Great Fiber Cement Siding Tool
This shear works great for installing fiber cement. I used it in conjunction with a fiber cement saw to install about 30 squares worth of siding on my home. The only function that it is not really good for is to trim a small amount off of an edge. That is where the saw comes in. It also produces very little dust. ... Read more

Cement Board Kutter
Used the shear to cut 1/4" cement board for flooring underlay, it cut like going through butter. I was even able to do some simple cut-out around vent holes. If you are cutting cement board, buy or rent this tool, it makes cutting cement board a breeze with no airborne dust. I have used an abrasive blade and cutter in the past, this is the only way to go cutting cement board. The pins used to hold the blade can be abused; they work great as long as you let the shear do the work.

Kett and Porter Cable Shears (same difference)
I own a set of the Kett and the Porter Cable siding shears.They appear to be exactly the same.In fact I've replaced the blades in the Porter Cable with the Kett replacement set. You get the center and both side blades for less than you pay for just the PC center blade.
They both have the same problem. The bolts that hold the blades in are constantly breaking,and can be a pain to replace.

WELL THOUGHT OUT AND WELL BUILT
I HAVE HAD THE CUTTER FOR ABOUT TWO WEEKS AND FOUND THAT THE GUYS TEND TO FIGHT OVER WHO GETS TO CARRY IT UP BECAUSE THEY WANT IT FOR THEMSELVES!! THE CUTTER HANDLES THE STRAIGHT CUTS WITH EASE, AND THE LONG VALLY CUTS ARE VERY EASY TO SETUP. THE GUIDE IS VERY WELL DESIGNED AND EASY TO SET. IT ALSO COMES WITH COMPLETE INSTRUCTIONS TO ADJUST THE BLADE ANYTIME INSTEAD OF HAVING TO BUY NEW ONES!!! I SEE A LOT OF LABOR SAVINGS ALREADY. THANKS BUNKY

THE SHINGLE SHARK WORKS GREAT WHEN ITS NEW. BUT NOW AFTER USING IT TO HELP ME INSTALL ABOUT 300 SQ THE FIXED BLADE IS NO LONGER STRAIGHT BUT HAS A CURVE WORN IN IT WHERE IT GETS THE MOST USE. FOR WHAT YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR THE THING THEY SHOULD MAKE THE BLADES CHANGABLE.

Quality Tool for Specific Task
I am building my own home and installing cement fiber siding. I had an eliptical and full circle transom around which I had to install 1/2" Hardi-trim, as well as lap siding and Hardi-shingles. I reluctantly paid the price for this single use tool because I was getting less than satisfactory results around an oval window using just a cement fiber blade in a circular saw, not to mention the cloud of choking dust which I'm sure will cause me cancer some day. One criticism is that the information for this tool does NOT SAY it will cut up to 1/2" fiber cement. It will do this handily. On straight cuts, it's clean and faster than a circular blade. On mild arcs, it works best if you cut from left to right (imagine the blade sweeping clockwise). On more aggressive arcs, it will cut but the end result may need a good bit of clean up with a utility knife. The aggressive arcs also require a good deal more force to make the turns. These comments all relate to 1/2". With standard 5/16" fiber cement siding, this machine cuts like a hot knife through butter. Another thing; I wish I had this tool when I was balanced on a scaffold last week instead of using the circular saw. It's solidly built. I dropped it several times from many feet. It feels competent and comfortable in my hand. I own many power tools and am sick of promised performance. In this case, I would recommend this to professionals as well as those who fear the amateur but very doable task of installing fiber cement siding. My new Kett KE440 shears quit after one hour of use. Motor wasn't getting juice, loose wire. It took Kett an unreasonably long time to turn around the warranty repair, and they had to be called once and asked where is it. Seems the product quality is low, and the people aren't too concerned about their buyers. Buy a DeWalt, I did.

Kett KE440 14-Gauge Power Shears A nice addition to my tools
I read the only review of this product before I ordered mine.. and the previous reviewer seems not to like his... so with a slight amount of trepidation I ordered a shear of my own.... ( I already own the 18 guage version and the 16 gage additional head) I am currently working on a project covering skateboard ramps with 14 guage steel to protect them from the elements... I didn't think my 16 guage shear was going to be long for this world using it on the heavier metal...So I got this one... It is doing an awe-inspirng job.... I have used in the past the shears with two jaws... like the Bosch and the Dewalt....and for doing tight radius' they are great... but these cut straight lines effortlessly and will do larger radii quite well. On a skate ramp 5 foot radii would be tight... I am thoroughly satified with these shears and would highly recomend them to anyone...The Variable speed option is great.... I didn't think I would care about it....I would however ..based on my previous experience with Kett products, get a spare set of teeth (jaws?) because surprizes happen... All in all I'm very happy.. I would also reccomend the metal case... It's a handy place to keep your spare cutters and the grease...

i am a cabinet installer and counter top fabricator. i bought this shear for trimming laminates......the trimmer head does chip out a little when trimming p/lam. it does trim well but i cannot say that it is top notch..it will do the job for you......and is great for metal.....btu with all p/lam be careful ... Great system
This system works great and makes it POSSIBLE to hang siding with only one person working. It works fine as is for ground level work or working from a scafold. I am buying a second set for ladder work so both ends can be supported while go down for my nailer. Well worth the money.

This is the ticket for hardi-plank installation
True..the picture is misleading, there is only one of the hangers in the package, and there are times when 2 would be helpful.
Overall these tools exceeded my expectations, I'm finishing up on a 500 piece installation and I've hung every piece single handed with these tools.

The picture will deceive.
I have not used this set yet so I don't know how well it is going to work. Appears it will work pretty well.
