All sandpaper is not created equal. As a result, we love Mirka paper. The backing is beefier than other papers, and to us, that means quality. Aluminum oxide grain is the choice of most woodworkers because it's sharp, durable and, best of all, long-lasting on the higher paper grades that won't shred on the edges. This assortment is perfect for professionals, homeowners, and hobbyists because it includes everything from stock-removing 80-grit to a nice 220 finishing grit. Yes, you can spend less on other sandpapers, but you'll end up spending more in the end. This is quality. --Kris Jensen-Van Heste ... Read more

Mirka paper is not only the quality choice; it is also a bargain at Amazon prices. I had previously purchased a full box of Mirka paper for my 6" sander, in the most popular grades. Have since done a lot of sanding with it. This brand of sandpaper is great. It is aluminum oxide which lasts and lasts. Additionally the backing pad is made from thick material, so it holds up well, and won't bugger the edges of your sander.
I had a body shop for twenty years, and came to realize the advantage of quality sandpaper. The cheap stuff does not hold up. You will go through a zillion sheets of paper, and will actually cost you more because of it. The Mirka paper lasts so long, that I wind up with a used stack. By the time it is to change to a different grit, the existing piece isn't worn out yet, so I keep them.
I went into Home Depot and checked out the Norton paper, I wasn't impressed. It also costs less per box, but they only give you 25 sheets instead of 50 like these Mirka boxes. So you get twice as many sheets here for only half again as much money. Not only is it a bargain up front, then the paper lasts a lot longer, not to mention the superior job it produces. You can't beat that.
This is the paper deal you want. Load up. Mirka rules.

We have used the Mirka PSA papers purchased from our former supplier, now ourt of business. We have been looking for a source to purchase a paper with a good sanding life that does not fill. We use it on raw wood or finished. We are also, at times, required to use Mirka to sand strip furniture and when we do, we experience three to four time the life of other highily recommended papers. Mirka is tough, dependable, and leaves a good surface for finishing. We are PLEASED to find another source for this quality sanding paper. Our experience speaks to us Mirka if your looking for a quality result!!!!!!!

I absoulutely love the Mirka 5" Dustless Hook and Loop Assortment Pack. It included everything I need to start sanding all the different woodworking projects that I do. I was impressed with how long the disks lasted and how well they stayed in place on my Makita Orbital Disk Sander. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for making wide surface cuts but.....
I'm glad I have this blade for use with the Fein Multimaster. The only problem is that when you are doing a job like trying to cut through a 3/4" cedar wall to install an outlet box, it is hard to keep a perfect corner. I am not talking about keeping a perfect line, it is great for that, but when you are trying to cut an exact corner with a wide angled blade, it is hard to determine the edge. Consequently the edge of your cut can go a little wider than hoped for, leaving a tiny slit that can run out of the outside circumference of your edge lines.
For making those kind of cuts the straight blades, without the angled sides makes for a perfect job. Knowing where the edge of the blade is, even while it is sinking into the wood is the key to getting your corners exact. With the 2 1/2 inch E cut blade, the tip is harder to get a bearing on where the vibrating edge is going to leave its mark. I'm not saying that you can't do the job with this blade, but for that type of application, the square rectangular blades make it easy to do a perfect job.
I'm not knocking this 2 1/2 inch blade. As a matter of fact I like using it for covering a wide area. I can angle the face of the blade along a line, and as the back of the edge is sinking deep, the front edge is starting a new edge of the cut. All in all highly recommended. PS: Get a square-rectangular style blade as well.

this is probably the most useful hand power tool in the universe.but i must agree with those who say the replacement blades are ridiculously high in price. but it is still one of the got to have tools. GOT TO HAVE IT!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Thing to Have
I recently bought the Fein Multi-Master tool, and also this extra blade. I have used this to remove some old paneling that was located in a tight corner space in a room I am remodeling and it worked amazingly well. It took me about 30 minutes to take one wall down using a japanese trim saw and about 5 minutes with this, and it was cleaner than the job I did by hand, in fact I hit a trim nail and went right through it, something my hand saw could have never done. I highly reccomend this recommend this to anyone using the Fein Multi Master

5-0 out of 5 stars FEIN BLADE
The Multi-Master is an indispensable tool for remodeling, but for some reason, the more aggressive E-Cut blade has been discontinued and the only offering in a 2 1/2" is this precision blade. I assume since Fein is the only company that makes the blades for this tool, they can get away with the outrageous price. ... Read more

This is the worst paper I have ever used!!!

