3-0 out of 5 stars Not for medium-size wheels
What I like about this stand is that it's sturdy. Also, the size is pretty good for standard bikes.

I had two problems with this stand, but they are likely the exception rather than the rule:

1. My box contained two "left" racks. Picture this:
Symmetrical: U--U
Two left racks: -U-U
Oops.
The problem with simply reversing the U-shaped rack on the left is that the front/top of each U contains recessed holes that allow the heads of certain screws to sit flush with the tube. If you reverse a U, you lose that cosmetic benefit (and you need longer screws). This is a minor problem and it's probably an exceptional case. If you're the one who got the box with two "right" Us, feel free to propose a trade :)

2. A standard-size road bike fits adequately. On my non-standard bike, the 24" wheels are too small to fit into the U-shaped racks. The problem is due to the angle of the U-shaped racks with respect to the floor, the size of the tube at the base of the rack, and how those factors impact the rear derailleur. (It's a long story. I won't try to explain it.)
The wheels don't fit in the "alternate direction" either, due to insufficient clearance between the arch of the U and the rear base tube of the rack.

1-0 out of 5 stars Quality Control...
I received my Racor PBS-2R bike rack today and was quite disappointed the minute that I opened the box. The rack was shipped in its original packaging and the box was mildly beat up. Most of the hardware was floating around in the box not in the bags like they should have been. Most of the pieces were scratched as well.
Once I started putting it together I realized that I had two left U's. Flipping over one of the U's works, but the screws will no longer be recessed like they should be. It works, but I am not the only person to have this problem. There are other people who have complained about the same problem here on Amazon. After reading the other reviews I decided against ordering two, and ordered only one to be safe. I am glad I did. I won't be ordering the second one unless they improve their Quality Control.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for the money
I had the same issue as another reviewer - the same "U" brackets (i.e. two "left" brackets) - I called the company - this is intentional (probably to save money). You will need to use two longer screws for one of the "U"s and two of the shorter ones for the "U" with the recessed holes (none of this makes sense now - but it will when you put it together). But it will fit together. Once done - it works great - holds my Specialized Rockhopper very firmly - and looks good (second bike - no problem). For the money (29.99 at amazon plus free shipping) - was best price around.

1-0 out of 5 stars missing pieces
Can't rate the product 'cause I can't put it together. Box was not taped for shipping and arrived without the bag of hardware. If you're going to buy one, find one in a store if you can and inspect it carefully before taking it home. Shame on Amazon.

5-0 out of 5 stars great for kid and adult sized bikes
We have four bikes - 2 adults and two kids. So, I bought two stands, and they work great. I turned it around for the kids' bikes and put the front tire in first. We have had no problem with them falling over. Even my four-year old is putting his bike away now! I was very tired of tripping over bikes - its nice to (1) have a way to keep the bikes upright, and (2) have a desginated place to park them.

Bonus - two scooters fit nicely in the front side of the kids bike rack - we just leaned them two opposite ways, and they stay fine.

The price for two was comparible to many four bike systems, but we like the flexability of locating two racks. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars No Support- no spares
The saw works well. However, finding spare chains and blades is impossible (inputing the part# for the chain on the Troy-bilt site generates zero!). The blade is a special Oregon Lenz with adjstment built in so standard blades will will not work. It seems that the philosophy is that you buy the saw and then buy another when a new blade/chain is needed: this is a disgrace. ... Read more

