5-0 out of 5 stars CUT THE ELECTRIC CORD
AS A CABINET INSTALLER A MITER SAW IS A MUST. BOSCH'S 10" 24 VOLT COMPOUND MITER SAW IS POWERFUL ENOUGH TO CUT THROUGH 6" HARD WOOD FILLERS AND 4-1/2" CROWN MOLDING WITH NO PROBLEMS. THE LIGHT WEIGHT AND PORTABILITY OF THIS SAW MAKES IT GREAT FOR PICKUP WORK. ONE BATTERY WILL LAST ALL DAY AND INTO THE NEXT. THE VARIOUS ACCESSERIES AVAILABLE MAKE THIS SAW COMPARABLE TO THE BOSCH 10" ELECTRIC.THIS SAW HAS THE BIGGEST BLADE AND LARGEST BATTERY CAPACITY OF ANY CORDLESS ON MARKET TODAY FOR THE PRICE. GOOD JOB BOSCH.

5-0 out of 5 stars no cord? no worries
I have all the 24 volt bosch stuff and love them so I tried this saw. At first I was a bit concerned, after all a cordless miter saw?, 900+ sqft of heart pine floring later, I was convinced, I had only charged the batteries once! 900+ sqft on 2 batteries! Now I leave my other Bosch 10" slider and DeWalt 12" chop at home. This saw is so light and powerful you'll be addicted. The only thing I questioned was the price...Did I really need to go cordless? This is my list of projects that convinced me this tool was worth the extra money: our deck, the boat house, gazeebo, pickett fences, tree house, and work around our cabin. All cordless I love this saw!

2-0 out of 5 stars This saw is way too expensive
Look. This saw is way, way too expensive. If you need an extra 24 volt battery and charger, just buy them. With the money left over you could also buy a better corded miter saw and an oversized circular saw to boot. Even then, you would still have enough money left over to celebrate feeling so good about your wise choices.

5-0 out of 5 stars What cord?
Used this saw for about a year. I love this thing. Great for every carpentry job. It has plenty of balls. Lightweight. Nothing bad to say.

I am not sure why Amazon only gave Donald 1 battery. I have sold over 30 of these saws through Amazon and they all have had 2 batteries. Donald, Amazon should allow you to return the item and get your money back. I would be glad to sell you a saw with 2 batteries, however my saw only has 1 blade. My saws can no longer be listed under this model number, so look under model 3924K. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Milwaukee Metal Cutting Saw
Probably the most surprizing power tool that I've ever bought. Cuts through a 2" EMT conduit in 7 seconds, cuts double height strut in seconds.
I no longer take my SawAll and band saw to job anymore.
It's fast, makes an acceptably clean cut, best of all its cordless.
When 20 feet up in the air hanging strut and conduit this is the BEST tool to have with you.

2-0 out of 5 stars Inexpensive and built that way!
This is not a high quality saw. Blade was not at right angle to the base. No bevel adjustment. Returned to Amazon. Check out the Evolution brand of metal cutting saws. http://www.evolutionpowertools.com/ ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Rousseau Base Plate
Not a lot to say about this product. It is made of very solid material and is very easy to install. Getting the router centered on the plate is the hardest part of the install and this was made easy by the circle marks on the bottom of the plate. All you have to do is find the set of circles that is the same size as your router base and clamp or tape it down.

I would have given this product a 5, but the center rings are a little difficult to remove. I like to use the plate just as much out of the table as in so i am ordering another to install on my second router.

4-0 out of 5 stars Rosseau router plate
I had some trouble getting my router centered in the plate. However, I found a way to overcome this: If it is a Porter Cable, collapse the router base all the way down until the base plate engages the collet nut. The nut will serve to center itself within the inner base plate removable rings. Sandwich the OEM router base plate between the router base and the new base plate. Use double sided tape to hold it in place. Now the OEM plate and the Rosseau plate should be stuck together. Set the unit up in a drill press and the OEM plate will have the holes located fairly close. Good luck!

5-0 out of 5 stars Centering a Bosch router is easy
Bosch 1613 and 1619 routers (and probably others) have clearance holes for mounting to a Bosch table. You can drill the Rousseau insert plate using the circle patterns on the underside at those locations to get reasonably close to center, mount the router with 10-24 machine screws and nylok nuts, and center it using a Porter-Cable 1/4 inch template insert and a 1/4 inch drill rod chucked in the router. Snug up the mounting screws and you're done.

The plate fits very well, although it is JUST large enough for the 1619 without rotating it on the insert. I did use the Rousseau template to cut the hole and rabbet the edge; you can make your own using the instructions with the insert, but for $14-15 it didn't seem worth the time.

2-0 out of 5 stars It's OK but its not flat.
Its actually pretty wavy. Received mine about 2 weeks ago and setting up a table for it. The surface has waves in it about 0.01 - 0.02 in depth. I was hoping for better. I may chuck it and start over.

