4-0 out of 5 stars Look inside the wall without gutting it
Very useful in remodelling work for assessing exisiting plumbing/HVAC work, framing and finding that fish tape that you just can't seem to maneuver correctly. My only complaint is that the light could be brighter. Sure it is a "nich" tool - but it is priceless when it solves a major headache with minor damage to walls. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Amazon reshipped defective product to me! OUTRAGEOUS!
I got my Ultrastinger from Amazon today. It has a cracked/torn rubber nipple over the on/off switch, and from all the fingemarks and other tell-tale little marks on it, it's clearly a USED, PRE-OWNED item. Other evidence: the product box was not shrink-wrapped or sealed as it should be, and the battery was fully charged (new flashlights do not come with fully charged NiCad batteries).

I am outraged that Amazon would re-ship a returned, defective item, but that's exactly what has happened. This makes me very wary of ordering from them again. I immediately ordered that UPS come to pick this up and take it back at no charge to me. Now I have to "wait 7-12 days" AFTER they get this POS back before I get a refund. Nice.

Also, now that I've seen the way the rubber switch cover fails, I've decided not to get this product anyway. I'll have to look into another manufacturer.

5-0 out of 5 stars THE BEST & THE BRIGHTEST!!!
//..

The Streamlight Ultra Stinger™ Rechargable flashlight ROCKS!!!

I am a gadget nut, and I have a very large number of flashlights. IMHO, there is no better all-around flashlight than Streamlight's Ultra Stinger.

It truly is amazing how bright and light-weight this flashlight is. It puts out up to 75,000 candlepower yet weighs only 1.1 pounds. Not only is it bright, but you can focus the light to a small, penetrating beam that can be seen for miles.

Don't let the light weight fool you, however. This flashlight feels rock-solid in your hand, and it can take a licking. I take mine running almost every night, and have dropped it on the pavement more than a few times, and it just keeps going.

The Ultra Stinger is also durable and reliable. I've had my current model for over two years now, and the battery is still fine. I did have to replace the light bulb once, but that's not bad considering how many hours it's been in use and how many times I've recharged it.

The only flashlight that even compares to the Ultra Stinger is the SureFire 10X Dominator™. The Dominator weighs only 1.25 lbs and has a two-lamp assembly that allows you to run it at 60 lumens (roughly 36,000 CP by my calculations, about half the output of the Ultra Stinger) for up to 3 hours, or at an incredibly bright 500 lumens for up to 20 minutes. Yes, 500 lumens (or roughly 300,000 CP) is 4X brighter than the Ultra Stinger, but the light is UNFOCUSED, so the brightness is lost over any real distance as the light diffuses. When you factor in the ridiculously high price of the Dominator (the best price I could find on the Internet was $360!), you can see why I recommend the Streamlight as the overall champion. The Dominator is a great flashlight in its own right, of course, so probably the best idea is to get both.

I have several other flashlights from Streamlight, and they are all very well-made. Nevertheless, whenever I want a nice bright flashlight, I always go for my Ultra Stinger. My only serious question about it is, how can Streamlight make the Ultra Stinger so bright and light-weight, while their other models don't even come close? The brightest flashlight in the SL- series is the SL-35, which weighs 2.8 pounds (almost 3X more than the Ultra Stinger) and puts out up to 40,000 CP (Slightly more than half that of the Ultra Stinger). Plus, it's more expensive! The MSPR on the SL-35 is $229.95 vs. $174.95 for the Ultra Stinger. That math doesn't add up.

Other unbelievable examples: Streamlight's 3.3 pound 8-Watt Vulcan™ spotlight can generate up to 50,000 CP, and the 7.4 pound 20-Watt Litebox™ spotlight can kick out up to 70,000 CP. How is it even remotely possible that the Ultra Stinger, weighing in at 1.1 pounds and sporting a 10-Watt bulb, can out-shine these oversized hogs? The obvious answer is "runtime" - the Litebox™ can run at 20 Watts for up to 3.5 hours compared to a 1 hour runtime for the Ultra Stinger. Who cares - I'll take the Ultra Stinger every time!