Here's the big daddy of home and auto tool sets--everything youcould want for just about any job at home or on the road. Open the lidon this fire-engine red metal toolbox, and you'll feel like a kid onChristmas morning. The tools are dropforged and heat-treated to last, and the sockets and wrenches come in SAE as well as metric sizes. Thescrewdriver bits are, to our delight, in labeled slots in the box, which features a removable tray. There's a great assortment of sockets, including the kind you need for spark plugs, and there's also a niceamount of fasteners. The latches on the tool chest make that satisfying"click" that lets you know they're closed tight. There's even a placeto slip on a padlock if you need to. We think this is a great group oftools for the money. --Kris Jensen-Van Heste ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars You get what you pay for!
For the price you are paying, this toolset is a bargain. However the tools themselves and the contruction of the metal box leave little to be desired. My initial impression of the product was satisfactory until I tried to take the tools out its molded plastic holder. The molds were made a little too small that when I succeeded pulling any of the tools out, the plastic mold was deformed visibly. Also when the socket wrench was a little tight fitting and when I attempted to pull socket out it ended up bending a metal washer inside the rotating portion of wrench. Bottom line is this. For the price you're paying, you will get exactly what you pay for. Luckily comes with a lifetime warranty so if you break something you can get it replaced. If you're a penny pincher then this maybe a tool set for you but if you're looking for a high quality tool set I would recommend you go with a brand name (Craftman, Stanley, etc.)

4-0 out of 5 stars Pretty good.
I like the tool set and all the items that came with it. I have only one complaint, I've only had it for about two weeks and one of the clips on the front side of the box has broken through the housing of the down bracing lock showing poor manufacturing. I'm not picky about tools but I think anyone thinking about buying this item should know about it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect car toolbox
I ordered this because we needed one for the car.It doesn't have a hammer, but throw in a small one of yours and it's perfect. There is also enough room to add other tools you might feel you need. The size is compact, and it fits almost anywhere. The tools are just enough to carry along.Best of all the drawer won't open unless the lid of the box is up.That's a handy feature for transporting from one place to another. It has come in handy twice already, and we've only had it for a for a few weeks.Definitely a best buy for the price.

4-0 out of 5 stars Looking for a hammer ... pass your way ;-)
I like this box, I would have put 3 stars if it was more [pricey] but regarding the low price, I can't expect more ... but I would have loved to get a HAMMER also ... ... Read more

You'll be blown away by the light that comes from this little unit-—it's amazing. It provides a bright swath of light so much bigger than what we expected. Seven super-bright, 100,000-hour light-emitting diodes LEDs mean you'll never have to replace a bulb. We love its ergonomic shape and how it feels in hand. Even with its included batteries loaded, it weighs just six ounces. A helmet clamp is available to affix it to your headgear. We think this is the perfect light for camping, for police and fire professionals, electricians, plumbers (because it's waterproof!), and homeowners for when the power fails.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Best value for a flashlight
This is the first LED light I have found that can really replace that clunky-yet-popular aluminum brand. This light has a smoother, whiter beam than a Krypton lamp (the kind pretty much all standard flashlights use). Xenon bulbs are brighter than the LED's, but Xenon flashlights only have one bulb that is overheating, delicate, expensive, and inefficient. Instead of just one or two LEDs like cheaper lights, this one uses 7 of the highest quality LEDs I have seen. The LEDs are efficient, run at a low temperature (because they produce so little wasted heat), are durable if dropped, and don't burn out.

It is comparable to a typical light that uses 2 C-cell batteries, but a smoother beam without black spots. A set of 4 AA batteries lasts for the better part of a week, as opposed to the old piece of garbage light you keep in the closet that only goes for about half of a day on 2 C batteries.

If you live in an area where you can lose power for almost a whole day (or occassionally several days in a bad storm), this is a flashlight that you can actually use. Leave it on in the middle of the room until the power comes back so you don't trip on anything. They also make a model that uses C-cells, has 10 LEDs instead of 7, and lasts twice as long.

5-0 out of 5 stars intensely modern and efficient
This slick, multi-LED-bulbed beauty is well worth the premium price (compared to other, more mundane flashlights.) It is well-designed and uses but a fraction of the battery power of its traditional Ray-oVac, etc rivals. It is a broad flood-light pattern, so hold on to your Mag-lites for the smaller, more focused jobs.

2-0 out of 5 stars Streamlight ignors defect, no way to treat customers.
I like this light, it does what I expected except one of the seven LED is out.
I made contact with Streamlight the day my light arrived yet have had NO response,
its been 7 weeks. Is it too much to ask for a product to preform as designed? I paid for a 7 LED light not a 6. All I need is a replacement bulb head.
StreamLight, I hope you see this and change your ways, with good products good service must follow. I would have ordered more but if this is an "AS-IS" product at premium prices I'll look long and hard before spending my money on any streemlight products. I tell it the way I know best and regret negitive info, I hope its just an oversight but have seen others telling the same here at Amazon.