5-0 out of 5 stars Installation tip makes the Rousseau plate even better
I wanted to add to my other review. I must admit, the installation tip that I am about to discuss, I discovered by from installing the Bench Dog RT-250 router extension table. It is the way Bench Dog does their installation. The great idea is to use melamine screws, which have flat ends, and coarse threads to make an adjustable platform for the Rousseau plate to sit on. Ok, let me ramble.
The problem is trying to rout out the opening, at precisely the proper depth, so the plate is perfectly flush with the top. A little too deep and you have a valley. A little proud, and you have a ridge to run into, and run the risk of your workpiece coming to a halt. So what to do? Rout out a 1/16" or 1/8" deeper than is necessary. Then drill holes a little smaller than the melamine screw size all around the outside lip. Since melamine screws are not tapered, the threads are the same size for the full length of the shaft. You can look up melamine screws here at Amazon with a search. They refer you to McFeeleys, which is a great business, with instant service, and a full array of screws and fasteners. Much more variety than the usual home centers. They have a box of 50 available. Ok so what is the big deal about using the melamine screws? This is it, by using the screws with the flat tips, screwed in from underneath, all around the circumference, you wind up with a fine adjust system for getting the Rousseau plate, perfectly level with the table top. Combining that with the four countersunk holes in each of the corners for securing the top, you get an incredibly adjustable platform for the Rousseau top. I used 14 melamine screws, equally balanced around the circumference. It enabled me to fine adjust the plate so well, that I was able to completely eliminate the ever so slight crown in the plate. Although I did attach it to a wide base plunge router, which I am sure contributed to the leveling.
Since the adjusting screws are now the contact point for the base, you are now given a lot more freedom in routing the opening. For one, you don't have to rout up to the edge all the way around. You can rout to just one depth, and for example create 45 degree angle corner shelves under the plate, thereby creating greater overall stability of the greater table.
This melamine screw installation is not exclusive to new installations, it can be easily done with an already installed plate. That way if you are dealing with a small dip on any edge, it can be easily corrected.
I thank Bench Dog for turning me on to this installation method, and to Rousseau for making such a great router plate. Once you install any manufacturers router plate using melamine screws for adjustability, you will never want to do it any other way. Hope this helps. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Precision Dovetails made too dang easy.
I've been woodworking for over 20 years, and used to cut dovetails by hand. I looked at the jigs but was always put off by the high price and big manuals. I read a review on different jigs and the Keller was deemed the simplest to use. I bought it and could not be happier. It took me about 5 minutes to screw the jig to a backer board, and 10 minutes later I was putting together the first joint. It was perfect. My only regret is not buying this thing years ago. It's so simple, you don't even need to keep the booklet around, because there is nothing really to set up. Bit depth is not critical, you just set it a hair deeper than the wood thickness. I now can buzz through a whole project's dovetails faster than I used to chop out one side by hand, and they look better too. I'd be surprized if anyone was disappointed with this jig.

5-0 out of 5 stars Easy to use. Easy to make thru & half-blind dovetails
I have this dovetail jig and it couldn't be easier to use or set up. The instructions are great. Some people prefer to us a solid backer block that requires planing. I have a planer, but used baltic birch plywood as it is more stable than solid stock.

I use my band saw to cut veneer and trim it to fit the front. This is essentially serves the same purpose as half-blind dovetails and it is even stronger. Also, if you can't cut your own veneer you can buy veneer. If you don't want to do that, you can always uses 1/2"-3/4" solid stock for "false fronts".

The price is right and from the box to perfect thru dovetails is less than one hour. You also use a bit with a bearing that is more accurate and consistent that other jigs that require collars.

Great buy and great results.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wow! It's so easy to use!
I have never tried dovetail before and have always been intimidated by it. I ordered it from Amazon and came in a small well packed box. Instruction didn't look impressive but I just followed it step by step and found out it is very to make tight (just right) dovetails. 18" length for the backer block does not have to be that accurate. The width should be roughly 2.25" but when I used plywood it is slightly less in thickness but it does not matter. No need to be intimidated!

5-0 out of 5 stars change the block
This is a great jig. The backing block thickness dimension needs an adjustment in order to make hardwood joints that aren't too tight, however - read other reviews. The 3 1/2" depth isn't critical; neither is the 18" length. I suggest milling the block out of poplar, soft maple, or (like I did) salvaged yellow pine in order to get a thickness of 2 5/16" (not 2 1/4", as instructed). Then set the scribed line BACK exactly 1/16" by making your own scribe on the dovetail side and set your screws in. This will allow your pins to be slightly thinner than they would be with the instructed measurements. Then play with the router bit depths between 1/32" and 1/16" extra (beyond your stock thickness and the 1/2" thickness of the jig) to fine tune (a deeper dovetail bit will make the joint tighter). I had perfect joints that just needed a little sanding after only 15 minutes! These were the first dovetail joints I've ever cut in my life (and only the second time I'd ever used a router)!