When I bought my sander I thought the manufactures brand would be the best....... not so. A good friend suggested I try Mirka sanding disks and I am sure glad I did. I use hook and loop on 4 different sanders I own and have yet to loose a Mirka disk yet. A few others I have tried did not hold well and loaded up very easy. Nothing anyone says will prove the quality better than trying them yourself.... you will be back for more!

I find the Mirka discs to be of good quality and their longevity is impressive enough for me to buy them again. ... Read more

I'd like to agree with the other reviews on Fein: great tool funky blades. Can Lenox or Starett make blades for the MultiMaster?

2-0 out of 5 stars Convenience but no Quality
I love/hate this blade along with the Fein sander. The tool and blades like this are so convenient; they get you in tight places, allowing a lot of control, but this blade, along with the e-cut blades are...poor value for the money. They are not bi-metal like good recip blades, or carbide, like good saw blades, they're just plain steel, and they don't last. I have a table saw blade, I paid [$$$] for, but it'll last a lifetime, because it's good quality carbide, and it can be sharpened. As for blades like this one, if you're a contractor like me, you better have a big markup for overhead, because these babies are going to cost you. I actually took my complaint to the company; the rep I emailed said they pleaded with the manufacturers in Germany to make the price more reasonable, but to no avail.

4-0 out of 5 stars saw blade Fein?
I've used the flush cut saw blades for a couple of years to open painted windows in old houses and have discovered the blades just don't hold up. Hopefully the new ones will hold up better but I would expect more from a company that make such a heavy duty tool. I am about to try the metal cutting blade (flush cut) and hope it doesn't clog up. Why doesn't toolcrib offer a more complete listing of accessries for this tool? ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Good Quality, Excellent Value
I have purchased every grit of Mirka sanding disks from Amazon, and I find them to be good quality. The price per disc works out to be a great value if you purchase them in packs of 50.

I used these disks on my Bosch random-orbit sander. The hook-and-loop backing is strong and holds on through rough sanding. The aluminum oxide sanding material lasts for a good amount of time. I've used them on a variety of wood surfaces, and I have used them to remove paint, and they last long enough to take down a lot of material. I have bought other brands of sanding discs that do last longer, but the Mirka discs definitely hold up well.

The discs are packaged in a sturdy box with a cover, which makes it easy to dispense them as needed. Also, having them stored in a box keeps them clean, which helps the hook-and-loop function. This actually helps out a lot in the shop. Other brands come wrapped in plastic, and you have to find a container for them, or let them sit on a shelf and get full of sawdust. I appreciate this extra touch.

The paper stock is somewhat thin, but this does not really affect their use. Since they are stored in a box, they stay flat. Other brands, which are stored in bags, get curled up on the edges.

Bottom line: these are good quality sanding discs that last for a good amount of time, are a good value for the money, and are packaged in a convenient way.

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect - rough as can be
This is excellent stuff for those *really* tough jobs where you'd start thinking about getting a planer or similar "big" guns. Used this on my Makita orbital sander (which it fits just fine, in spite of the missing listing in the specs), and it stands up to punishment. Worked over a couple of 6x6 pressure treated beams and could get a reasonably nice finish pretty fast. These disks last surprisingly long, considering the work they perform. Also tried to use this to sand down a rusty old steel bulkhead coated with enamel, but the 60 grit doesn't cut it - you'll still need a steel brush head and lots of elbow grease for that kind of work.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great 60 grit sandpaper
I recently bought the Mirka 5" 8 hole H&L sandpaper. I had used several other brands and was not happy with the staying power of the grit. Mirka seems to have built a product that cuts better and lasts longer than anything else that I have purchased. Well worth the money and in fact by buying a box of 50 I paid much less than than I had been paying for the lesser quality pieces. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars It may sand good but replacement is the key!
It's funny, the sander works great! But my pad had to be replaced because it kept tossing the disc off the pad! Why is it that it is made to keep the sandpaper on and after using it for awhile it wears out? The pad is listed here at 17+ dallors......in the stores around here, they cost more! I'd rather find a product that does just as well and not be replacing a part that cost alot of money!

