had similar results. The ONLY thing the Rotozip is useful for is cutting thin plastic or Sheet Rock. Do not purchase it for anything else! I will be returning my purchase. Signed, a very experienced woodworker. ... Read more