5-0 out of 5 stars Impressive through dovetails with ease.
I consider myself an intermediate woodworker and have been putting off immersing myself into learning to hand-cut dovetails. When considering the time it takes to become proficient at cutting them manually, it can be intimidating. I bought this jig for its advertised simplicity and ease of setup. The low cost is quite attractive as well. It is on the mark for ease of setup. The only issue is setting up the backing block. I can see that being an issue if you do not have a thickness planer. The manual says that you can use 3 pieces of 3/4" ply but I like the idea of a hardwood backing block. After I milled up the block and screwed the jig in place, I had a perfect dovetail joint in less than 10 minutes. I would recommend this jig to anyone w/ a small to medium shop (or home enthusiast). ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Seems to struggle...
I've had this saw for about a year now and it I'm very dissapointed with it. It behaves as if the saw doesn't have enough power. As I'm cutting, the saw gets bogged down almost everytime I cut something substantial. I'm not talking about oak or any other hardwoods here, just regular old 2X4's! I'm stuck with it now, but wish I had bought the skil after hearing the raves about it. My old refurbished skil I bought for $29 in high school(1984) is still far superior and now this one sits and collects dust. If you're thinking blade, I tried that, doesn't seem to matter.
Good luck with whatever you decide upon.

5-0 out of 5 stars Handy and hard working
I bought my Saw Boss back in 1995 to use while restoring a condemned house we bought in North Carolina. I can't imagine the number of boards I've cut with it. When used on a bench it cut through every piece of wood with ease, as long as I used blades that hadn't already been used to cut through TOO many nails. The reduced power (when compared to a 7 1/4 saw) was a major asset when I had to use the saw in awkward positions cutting away bits of old house. The saw would bog down before anything seriously dangerous happened. Being light, the saw could be used in a vertical position to cut through wall boards, and I even used it overhead with ease. The saw did not have a safety interlock which would have made it impossible to use for some of the cuts I needed to make. I don't know if the newer saws do, but I doubt it since this saw is designed for professionals. I, also, have some complaints with the stamped metal base, but in its favor, I dropped the saw from the roof of the porch once and bent the plate and was able to hammer it back into shape. An aluminum plate would surely have broken.
My point is, this saw really shines when used for construction and remodeling work, for making repeated cuts in a number of awkward positions. You don't get worn out just lugging the saw around. This is a perfect outdoor tool, even coming equipped with an extra-long cord. I can't speak for the shop, since in there I generally use my Dewalt chop box or Jet table saw.

5-0 out of 5 stars I hauled around a worm drive
Back when I framed I hauled around a SkillSaw worm drive. As soon as I could I sold it to someone younger and stronger. I have known 2 people that framed their houses with the Saw Boss. I just finished building my shop with this and I still like it. If you have to get on the roof with a saw you sould have this one.

5-0 out of 5 stars Lightweight but does the job.
The saw is well worth its price. It will rip through PT without slowing down. One of the reasons that I bought it was because the blade is on the left side of the motor and I really like that feature. The blade's cut is visable without craning my neck. The angle and depth for the blade adjustment are a snap to use and changing the blade is easy enough too. The little sawdust shoot has clogged up a couple of times, but it was simple and quick to remove and clean out. I am a woman, so the weight of the saw was an important detail. This saw handles beautifully. It is lightweight, but does the job.

4-0 out of 5 stars Yow!
Nice little saw. MUCH easier to handle than my 7.25" B&D. I don't miss the difference in cutting depth since I really only cut sheet goods and 2x4's with it. The thin kerf blade really zips through 3/4" plywood with little tearing. The stamped sheet metal base is a little wimpy--would have preferred cast aluminum--but it works fine, really. All adjustments are easy and precise. The dust collection pipe works well, too. I would buy it again. Minus one star for the base--picky, picky. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars How have I lived without this?
Excellent Table saw. Easy to set up, clear instructions. Extremely heavy though, but, I like that, no vibration (you will need a few helpers). The rip guide took a couple of times to align properly, but, not a problem. Built to last. This saw has ripped everything I have thrown at it and doesn't slow down. Clearly built with quality in mind. Have used the Delta and Craftsman line of table saws- they don't even compare. I have the 3-phase 5 HP version. Only drawback was have to install a three phase converter, which wasn't cheap. I am thrilled with this saw and will never buy another one (may never need to, don't think this one will breakdown). If you are trying to decide on a saw, choose this one, you won't be sorry.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Saw!!
My 5hp Powermatic 66 was built in 1988 and is still running like new. I probably could have gotten by with the 3hp model, but I definately have no complaints about this saw. I also own a Powermatic model 60 8" Jointer that was built in 1960. If the quality of that machine is any indication, I will never need to replace this table saw!

