Excellent Safety
This is an excellent unit.I did some serious shopping for a locking box and this is perfect.Durable, reliable and a lot of space.I go away on business trips so often that I need the protection without having to worry about my mail.This is a tough box and a great deal.

The Perfect Mailbox - We Feel Very Secure
We are convinced that my husband's identity theft problem was a result of someone taking bills and other mail from our mailbox and using the information.We were so upset by the incident that we were going to get a post office box.Then we found this mailbox, bought it, and are completely satisfied.We never worry about our mail anymore - even when we're on vacation.We have recommended Mailguard to all our friends and neighbors.

Illusion of Safety
The bolt seems adequate to me, the problem is the hinge mechanism is a joke; I had to pop it into place by hand.A thief could pop this open in 1/2 second.Ironically, the mail compartment is hard to open normally, I will probably need a pry bar just to get my mail.They also only provided 3 out of 4 mounting screws.The flag mounting design is also poor, although I wont ever use it so I don't care.

Update: while attempting to sand down the door so that it would be openable, it fell onto the floor.The top mail slot broke off, and is now unusable; the bottom ("secure") mail door popped off its hinges.This thing is worthless.

Fantastic Product
I highly recommend this mailbox.So well designed and so well made.It carries all the mail of our family of 8 for several days.It cost less than any other locking mailbox I could find.It's good to have this kind of box.I am surprised we haven't had one of these sooner.We love it.