3-0 out of 5 stars LED Failure!
Based on other reviewers' comments, I must have the only faulty example of this flashlight Streamlight has produced. The 4AA performs well indoors, but lacks the light output to be considered adequate for all-around use. Light output diminishes rapidly after only a few hours, and the manufacturer's claims of hundreds of hours of light output are exaggerated. In addition, the LED's in my light began to fail after only about five house of use. First, one LED began blinking and then went out altogether. Finally only three of the seven LED's were burning. I have returned the light to Streamlight with the hopes they would replace this faulty product.

5-0 out of 5 stars The only Flashlight youll ever need
Unless you need a beam that will light up and object 30+ feet away you will consider the battery life and effectivness of this flashlight as worth 3 times its cost. I like this one better than my maglite 4 D battery light. But the mag light is better when you need to see far ahead. Still I would highly recomment this one if you need a general duty flashlight and worry about bulb and battery repacement every 25 hours or so.
Best emergency flashlight imaginable. ... Read more

A cold room warms up quickly with this triple-element ceramic heater.Vents project heat in three directions, with air intake in the back. The niftything about this heater is its wireless remote control/thermostat, whichBionaire calls the Galileo Climate Center. By keeping the thermostat near a deskor reading chair, the heater maintains room temperature closest to where it'sneeded most. Using radio frequency technology, the Galileo remote doesn't needto be pointed at the heater to work. A digital display on the remote shows bothroom and desired temperature, controls low or high output, and can be used as atimer to preheat a room in the morning or evening. The lightweight heatermeasures 9-1/2 by 8-1/2 by 7-1/2 inches, can sit on the floor or a table, and isbacked by a two-year warranty. 5-0 out of 5 stars It is -56 tonight and this little heater is keeping me warm
The wind chill hit -56 this morning (only -28 otherwise) and fighting the cold trying to come through the brick wall that makes up the back wall of my ground floor basement office is the Bionaire Galileo Digital Triple Ceramic Heater. Not only that, this little heater is winning the war. By that I set the temperature that I want and this little unit hits the mark. Granted, it is rather strange to have a remote for your heater, but the controls are fairly simple. You push "mode" until it unlocks and then you have five choices: high, low, high automatic, low automatic, and off. For the most part automatic is how you want to go and low works fine unless you are trying to play catch up. The three directional heaters are nice because it works perfectly in a corner, in my case underneath the table.

Yes, a timer that would go off every morning to start heating up your designated area before you were up and about would be nice, but it is not that much of a problem to reset it each night and in the morning. It takes less than 10 seconds to do this. This unit will warm things up pretty quick once it gets going, so this is a minor inconvenience at best (especially in terms of what is on the other side of that brick wall down here tonight). The Bionaire Galileo Digital Triple Ceramic Heater is one of those items that once you discover it you wonder why you waited so long to get one. This is the first winter in the Zenith City where I have not been wearing my turtlenecks and sweaters all the time because of what this little unit can do.

3-0 out of 5 stars no good no bad
I guess is ok for small rooms, in the amazon review says that is ok for any size of room but if you wanted for a well size room wont heat it up as good as the review said. I'd try to place couple of fans close to it, so the heat can spread out, otherwise will be useless

5-0 out of 5 stars Great little heater
I've had this heater a few weeks now, and I'm very pleased. I wanted to be able to heat up the bathroom without getting out of bed, so I needed either a timer or a remote. This one has both.

All the features are very cool, and work mostly as described. I'd like to share what I learned after I got it.

I haven't had any problems syncing the remote like the other reviewer. I plugged in the heater and put the batteries in the remote, and followed the instructions to press one button, and off it went.

It heats well, bringing up the temperature of my bathroom very quickly.