1-0 out of 5 stars Unsafe power switch on Powermatic Model 66
WARNING!!!! The switch on this unit can be turned on by pressing against it with a nail belt or a pair of Carhart Carpenter Overalls. I saw this happen to a 40 year Master Craftsmen. The older machines had a much safer switch. Be sure to unplug the unit when changing any saw blade. The saw itself is an excellent table saw and is the top of the line for heavy duty table saws. POWERMATIC NEEDS TO INSTALL A SAFER ON & OFF SWITCH Jim

5-0 out of 5 stars quick and easy set-up
I received the fence today about 3:30 PM and by 4:45PM I was alined and using the fence. It fit my old Sears table saw perfectly. I did have to drill a couple of holes for the back rail, but that was not a problem. It worked great. I have already ran several board feet through it. I'm looking forward to many hours of ease with the new fence.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Upgrade
I purchased the Vega Fence to upgrade my Grizzly 1022SM Table saw. The Vega fence bolted to the table with no problems and with no need to drill extra holes. After installation and adding on my Extension table for the 50" fence bar, the Fence was Accurate and stays Accurate. I now can set my Fence where I want it and be sure its dead on.
Simply put this was a great Investment.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Rip Fence
I bought this tool at Amazon.com. I bought this rip fence because I could not align my other rip fence on my new Delta 36-444 Contractors Table Saw. It connected to my table saw with out drilling any holes. It is very accurate. However, when I aligned it I discovered a slight cup in the middle of the fence. Fortunately, It was not enough to prevent good cuts. I may never use the full 50", but it is nice to know it is there.

4-0 out of 5 stars It's worth it if you put it on a good saw
I bought it because I thought it would help the used Craftsman table saw I bought. It didn't. I shoulda knowed better. Then, like Lester, I bought a Grizzly 1022 which came with a barely adequate fence. Putting a good fence on a cheap saw is dumb. Putting it on a saw with a little mass and muscle that'll hold its adjustments makes a world of difference. The only reason it doesn't get five stars is because I'll have to completely remove the measuring tape and glue in a new one if I want the thing to zero out at the blade. Right now it's a half-inch off and that's a bit frustrating. But that's the worst thing about it. It's dead-on square and it STAYS that way.

5-0 out of 5 stars What took me so long
Installed the Vega on my Delta Contractor's saw, which was a breeze. It is very accurate, glides very easily and love the micro adjustment. Once set, the thing is rock solid. Also like the easy lift off removal. The only down side, is unlike the Delta, the Vega has no support for the table extensions. However, some angle iron solved that problem. Sure wish I had installed the Vega long ago...my vocabulary of bad words would have been much shorter and my knuckles would be much prettier. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Disappointed.
I just set up this saw and used it to cut porcelain tile for a kitchen countertop. Assembly was simple and the instructions are short and clear. Unfortunately there are no adjustments to the saw arm or table to square the blade to 90 degrees vertical or parallel to the table slide. My saw was out of alignment on both. After an hour of digging through my collection of washers and repeatedly reinstalling the motor on the arm, I managed to shim the saw to the correct orientation. The motor has plenty of power but is the loudest tool in my shop (by far). Ear protection is a MUST. It took a very reasonable 15 seconds per 6" cut through 5/16" porcelain. The other design flaw is the tub is too short. When sliding the tray through the blade, the tray carries outside the tub and pours water on the ground. This makes a mess and requires adding water back into the tub to keep the required water level. I chose this over the MK-470 because it was Porter Cable and I liked the tub better. I would still buy a saw rather than rent one because no job should be rushed. But, I would probably buy a different one if I had a "do-over".

5-0 out of 5 stars best of class tile saw.
Professional craftsman know that the Porter Cable brand can't be beat in the area of routers and sanders. I wasn't sure what to expect in the tile cutting area, so I didn't immediately go with this saw.

Some earlier negative reviews of this saw...prompted me to actually get the slightly cheaper MK sliding table saw instead. I was very dissapionted with that saw's design & quality and had to return it after wasting two days on the site and a lot of money in wasted stone due to wandering cuts. I returned it and decided to try the Porter Cable.

For a saw in this price range, or even for double the cost, this is the best sliding table design I've seen and used. It does have some "flex" in the table but it is very predictable and it is easy to consistantly get good results. My first task was to cut 70 1.5" by 10" border pieces in granite. All pieces cut square and quick.

The saw's engineering is excellent; while assembling the tool I kept wishing that everything was designed and built with this much care. Components that I thought were plastic...ended up being high quality polished aluminum castings. WOW!

The included dimond blade also appears to be of higher quality than some of the "clay-only" type dimond blades that other manufactures include with their saws.

1-0 out of 5 stars Terrible value for the price
I had a $48 QEP saw before this wildly overpriced Porter Cable [one] and the $48 saw cut tiles more efficiently and accurately than this garbage. The bearings on my ...PC saw stripped within 6 months and I was told by my PC dealer it had to be caused by improper use, not faulty bearings. ...I will never buy a PC product again. Lousy saw and even worse customer service support. Buy it if you have to have lousy durability with a Proter Cable tag glued on it.

4-0 out of 5 stars I'm satisfied
I've had this saw for over a year and have cut a LOT of tile with it. I've been pleased overall with its performance. The only complaints I have is the noise (ear plugs definately required) and my tabe is very sightly warped (because it sat out in the sun for a week). I would prefer a metal table with a miter attachment but I'm not willing to pay hundreds more for that. My table rolls smoothly and the cuts are always clean and accurate. Other tile cutters in this price range can only rip 12" tiles which is what ultimatly led me to buy the Porter Cable.