Streamlight should take their older lights off the market and replace them or update them with the better technology found in the Ultra Stinger, like they did with the new Stinger HP. The Stinger HP weighs 12.2 ounces and kicks out 40,000 CP. Plus, the beam can be focused, while the SL- series is "pre-focused".

I'm sure that Streamlight is on the case -- the HP models are nice, and I really like the Pro Polymer LED lights, too. I just wish that they could come out with an affordable competitor to the $1,800 Maxabeam 6 million CP spotlight.

BUY THIS FLASHLIGHT -- YOU'LL BE GLAD YOU DID!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars It's only competitor is the sun.
I have never seen anything like this before in my life. The ratio of power to size blows my mind. I had someone shine this at me from about 50 feet away and it actually *blinded* me for about 10 seconds and I felt physically ill for about 10 minutes. If you buy this flashlight, you won't need a new one for about 50 years... because that's how long this thing was built to last.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great serviceable rechargeable light. Good quality.
Streamlight's UltraStinger is really in a niche by itself. Mag Light's rechargeables aren't as bright and SureFire's are much more expensive, so the UltraStringer is really made for someone desiring a quality light that won't break the bank.

Some of the nice features of this light: It's very lightweight, very bright (75,000 candlepower), run time is very good for this much light output. Well made, quality construction.

Some of the cons about this light: Plastic lens (seems only SureFire will give you a genuine Pyrex, glass lens these days) and the spot/flood range isn't really that much of a difference (Mag's spot/flood produces a SPOT or a FLOOD). The Streamlight has a very coarse adjustment range, really being all the same style output, with very LITTLE difference in the SPOT / FLOOD. This isn't as bad as it sounds as the light produced is a very good, pure white light, I'd just like to see more variation in the range, but I'm being picky here.

One thing's for certain; this light is much better than Mag's rechargeable and a lesser light than SureFire's 8 or 9N rechargeable. But, it's also half the price of the SureFire and 80% less than SureFire's 10-X. So, I've got to give it 5 stars for being a great value, occupying a market not really served by either Mag or SureFire.

If you're a contractor or home inspector, this light is THE value on the market in a bright, quality constructed rechargeable.

5-0 out of 5 stars Streamlight UltraStinger: I gotta wear shades
I've had a Streamlight UltraStinger for a little while now. Let me say that this is one, bright light!

+'s: BRIGHT, rechargeable, lightweight, adjustable beam from spotlight to floodlight, good quality/workmanship (not that cheap plastic stuff!), pushbutton switch (on/off/momentary on), up to 1 hour between charges, small diameter (easy for people with small hands to hold).

-'s: expensive, slightly long, charge time is long.

This flashlight is a little large to take with you when walking the dog, but it's not too bulky so you can bring it if you want.

This package from Amazon comes with both chargers (wall and car) so it's very convenient to throw it back in the charger when you are done using it. The charger is made so that you can place the flashlight into it by sliding it in from the top, or "snapping" it in from the front. A nice feature if you are limited on space when mounting the charger.

I have one in the car to read those street signs on those dark roads. Just as good as a Q-Beam spotlight, but smaller.

Would I get another one? Definitely! They are expensive, but you get what you pay for. ... Read more

You'll be blown away by the light that comes from this little unit-—it's amazing. It provides a bright swath of light so much bigger than what we expected. Seven super-bright, 100,000-hour light-emitting diodes LEDs mean you'll never have to replace a bulb. We love its ergonomic shape and how it feels in hand. Even with its included batteries loaded, it weighs just six ounces. A helmet clamp is available to affix it to your headgear. We think this is the perfect light for camping, for police and fire professionals, electricians, plumbers (because it's waterproof!), and homeowners for when the power fails.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Best value for a flashlight
This is the first LED light I have found that can really replace that clunky-yet-popular aluminum brand. This light has a smoother, whiter beam than a Krypton lamp (the kind pretty much all standard flashlights use). Xenon bulbs are brighter than the LED's, but Xenon flashlights only have one bulb that is overheating, delicate, expensive, and inefficient. Instead of just one or two LEDs like cheaper lights, this one uses 7 of the highest quality LEDs I have seen. The LEDs are efficient, run at a low temperature (because they produce so little wasted heat), are durable if dropped, and don't burn out.