I set the remote on top of my home thermostat for a day to test the thermometer, and it was off by one degree. Perfectly acceptable for me. The remote shows the room temperature at all times, even when the heater is off. It has a backlight, which turns on for about ten seconds whenever a key is pressed. After a minute of inactivity, the remote locks itself, to prevent accidental keypresses. To unlock it you hold the mode button for two seconds.

Something not mentioned in the description is the heat settings: Low is 1200W and High is 1500W.

Note that you can turn the heater on without the remote, but only to constant Low or High, not to an Auto (thermostat) setting.

A minor disappointment was the timer function. From the description I was hoping to set a timer so that the heater would turn on every morning at a certain time. Instead, you can only program it to turn on in a certain number of hours, one time. So, if I know the next morning will be cold, I set it the night before, but I have to do it each night. This is probably fine for most people. BTW, when it turns itself on in timer mode, it runs for two hours on High, with a setting of 72F. Apparently you can't change this. It also has a timer to turn itself off after a number of hours, like the Sleep Timer setting on a clock radio.

One really minor surprise was the depth of the unit -- it's not as flat as it looks. From the pictures, you can't tell that the fan intake sticks out a few inches on the back. This was not at all a problem for me, just a surprise. The whole unit is still very compact, maybe the size of a soccer ball. It's also very lightweight; the outer body is all plastic. Mine's gray instead of the white in the picture. The weird orange thing in the middle vent in the picture must be some sort of sensor; mine has it too.

A pleasant surprise is the cool-down feature in Auto (thermostat) mode. When the room temperature has reached your setting, the heater of course turns off. But it seems to shut off the heating elements and just run the fan for maybe a minute, to flush out any residual heat. When I had more primitive heaters I'd do this manually, to cool down the heater and to get all the heat I'd paid for. This one does it automatically.

The only problem I've had is that sometimes on High it shuts itself down. I believe this is because I have it in a confined space and close to two walls, and it thinks it's overheating. I have not had this problem on Low, and I'm sure I wouldn't have it at all if I moved it into a more open space.

In case you're worried about wireless problems, I have 900MHz and 2.4GHz cordless phones, an X10 video sender, an 802.11g wireless network, RF ceiling fan remotes, an RF Dish remote, and other RF products, and I haven't had any issues with the heater and remote.

Oh yeah, and it's really quiet, probably because the fan isn't very powerful. If it's around a corner or there's something else going on, I don't notice that it's running. Since the fan is weak, it doesn't blow heat at you very far, but it still moves air and heat fine. It probably projects heat a foot or two straight out.

4-0 out of 5 stars Pretty Good
I would have given this 5 stars but it took awhile to get the remote control in sync with the unit. I found that if you took the batteries out the remote and put them back in again, the unit will work. It gives off decent heat and heats up a room in no time at all. I have a sun porch that is all windows and has no radiators and it's perfect for that room. Do not let young children near this even when it's not plugged in. My son shoved pennies in it and broke it. It will probably cost more to fix then I paid for it so I might buy another one. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars really captures mosquitos
This is an excellent machine and very simple to put together.I have over an acre of property and haven't had one mosquito bite all summer. This machine really works and the Pro model, though pricey, is truly worth it.No electricity to use, just propane. The machine notifies you that need to change the propane tank by "beeping" in just about 21 days.A wonderful invention!

3-0 out of 5 stars Great At Catching Bugs - Reliability An Issue
We purchased the freedom model (now discontinued) which was the 2nd from the best. It worked GREAT the first year, virtually eliminating all mosquitos and no-see-ums from our yard. But 4 months later the unit was dead, it simply would not ignite. I called support (we got them right away) and they decided to send a new head unit. It arrived in 10 days and we just put the old one in the box, stuck the supplied label on the side and called UPS to pick up the return - very easy. The unit worked great until the end of the season (3 months after the replacement).

Next season the unit worked for 3 weeks then died. We could not get it to ignite no matter what we tried. We brought the unit into our garage to let it "dry out" according to tech support. No luck. But now the unit was no longer in warranty, 13 months after our original purchase. Our only option was to upgrade to the Pro model (the new units were not out yet) for $400!! Ouch!