2-0 out of 5 stars Just horrible.
I do tile and stone work for a living. This is the most
gosh-awful thing I've ever had the displeasure to work with.
First, let me say two good things about the saw.. it's
(1) light and (2) easy to clean up; making it great for
indoor work where you can keep this saw right by you
as your doing tile work. The tray holds very little
water (specifically you can fill it with about 3/4
of a spackle bucket.... so you don't have to go through
a whole big routine to empty the saw (i.e. dumping
several buckets of waste water outside)).

First, we at work nicknamed this saw "the screamer."
Albeit, the saw was modestly quiet when I first
bought it... but the bearings rapidly deteriorated
about 5 times faster than my 6 other wet saws!!!
I have to wear headphones. If it was any louder,
I'd probably go deaf. I'm redoing the bearings,
but I don't expect it to last. Junk saw.

Second, although there is very little "play"
[lateral movement) in the tray (a plus), if this
saw vibrated any more... I'd reconfigure it as
a jackhammer!!! I can't even keep a tile held
in one place unless I apply about 20 pounds
of pressure on the tile to keep it from shifting
as I'm cutting.

Target, QEP, SawMaster, Felker..., even MK...
anything but this horrible contraption.

Porter Cable has a good reputation. I've had
(errr.. my father, has had) Porter Cable drills
that still function and probably were made before
I was born... Good stuff.... but this is clear

evidence that just because a company makes
good drills... don't mean they know diddly
about making tile saws. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

Powered by a burly 15 amp motor, Porter-Cable's new 10-inch slidingcompound miter saw is winning the industry over. The saw's remarkably smoothslide action lets you glide easily--and precisely--through trim cuts, while thesaw's big motor hungrily powers through larger work pieces. Also, thanks to thewell-designed slide, this saw has the miter capacity to handle a two-by-twelveat 90 degrees and a four-by-four at 45 degrees. You can also miter up to 57degrees right and 48 degrees left, which comes in handy if you're working on acustom deck that features some tight angles.

Porter-Cable definitely put some time into the details of this saw. The railsslide underneath the saw's table, instead of above, which ought to betterprotect them, especially when you're transporting the saw. The tool also has abig table that gives plenty of support space for workpieces, making it easier tohold them securely in place when cutting. There's an electric brake (all mitersaws should have one), and the blade guard retracts smoothly. The D-handledesign makes the saw comfortable to operate with either your right or left hand, which is convenient considering the wide range of cuts you're likely to make. The work clamp makes it easy to hold pieces in place, keeping your fingers awayfrom the blade. We really like how the saw's base can mount on the edge oftwo-by-fours, creating a quick job site stand. Very clever.

A single onboard wrench makes all the adjustments, including blade changes. Thefence on this Porter-Cable is easily adjusted--in case it gets knocked out ofalignment. It's true, a guy could really rave about this saw for quite a while. The miter and bevel gauges are great, with embossed marks stamped into stainlesssteel, so it'll be just as easy to dial in the exact cut three years into thefuture as when you first take the tool out of the box (no chintzy stickers orattached plates here). The stainless-steel detents won't ever develop slop, either. Bevels are also easy to set. The three-wing screw lock is sturdy andholds tight, and there's good tension in the unlocked position--so the motor iseasy to move (it doesn't just flop over) when you're setting bevels. --JonGroebner ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Best Saw on the Planet
I've used a lot of saws and power tools in my day, and after looking at DeWalt, Sears, Bosche, and others, I found the Porter Cable 10" Slider to be the most amazingly accurate and comfortable to use Miter Saw. Don't bother buying any saw unless it slides. This Saw is not light. Degree markers are ON THE MONEY, right out of the box and easily readable. Just use a square to confirm the factory set-up. The rails slide like a hot knife thru butter, and the pull force is just perfect. Try a Freud 80 tooth "Red Blade" for Mill work and you can throw away your sandpaper. This saw ROCKS!!

5-0 out of 5 stars PORTER CABLE 10" Sliding Compound Miter Saw
nicname: Flip, I found this saw to be of exceptional quality.I had alot of good saws to choose from and it was a toss up between this and the Bosch. The Dewalt is a great saw also but the blades are much to expensive if you plan on doing alot of cutting. The blade that comes on the saw is fine for semi finish work but you'll want to invest in a better blade preferably 80teeth and above for fine finish work. The only thing I found wrong was that the extra blade that was sent is for a table saw not a sliding compound miter(different hook on the teeth of the blade). I think whom ever purchases this saw won't regret it.Happy saw dust. :) feel free to drop a line or two

5-0 out of 5 stars Great saw---Wish Amazon sold work clamp seperatly also...
Great saw...Makes accurate fast cuts....Does what it is supposed to do very well.....Amazon is great as always...