It is comparable to a typical light that uses 2 C-cell batteries, but a smoother beam without black spots. A set of 4 AA batteries lasts for the better part of a week, as opposed to the old piece of garbage light you keep in the closet that only goes for about half of a day on 2 C batteries.

If you live in an area where you can lose power for almost a whole day (or occassionally several days in a bad storm), this is a flashlight that you can actually use. Leave it on in the middle of the room until the power comes back so you don't trip on anything. They also make a model that uses C-cells, has 10 LEDs instead of 7, and lasts twice as long.

5-0 out of 5 stars intensely modern and efficient
This slick, multi-LED-bulbed beauty is well worth the premium price (compared to other, more mundane flashlights.) It is well-designed and uses but a fraction of the battery power of its traditional Ray-oVac, etc rivals. It is a broad flood-light pattern, so hold on to your Mag-lites for the smaller, more focused jobs.

2-0 out of 5 stars Streamlight ignors defect, no way to treat customers.
I like this light, it does what I expected except one of the seven LED is out.
I made contact with Streamlight the day my light arrived yet have had NO response,
its been 7 weeks. Is it too much to ask for a product to preform as designed? I paid for a 7 LED light not a 6. All I need is a replacement bulb head.
StreamLight, I hope you see this and change your ways, with good products good service must follow. I would have ordered more but if this is an "AS-IS" product at premium prices I'll look long and hard before spending my money on any streemlight products. I tell it the way I know best and regret negitive info, I hope its just an oversight but have seen others telling the same here at Amazon.

3-0 out of 5 stars LED Failure!
Based on other reviewers' comments, I must have the only faulty example of this flashlight Streamlight has produced. The 4AA performs well indoors, but lacks the light output to be considered adequate for all-around use. Light output diminishes rapidly after only a few hours, and the manufacturer's claims of hundreds of hours of light output are exaggerated. In addition, the LED's in my light began to fail after only about five house of use. First, one LED began blinking and then went out altogether. Finally only three of the seven LED's were burning. I have returned the light to Streamlight with the hopes they would replace this faulty product.

5-0 out of 5 stars The only Flashlight youll ever need
Unless you need a beam that will light up and object 30+ feet away you will consider the battery life and effectivness of this flashlight as worth 3 times its cost. I like this one better than my maglite 4 D battery light. But the mag light is better when you need to see far ahead. Still I would highly recomment this one if you need a general duty flashlight and worry about bulb and battery repacement every 25 hours or so.
Best emergency flashlight imaginable. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Poor performer underwater/ NOT shock resistant
I bought one of these lights to work underwater and the seals failed filling the battery compartment with water. Streamlight replaced it, but when dropped from 4 feet to a carpeted floor it failed..replacement LED is 37.95 with shipping and replacement Streamlight 3C LED can be had for $39.00 so...I am tossing the Streamlight 3C LED in trash can and taking the loss...Sorry, but this item is not reliable, durable, or dependable..such a surprise for a company with such a good rep

5-0 out of 5 stars Once you've had LED you'll never go back.
This thing puts out an amazing amount of light and the batteries last forever. I keep one in the trunk of every car I own (3).

3-0 out of 5 stars Streamlight 33202 LED 3C NOT Waterproof
Everything said about this flashlight is spot on except for the fact that after using underwater in less than 10 feet, the battery compartment leaked and the batteries turned to rusted mush. So much for the claims of being waterproof!!! Otherwise a really nice flashlight but not the rugged competitor it claims to be...
So far have not heard from the manufacturer about servicing the warranty...will let you know

3-0 out of 5 stars It grows on you
Very nice product for what it does, but it takes some getting used to. First the good. Appears very durable and has a nice feel to it when carrying. Excellent for inside a house, such as during a power outage. The white light is very diffuse and wide angle illuminating a large area or an entire room.