    Amazon.com Review

If you use your random-orbit sander on a fairly regular basis, you probably go through a lot of sanding pads. This is true not only because the pads wear out but because they pick up so much dirt and debris. The Baxter Creek SS001 Sander Sitter is designed to extend the life of those sanding pads by cleaning and restoring them to health. Just place your running sander onto the unit while you adjust your work piece, and let the Sand Sitter's crepe rubber pad polish the sanding disc clean. You can also use it after you've finished a job to eliminate wind-down time when you turn the sander off. The Sand Sitter holds firmly to any flat surface and can be bench-mounted if you prefer. It works on all 5-inch random-orbit disc palm sanders and can extend a sanding disc's life by as much as 400 to 500 percent. --Carl Thress ... Read more

The business about "fold up the edges of the sandpaper" is nonsense; this is simply a design flaw in the product (it should be larger).

And after dumping sawdust on the pad, and attempting to "break in" the pad by holding the sander running on it for a few minutes, it refused to work properly.

    Good idea, but poor design/execution.

5-0 out of 5 stars Read the instructions
I have one of these and I find it invaluable. However, based on what I've heard from others and what I've read here, there seems to be a great deal of confusion on how it works. BEFORE you use it for the first time, roll up the edges of the sanding disc and put dust on the crepe surface. Being both a male and a typical male I didn't read the instructions (instructions are for sissies and beside I know what I'm doing... most common last words prior to getting a Darwin Award), put my sander in it for the first time and had it vibrate right off my work bench with my sander in it... "what a piece of *&^%$#~!" was pretty much my reaction.

However, after reading the instructions (humble pie can be quite tasty) and several months of use it has paid for itself time and again in both saved time (not waiting for the sander to wind down) and sandpaper (the crepe scrubs and cleans the sanding discs like a charm). In fact I'd say it gets better with use, and there is a tension adjustment to control the rotation resistance (if required).

Made in beautiful Angus, Ontario famous for... well Angus is just up the road from me.

    Highly recommended.

5-0 out of 5 stars BEST THING I EVER BOUGHT
This is an awsome tool! I can't believe it saves me so much time, and it does save my sanding discs at least 4-5 times longer if not more. I had a little trouble at first but then I read the instructions and used it while sanding, I found that the more I use it the better it got. It is really important to roll the paper upward like the instructions say and to get the cleaning pad dusty, because it is pretty sticky when it is new.Great product!

1-0 out of 5 stars Save your money...
My orbital sander certainly won't sit (running) on this; the base is too light and rotates around, essentially it is useless.

The thing is actually too small for a 5" sander. The instructions say to "fold up the edges" of the sanding disc so it will fit inside the holder. Huh? Why not just make it 1/2" bigger?

I *does*, however, make a convenient place to put my coffee cup! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars To buy or not to buy? Is it worth it?
This 3" spindle assembly is substantially larger, and heavier than the standard spindles which comes with the Jet Benchtop Osciallating spindle sander. The advantage to having a larger drum is that it creates a flatter surface where the crown meets with the wood. That creates a smoother surface on larger pieces. The smaller spindles that come with the unit, range from the 2" on down to the smallest ones, which are great for getting into smaller corners etc, but on a large flat or gradual curved surface they can create dimples in the surface if you don't keep the material moving.
Is the 3" spindle neccessary? Not really, with a careful technique, you can accomplish it with the smaller spindles, but it definitely makes it easier. Highly recommended.

5-0 out of 5 stars Makes Your Benchtop Sander Work Like a "Floor Model"
This kit gives you a whole different range of capability with your Jet sander. Take this kit, put your sander on a stable tool stand, and then pat yourself on the back for the money you saved by not buying a floor model sander. With this kit, your sander tackles a much broader range of tasks.

I highly recommend it! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing!
This is the perfect tool for anyone that needs to cut fiberglass. It is indespensable and much more managable than a dremmel or other hand grinder. I use this tool almost daily. The only down side is that this blade is a bit fragile and will break if bent even slightly.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Safe Tight Space Cutting Tool
I was told about this tool by a freind when I needed to do some work on the inside of my sailboat. The tool works on the same principle as an orbital sander, only with this cutting blade attached, it will cut just about anything very safely. I have used this blade to cut fiberglass tabs away from the hull without danger of cutting throught the hull and with very little dust. I have also cut the 3/8 plywood that was fiberglassed to the bulkhead. I just took my time and the adjustable depth stop and did not cut through any deeper than necessary. I also trimmed the ends of Stainless steel screws off that are through bolted through the cabin top. I now carry this tool with me anywhere I have a job to do for cutting or sanding. Well worth the money. ... Read more

Premium belts at a reasonable price, load them up and erase the build up with a cleaning stick and load them up again. These belts can take the heat and stay together.