I needed a second clamp..I always like to have one on left and right........But Amazon doesn't sell this clamp seperatly...

After some looking around, I did manage to find it at:

Hope this helps someone.......

5-0 out of 5 stars Outstanding saw.
As a trim carpenter I have had the pleasure of using many different saws. This saw is excellent. I did change to a Freud cutoff blade since the type of trim work I do does require fine cuts. It has all the power needed to cut through some of the hardest woods and not bog down. I mounted this saw on a Stable Mate stand with extensions and it fits well. The saw is a little heavy to carry but I am willing to live with it. My congratulations to Porter Cable for a saw well done.

5-0 out of 5 stars Right On
Been using this one for about a year now and it is right on the money. You set it a 45deg. and it's right there without any slop.I have been making both picture frames & doors frames and have not had one stitch of trouble. One thing in the negative, the dust bag is worthless. 90% of the sawdust hits the deck and not the bag. Not a problem big enough that would give a 4 star instead of 5. From what I read it seems to be a problem with most power miter saws. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars What a saw
I started looking for a new saw several months ago. My small old Craftsman just wasn't accurate enough. I looked at several brands including a better craftsman, Jet, Ridgid, and Delta. Upon a visit to HD. I was sure I was going to buy the Ridgid 3650. What a nice saw that is. But then my buddy tried to talk me into a Delts 36-650. It is a nice saw and about a 100 bucks cheaper than the Ridgid. So I did some research on woodnet and everyone was raving about the grizzly brand table saws. They really looked good in the picture and the specs were just what I was looking for. I had a hard time deciding between this saw and the Z model. The Z has .5 HP more motor and cast iron wings. I didn't really care too much about the wings because I am putting a router table on instead. But I wanted the 2HP motor. But didn't want to pay $100 more for it. Based on the models I previously mentioned all having 1.5HP motors, I made my decision and purchased the G0444. I am truly glad I did! This saw is exactly what I was looking for. Very stable, smooth operations. The pics do not do the shop fox fence any justice. This is as nice as a Biesmeyer. This saw is second to none. For the price even with the shipping I saved money over comparable saws. I cut a piece of 2" thick oak like a hot knife through butter. Needless to say I am very happy with this saw and the way it was delivered. The driver showed up at my house with a 30' bobtail truck and helped me get it into my garage and waited for me to open the box to make sure nothing was damaged. Grizzly and Amazon did a wonderful job and I am 100% satisfied. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Unsurpassed!
Although this little gem is quite heavy compared to other circular saws, it's power more than makes up. This thing is unstoppable! The unique handle position takes some getting used to, as it feels more like you are pushing the saw along the workpiece, but I've found the wormdrive easier to use than other saws that have the handle located more "on top" of the unit. The on/off switch is very handy too.

I did some work last winter (during a snowstorm) and the saw does turn kinda slow until the oil warms up. That got in the way for intermittent use, when the oil got cold between every cut. This was the case when I used it for cutting laminate flooring. Seems like overkill, but DAMN the cuts were clean!!
I'm a heavy DIYer and I disagree, for my case, that it's not suited. Someone who just wants to cut a two-by once in a while definitely wouldn't need this saw.

5-0 out of 5 stars Super saws-all!
I own a Porter-Cable 15 amp (which I love) and one of these. I've had the P-C over a year and this Skil, which I just got a couple days ago, blows the Porter Cable away! I'm not a contractor, but I understand fully why contractors out West love them. This is one beefy machine with tons of power to cut anything. I tried twisting it in a cut to test it and it only slowed a little, while the P-C nearly stops! A great buy for DIY-er or professional.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Tool
The Skil HD77 can truely be considered heavy duty. I live in the southeast US (...where it never really gets cold...) and can say that the HD77 is unstoppable. The advantages of any worm drive saw are torque (cutting power), noise (not so much high rpm motor whine), and longevity (could outlast the owner). The primary disadvantage is weight - the saw is heavy. Skil invented this type of saw and still carries the lion's share of the market. There are other worm drive saws available, and I'm sure that they are all great, but there is something to be said for a product that has remained basically unchanged for 60+ years. If you can handle the weight, you will be more than pleased with the saw. I would buy it again - but I don't think I'll ever need to.

5-0 out of 5 stars Can't go wrong
I bought this saw to cut some concrete to expand my patio. It
performed flawlessly and even better than expected. Even though
I'm a DIY'er you won't go wrong buying this tool.

5-0 out of 5 stars The industry standard in Canadian construction!
I earn an income visiting construction sites. More rough carpenters use this circular saw then any other (including the Skil HD77M).

In March of this year, I bought the HD77 used ...to replace a low-end Black & Decker which was purchased new for $50 in 1981.

For DIY projects around the house, the heavy-duty, smooth operating HD77 has yet to disappoint. Initially, I had to get used to the weight and the ergonomics. The cuts were smooth with no irritating startup kickback. Plywood and sonotubes; no problem.

With the increasingly harsh Toronto area winters, the oil in the HD77 requires to be room temperature warm prior to using the saw in the great outdoors of ours.