Now for the not-so-good. The on switch in at the end of unit - inconvenient. The LED light is very different from the traditional flashlights and may not be what you expect. The light is not focused. Used outdoors, the diffuse light will illuminate I found relatively good up to only about 30 feet. The beam cannot be focused from a diffuse pattern to a sharp compact beam. My mag light is definitely better for outdoors.

Overall, nice product but it serves a niche. Definitely not the only flashlight I would want - or need - to own.

2-0 out of 5 stars Don't Drop This Flashlight
Contrary to what a previous reviewer said about being able to throw it against a wall without breaking it, this flashlight did not survive a 2 foot fall from my young childs hand onto the street this Halloween evening.

It is broken and no longer working. I had it a week. Update 11/14/03-after several emails back and forth, the company did send a free replacement LED bulb unit. The flashlight works again. Only thing now is that they sent blue LED lights instead of the white ones I had originall purchased. I've raised the ranking one more star for their response, albeit flawed.

Be careful it is fragile despite it's looks. Don't be fooled by claims by other reviewers who have not put it through a simple test by a child dropping it. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Ingenuity at its Best, Genius Time and Money Saver
As a drywall contractor, portable lighting is crucial to my job.I bought one of these wobble lights to try out a few months ago. While it costs a little more than regular tripods, the light provides more light than several traditional lights and I can vouch it will last longer than any light I have ever used. To anyone that can appreciate a true work light, this is the light for you. When working on a two story home before the railings were installed, not only did this light illuminate the entire upper floor but when accidentally knocked down the stairs, the thing stayed lit and suffered no damage whatsoever. The size may be a little different but instead of carrying 3 or 4 tripods I only have to carry one wobble light which makes up for it.Not to mention any standard light would have crashed after the stair accident and had to be replaced. What a great invention.

5-0 out of 5 stars Never buy another one.
Bought several of these light a couple years ago and they STILL WORK!!!Unlike regular tripods which break and need constant bulb replacement, these things last. The one time cost will more than pay for the 10 tripod lights you would need to replace over the length of any project. Not only the replacement cost but the cost to replace the bulbs or fix regular tripods make this light a great deal.I highly recommend trying one and am sure you will want more.

I have used one of these for about one year. The unit does everyting that it claims to.The bulb is almost indestructiable.I have knocked, dropped it, and generallt abused it.I have changed the bulb (propriteray only) once.I love the light it gives, the recations are excelletnt.( Is thata bouy?)The only drawbacks anre that it is a bit hard to carrry, and store as it is a bit bulky.Otherwise I love it. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Best penlight I've tried
The ability to use AAAA-diameter cells from a relatively thrifty and very common Duracell 9V battery is nice, as AAAA standard cells aren't widely stocked. The surprisingly bright little LED draws more than a third of a watt (90mA) from fresh cells, and it shows colors much more vividly than standard incandescent flashlights do.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best $14 I ever spent!
First, I've found all LED lights that make outragous claims of average battery life of dozens to hundreds of hours is either misleading or totally wrong... no matter what brand or where you bought them from. They either go totally dark in much less than half the rated time, or have gone too dim to even read large print with the light pressed closely to the page. To even get close to half the rated life, skip the alkalines, you must use expensive lithium or the highest capacity NiMi rechargables available on the planet.

So they all lie about or misrepresent your actual battery life. I'm sure some of them, if you put the most expensive batteries in the world in them, run the light almost to their rated battery life, if you take them into a fully darkend room, & hold the light to your face, strain your eyes, you will find the LEDs are still glowing very faintly... but that's not useful light.

I haven't found AAAA rechargables or lithiums, but you won't need them.