With proper maintenance and care, this saw will be a vital and permanent tool for rough carpentry. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars An excellent Wet Tile Saw
I have been looking for a tile saw for a while, and after reading all the reviews and recommendations, I opted to buy this product. The package came complete and ready to use. After a few minutes assembling the hardware and testing it, I was extremely amazed of the performance. The motor is extemely quiet. The construction is very solid that, I think, will probably last forever. This is the one that you need not only for your home improvement project, but also for other use. In fact, I was able to finish my bathroom in no time with a professional looking new ceramic tile on it with the help of this beautiful machine.

Very much highly recommended.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fine Piece of Hardware - Exceeds My Expectations
This wet saw is outstanding. What I enjoy most is the robust aluminum rolling tray and track system, which is very well designed and very well built. In particular, the yellow tubular guard along the left track essentially serves as an umbrella to protect the track & roller from the harsh grit (that splatters a lot from these wet saws) and becoming embedding into the roller bearing that would bind the tray badly. Second, the tray is heavy cast aluminum with nice finishing details. I thought it might be a heavy plastic composite from the pic. Not so! Also, the tray with a heavy rear square curb serves well for the T-square, bullnose (included), and other miter/bevel gear to clamp upon. The whole saw with its superbly built cast aluminum construction (arm and all the red pieces), welded steel base, sealed motor/electrical fittings, and the fine details exceeds my expectations. I am very pleased with my purchase. I have confidence this saw will perform excellently, especially with the smooth, accurate tray & track system, for years and years.

Post-350 ft2 & 36ft2 job: This saw performed better than I expected. I knew it had a great design and was well built, but after finishing my kitchen, eating area, hallway, foyer and adjoining bathroom and cutting 110 cut tiles, I can truly say how glad I was to have a good saw like the 660. Worth every penny. It was really nice to have the overhead blade to see exactly where you were cutting (i.e., my crayon marks) for precision.

4-0 out of 5 stars MK 660 CERAMIC TILE WET SAW
...PERSONALLY PURCHASED THIS WET SAW OVER 6 YEARS AGO; HAS GIVEN ME OUTSTANDING SERVICE...HAVE NEVER REPLACED A SINGLE PART ON THIS SAW WITH EXCEPTION OF BLADES...RUNS EXTREMELY QUIET COMPARED TO THE EXTERIOR DRIVE MOTOR UNITS...HAVE PROFESSIONALLY USED THIS UNIT ALMOST EVERY WEEK SINCE PURCHASE...LIGHT WEIGHT IS A PLUS...MAKES THE UNIT VERY PORTABLE...HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS UNIT FOR ITS DURABILITY AND CAPABILITY...

4-0 out of 5 stars Quite Saw
Well let me start by saying that my old saw was a MK370.
The difference between the two was night and day,on the rails the 660 was 100 times more accurate than the 370 .Its alot more smoother and alot quiter. What I found was the 660 was alot more messy ,I mean that I could not set this saw up in the house I was working in like in the past.Sure I alwayse had to put a tarp down and rig a back spalsh but it was ok.The 660s table is not as deep as the 370 so you have to hold the tile more firmly.I miss the extra clearence under the saw the 370 had,for freehanding cuts.the pump is alot bigger and better.the saw seems to have as much power as the 370 but its alot smoother.
I am glad I got this saw as a up grade to the 370 and would buy again.Cant see my self buying one of those 100 lb saws to do all the tile I do,just seems like a whole lot of work for the normal 10 or 12 cuts you have to saw ,and cant brake.Mabey if I was doing 18" marble I could afford a helper to carry my saw for me(:All around a great saw ,just remember this saw was a 7" not a 10".I think for a 7" its top notch.Dont be afraid to buy this saw.

1-0 out of 5 stars Specs incorrect

Amazon.com Review

This DeWalt circular saw is a rugged tool designed with professional carpenters' needs in mind. It has a 15 amp motor that produces a whopping 2,075 watts, which is equivalent to about 2-3/4 horsepower. In less scientific terms those numbers mean this saw can slice through lumber like a tornado through a trailer park. If that's a little too fast for you, it also comes with an electric brake for quick stops. The generous 5-1/2-inch base pivots for depth of cut and bevels on a ball-joint mechanism that offers smoother, faster adjustments than the simple hinge arrangement typically found on other saws. It has a bevel capacity of 0 to 50 degrees, and--like the depth-of-cut gauge--the bevel gauge can be easily recalibrated if the saw takes a tumble on the job. Depth-of-cut adjustments are made by unscrewing the front handle a bit, adjusting to the desired depth, and screwing it back down tight. This operation is so smooth it can be done without even changing your grip on the saw, reducing downtime between cuts. The saw's construction is solid throughout and it should be capable of living a long life on even the toughest job sites. Blade changes are quick thanks in part to the easy-to-reach shaft lock button; however, onboard storage of the blade-changing wrench would be an improvement. This is a great tool for serious professionals in need of serious cutting power. At 12.3 pounds, it isn't the lightest model available, but big power doesn't come in small packages, and 7-1/4 inch sidewinder circular saws don't get any burlier than this. --Brian Trinen ... 3-0 out of 5 stars It's not a Super Sawcat, but it's decent.
If you've ever used a B&D Super Sawcat-either 7 1/4" or 8 1/4"-you'll understand my point of view. The Sawcat is the saw to which I judge all others. The first and most obvious comparison is the DeWalt's electric brake-the blade still turns after the saw is shut down. When you shut down a Sawcat the blade stops, and I mean now. The next item is the shoe plate. The DeWalt is wide enough, but if you look at a Sawcat's shoe plate you notice B&D turned up the edges just a skosh so when you run it down a straight edge it won't hang up in that invariable gap between the straight edge and the item you're cutting. No turned up edge on the DeWalt. In addition on the DeWalt's shoe plate where there are the marks indicating the blade path at 45 and and 0 degrees there is a bit of residual casting that makes the 0 degree line indistinct. I suppose a slight high speed modification with a file will cure the problem, but a Sawcat wouldn't require any file work. These, of course, are details, but, hey, that's what carpentry is all about. On the plus side are all the items mentioned by other reviewers-good long cord, easy depth adjustment (although the indicator on the depth gauge sits far enough away from the gauge to make exact reading questionable), external brushes, good balance, and power. Whether or not the DeWalt can stand up to years of gaff like a Sawcat, I can't say. In sum, the DeWalt is a decent saw for the price, but guys like me will keep looking for that stash of new old stock Sawcats.

4-0 out of 5 stars The Best DeWalt Circular Saw ever made!
While it being an impressive claim considering the quality of DeWalt portable tools, the DW364 is still a far cry from the Super Sawcat of the late to early 90's.

The DW364 was the first Dewalt (of the yellow variety) circular saw that featured an electric brake. It's strong shoe/base coupled with a strong knob/depth adjuster makes this as solid a saw out in the market. Blade changing is practical with the blade lock feature. Easy motor brush access, makes this saw very easy to self-service.

Good saw that has only proven itself

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent saw, but not perfect
In 1998 I was buying a few of the last high-end items needed to start my own roofing company when I bought this saw. After dealing on several other tools, I asked the salesman (a retired general contractor) what was the best circular saw in the store. Without pause, he grabbed this DeWalt. I have other saws available, but this is practically the only saw that I've used since June of '98. I'm a teacher so I only do carpentry in the summers, but still this saw has been subject to a lot of use and more than a little abuse. It still works perfectly. It's an incredibly powerful and durable saw. If you use good quality blades, I don't believe that the wood exists that it can't cut through with ease.

If there were three things that I'd do to improve it, it would be these:
1. make it lighter
2. left-side cutting blade instead of right-side
3. laser-light guide for cutting

I know that the first two are already available on newer models, but I've yet to use them. If everything else is the same, those saws should be darn close to perfect. My next circular saw will be a DeWalt, but it might be several years until I need one.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent saw!
Nothing but good experience with this saw. Great power, good ergonomics, and totally reliable. The shoe is sturdy, perfectly aligned, and promotes smooth cutting when used with a straightedge. The front-mounted depth adjust knob is far more convenient and more sturdy than the usual rear-mounted depth adjust nut. The blade brake works exceptionally well.

Highly recommended!

5-0 out of 5 stars Has It All!
Owned this saw for over 10 years. Has really good power, even when the cut is off and the blade gets twisted a bit. Depth gauge and trapeze blade drop are great features--the later moves the blade up/down while maintaining the saw grip at the same angle. Most others rotate the grip up as the depth decreases. Forward grip handle twist locks the depth, easy to use and secures tightly. Good line-of-sight for the cut-line, never a problem! Great buy for the $'s. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Very nice inexpensive Dado set.
I recently used this Dado after I did a review on it in Duckworks Magazine, the premiere online boat building magazine in the USA. As a tool columnist, I get to try out some of the best tools on this planet and I can rate this Dado set among them. Avenger is not a woodshop name used a lot yet, but it will be.

The folks at Avenger are striving to offer great products at exceptional value. This Dado set puts a quality tool in your hands for much less than most competition and we are not talking about freight sales either. Master Craftsmen make these tools to exacting standards and they give you a fit and finish that you find only from tools costing three times this price.

Make sure you look at Avengers fine measuring instruments also. With a stacked dado set you will need an accurate caliper set and Avenger offers both dial and digital calipers at outstanding values.

3-0 out of 5 stars Attention
This unit cuts a fairly flat bottom dado, the outside cutters go
maybe 15 thou, deeper than the chippers. But the unit is not as
advertised, it is made of C-2 instead of C-4, no 3/32inch
chipper and only 5 shims.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Dado
Tool cut a flat bottom and smooth sides. The one drawback is that the tool is somewhat hard to see which side is to be out when setting in the table saw. The manufacture could have marked the main blades as to which side goes out.

For performace you could not buy a better dado. ... Read more