This is the only LED light I ever found that doesn't give you bull on battery life. It uses a single LED & 3 AAAA alkaline batteries that can be obtained cheap from many sources. Slightly longer than an oridinary pen, I take it everywhere, & is always with me at work. As an engineer, I've used it several times daily for over 6 months with the original batteries. I thought it might be getting a little dimmer so recently put fresh batteries in it. Although it got brighter, not significantly, so I put the old batteries back in. This light just won't die. Lot's brighter than any keychain light, it's as useful as most big lights. It fell 14' from a ladder onto solid concrete, into puddles, snow, & got paint & glue on it. Using harsh chemicals & scraping to get all the paint & glue off, it still looks & works like brand new. I don't know what they used to paint that light with, but there's not a scatch on it anywhere... no dents yet either. Solid & durable. Your best light will be the one that works when you need it to, & is close at hand. Best $14 I ever spent!

4-0 out of 5 stars Very good pen light
Streamlight Stylus is a very good pen light. It is surprisingly bright for a single-LED flashlight. And since it uses three AAAA sized batteries, the light won't go dead on you easily.

Stylus has a light switch at the end of the body. The light burns as long as you keep the switch depressed. If you need to have your both hands free, you can twitch the endcap, so you have a constant on light. The body of the flashlight is very well made and durable, and the light switch has a good feel to it. Along with the light, you get a removable sleeve. When the sleeve is on, the light beam is narrower and more focused. If you need a wider beam, just remove the sleeve.

My main gripe about the flashlight is that it is a bit too long. It will probably fit into your shirt pocket, but it is clearly longer than a typical pen. So, it is very uncomfortable to carry the light in your pants pocket, for example. If there were a Stylus that used only two batteries instead of three, I believe that would be a better penlight overall. And if you need a keychain -size flashlight, Stylus is naturally way too big for that application.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Little Light
This is really a terrific light. It uses LED technology whichtells you the following. The "bulb" is virtually unbreakable and appears to have an unbelievable work life (can you believe 100,000 hours). Run that on your pocket calculator see what that comes to in days and years.

Next, even though the LED burns with a pure white brilliance, it is cool to the touch. This is the light I let my 7 year old niece use. Because LEDs draw little power compared to the light they put out, they don't need large batteries. The battery size is AAAA. This allows for a very light weight tool.

If you need both hands free, you can hold this light in your mouth for a long time because of the light weight (no pun!) It also remains in your pocket forever without drawing attention to itself because of its size.

Also of great importance is that this is not just a toy(even though it is fun!) It is a real working tool. I am a physician and this is my little exam light. It works great at examining eyes and throats. You may find it useful in dozens of situations. Because of its size it can go everywhere- home, car, shirt or jacket pocket, purse or briefcase and so on. There are also different colored bulbs for specialty applications I won't go into here.

One of the complaints I have seen is regarding the AAAA batteries. First of all, the batteries last for a very long time because of the low power drain. You may never change the batteries. Secondly, the batteries are freely available at Walgreens which seem to be everywhere these days. They are in the specialty battery section with the hearing aid and photo batteries.I occasionally check and I have always found the AAAA's in stock.

The major limitation is that even though it puts out a lot of light for its size, it is a "pen light". If you need to light a whole room up you will need a bigger light.

Bottom line- this is a really great light. For the price, you can purchase several and leave them wherever you might need them.

LED technology is revolutionizing flashlights in the 21ST century and these lights are classical demonstrations of advanced technology. They do more things:put out more light, use less electrical power, weigh less, are less likely to break, and cost less. Enjoy!

I've had this light for over 6 months. This little light has beena great asset in all of the places I've used it from working on a PC to crawling under a sink. For its size, this flashlight proovides quite a bit of light. The nicest thing is has over a flashlight, other than its easy to carry size, is that is doesn't leave part of the illuinated area dark like you would experience with a normal bulb since this uses an LED. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Powerful + Survived Blackout 2003
Early this year, I was shopping for a mini book lamp. I had only two choices:
1. Zelco "itty bitty" Book Light
2. Petzel E44p Headlamp.
Researched both products. Finally, decided Petzel E44P was the one for me based on reviews and the overall product specs . I purchased two Petzel headlamps and I'm happy that I made the right choice.
Petzel:
- Small, portable and powerful
- Light, Stable, Comfortable and Powerful lamp
- Handy Utility Lamp -
- Night Reading - Excellent
- Offer great lighting when you are working in a tight spot.
- Petzel E44P became my essential survival tool during the GREAT Blackout 2003!
- Pay more - Priceless for a Rock Solid Product
- Battery Perfect Size
- Powerful LED lamp vs. standard yellow light
- Long Lasting battery - The batteries are over 6 months old and it is still going strong.

Cons: Closing the battery lid was not easy.
On/Off switch could be better.

5-0 out of 5 stars Nearly perfect; just watch how you take it off
This is a nearly perfect headlamp.

Positive points:
1) Best battery life of any headlamp that I've seen. LED lamps, low power consumption, etc. mean that it easily gets 100 hours per set of batteries.
2) Lightest, most comfortable headlamp on the market, especially for daily use and/or "in your pocket, when I need it" use.
3) Terrific as a "go put the dog out" or "reading in bed" light.

Bottom line: it's really cool; works great, can be packed away, and used as a hand lamp...get one. You'll love it.

Minor caveats:
1) There's a little warning slip in the package, but in case you miss that: to avoid unpleasant surprises, DO use two hands to take it off, so the rear pad doesn't jump off the back of your head and hit your hand.
2) It's not waterproof, and not as secure as some of the higher-end sport headlamps. Therefore, when pursuing physically vigorous activities, you may want a headlamp that is a little more secure. This is fine, however, for jogging, biking, reading in bed, etc.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic For Camping And Many Other Uses!
I purchased my first Zipka as a stocking stuffer for my husband, HOPING he would use it. It gets used all the time! Taking out the trash, in the workshop, as a book light, around the house and of course Camping! My whole family has since purchased them. The battery lasts forever and its a great way to tend the fire or cook without having to set up a lantern or other light source. Its light weight and durable too. Even my small cousins have them and they work great!

5-0 out of 5 stars Wow- lasts forever, great product!
This light never dies due to its LED technology. It is not extremely bright but definitely bright enough for illuminating your path at night. It is great for power outages or camping. I feel much safer walking or jogging at night in my neighborhood. Light-weight, very good attachment mechanism. This product is a major improvement compared to the standard head lamp, to the point that everybody should have one. It is a perfect gift in that it is (1) reasonable price, (2) usable by anybody, (3) sufficiently different that people are unlikely to already have it, (4) truly useful/safety feature as opposed to worthless junk that is most gifts.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great light for occasional use
I am a private pilot and carry this light in my flight bag. It has proven to be phenomenally useful. I highly recommend it for any situation where you need an occasional light (household use, in your car, boat, for camping, etc.) For portable, occasional use, this cannot be beat. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Streamlight Stinger: Great rechargeable light
The Stinger is a great rechargeable light. It's small yet provides a bright amount of light for about an hour. With the adjustable lens, you can choose a floodlight or spotlight.

The Stinger comes with two charging cradles and an AC cord and DC cord so you can have one in your car and one at home. Therefore you can always have your Stinger charging to be used whenever you need it. The extra bulb in the tailcap is also nice.

+'s: small, bright, fits easy in your hands, adjustable beam, 1 hour run time, you can charge the battery without taking it out of the flashlight, charging cradles allow you to place the flashlight from the top or "snapped" in from the front.

-'s: long charge time unless you buy the "fast" charger.

If you need to constantly use a flashlight that is small but powerful (security guard, handyman, plumber), the Stinger will not disappoint you. The rechargeable battery will save you money in the long run.

Although expensive, it is good quality and I would buy this flashlight again. For a brighter light, check out the Stinger HP which is rated almost 3 times as bright. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Nothing that some re-engineering couldn't fix.
The saw is great, the light needs a little work. Unlike what the picture implies, the light fastens at the very back of the saw. The light extends out straight to the front of the saw. Given how far out it has to stretch and with the weight of the light fixture attached, it should be stiffer. After running the saw for a while, the light actually starts to droop down. You have to keep pushing it up. The size of the light head is nice as you can get close to your work without the fixture obstructing your view. The downside of the fixture size is that the bulb is difficult to screw in. There's no room to get your fingers around the bulb. I finally taped a piece of masking tape to the front lens so I could screw it in. I'm not looking forward to replacing the bulb, I don't know how I would loosen it. The unit is made in China but is well constructed. Nothing sloppy about it. Bolts on the saw perfectly using the two rearmost bolts that are already on the saw. The hex key they provide could be a little better fit but it did work. All in all the concept is a good one. It's a nice accessory to have, makes cutting a lot easier. I hope Dewalt will re-engineer it and bring it up to the standard of their scroll saw.

1-0 out of 5 stars Great saw but don't buy the light
The saw is great the light is not. The light does not stay adjusted as the saw is used. It is virtually impossible to replace the bulb. If you can get the bulb out, finding a replacement is difficult. Don't bother to order the light! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars That's 6,500 Candlepower alright!
One night I was fixing my speakers in the rear of the car. I used my Scorpion Streamlight to give me some extra light. For some reason I accidently left the flashlight on when it was sitting on the backseat. Meanwhile, several minutes later I smelled some burning and it was the Scorpion slowly burning a hole through my back seat. I was upset but surprised by the power of this little flashlight. Whenever I bust out this little guy out my friends react in awe by how much light comes from this little flashlight. I'm quite pleased but the batteries aren't cheap. My advice on batteries are to look for some on Ebay that run cheaper and buy in bulk. It has a nice rubberized grip for nice handling. I even hold it with my teeth when my hands are occuppied as I look at my engine in my car at night. This flashlight kicks the shizzle out of a maglite but it really drains the batteries if you have it one for a long time.

4-0 out of 5 stars Very good general purpose flashlight
Streamlight Scorpion is a very good general purpose flashlight, as the light is bright, and quite even when the beam is set tigth. The light is easy to operate with tailcap end click-on switch, but there is no separate momentary switch. You can depress the click-on switch halfway down to get the same effect, but that is not as good a solution as a separate momentary switch would have been.

The light is brigth with fresh batteries, but the light dims quite fast as the batteries are used. The light bulb heats up with constant use, and that can melt a hole into the plastic lens. That has happened twice to me, as the light has been clicked on accidentally without me noticing that. The light beam is adjustable, but when adjusted wide, there are some serious dark rings on the beam. The body of the flashlight is covered with rubber sleeve. I like the feel of that, although it is possible that the flashlight can stick to clothing when removed from pocket, but I haven't any problems like that.

This flashlight is a very good choice for general purpose flashlight, and the price is reasonable. It is not suitable for a tactical light (for law enforcement, for example), mainly because it has no momentary switch.

5-0 out of 5 stars Bright Light in a Small Package
The Streamlight Scorpion is a small light that puts out a lot of brightness for its size.

Powered by 2, 3-volt lithium batteries this flashlight is pretty small (both in diameter and length). You'll be amazed how such a small flashlight can light up a room or an object at night.

The pushbutton switch is on the bottom of the light, so that might take getting used to. It's a three function switch (on/off/momentary on). The body of the flashlight is coated with rubber, so it's easy to grip if your hands are wet. However, this makes it difficult to bring out if you keep it in your pants pocket or a holster.

The beam quality is nice: no "holes" or "rings" in the spotlight.

Pluses: small size, bright light, manufacturer with good reputation for quality, lithium batteries have 10 year shelf life.

Minues: Takes 3-Volt lithium batteries (can be expensive), flashlight is fairly expensive.

This is a good light to keep in the car glove compartment for emergencies because it's small and the lithium batteries will keep for a long time.

Would I buy this again? Yes, but because of the cost I would make sure that I don't lose it. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Nice try but.......
As an electrician in a hospital I work in areas where a flashlight is a must. A headlamp is the obvious answer. The Trident ( and I also just purchased the Streamlight Argo) produce good light but battery life on both is miserable. The Argo is one large LED so their is no excuse for short battery life. The Trident has LED and incandescent with the incandescent obviously a bigger drain on the batteries. Three AAA batteries just aren't enough power! ... Read more