We did upgrade and I must say that the Pro model is much better construction with a heavy-duty catalyst (power pack) system. It also has the quick-clear system for the propane lines, which seems to work. No problems so far this year & the unit starts every time. We are now halfway through the second season with the Pro model & are happy so far.

Note that this is the PREVIOUS version of the Pro model with the stainless steel power pack on the side. It seems to be a more heavy-duty construction than the new unit, but supposedly the new units have improved power packs & appear to be contained in the main housing to cut down on contimination from weather (rain, leaves, etc.).

I would recommend this unit, and hopefully the new generation (2004 models) have remedied some of the reliability issues of the past versions. BTW, the other reviews here also seem to be of older models.

1-0 out of 5 stars A defective product
Yes, this product is GREAT when it works. We used it successfully for two years, here in mosquito-plagued Vermont. But like some of the other reviewers, our fan did not work this year, and we have received no help from American Biophysics, except that we could spend $600 for a newer version of this product ...!

With many competitive products out there, at less than half that price, there is no way we will buy from American Biophysics again.(Any we also have tried to be in touch with the people who run this company, through personal contacts.Well, they didn't even acknowledge our emails and letters)

5-0 out of 5 stars ELIMINATES mosquitos when it actually works
5 stars - it really does catch 'em
1 star - didn't last more than one summer...read on...

This is a review of the older version PRO model (1 acre coverage) which I purchased back in '02 while living in MA.I give it 5 stars b/c back then during the summer when west nile was rampant, it really did catch every single mosquito in the neighborhood!

My friends like to take my wife and myself along on camping trips b/c we are their mosquito repellent - bugs just love us for some reason.I've been on week long fly fishing trips where I've sustained 100's (YES, I've counted) of bites on my arms and neck and my buddies had NONE!Even walking the dogs in the evenings, out in the yard would leave me ridden with bites.

After purchasing (reluctantly, given the (...)) the unit, life changed that summer as we didn't get one single bite.Life was good and our neighbors even thanked us b/c they too noticed a difference.

BUT, since that summer, the unit has had difficulty starting and for the past year and a half, has been inoperable here in VT.Visiting the American Biophysics website tech support area for information and examining their new models which incorporate a quick-clear cleanout feature has made me realize that these 'orifice obstructions' were so prevalent, a design change was warranted.Unfortunately, my 'older' model did not have this feature and since it was not under warranty, I would have to pay about $400 to get a refurbished unit!

Now, after having paid $1200 for a bug catcher, this infuriated me.To make matters worse, my wife has just received her first set of bites and has threatened to dismember my extremities if our newborn baby gets bit!

So, while I await a response from the president of the company, I decided to take matters into my own hands.I just spent 5 hours taking the 'power pack' apart, cleaning every orifice and conduit and after much swearing and bruised knuckles, managed to get the darn unit operating again!I just spend 10 minutes outside (got about 15 more bites) to make sure the 'suction' was working.I will know tomorrow if it actually was fixed.

So, my summary:

The science behind the product is sound - it really does catch every biting pest out there.I've saved the season's catch in a large glass jar and just about disgusted every person I showed it to.

Given the tiny orifice (I mean smaller than a needle point) used in the combustion chamber and the 'dirty' nature of propane fuel, there is a tendency to have claudications that may compromise function.

Out of warranty repairs are costly - the options given by customer service appear to favor upgrading to a new machine - makes you feel terrible that all your hard earned money has gone to waste.

Taking the power pack apart is quite difficult (I do not recommend this unless you are adept and comfortable with tools) especially when the fasteners are of odd sizes, likely to thwart tampering by persons like me.

The newer models that incorporate the quick-clear feature may perform better but uncertain of product support if a failure was to occur. Most of the newer models also incorporate a better ignition system - the older one required holding down a button for about 5 minutes before the machine was operational - any accidental release (say, if your thumb went numb) would usually require starting the procedure over again.

Despite the limitations, I hope to purchase another unit - just too many mosquitos in VT!

Cheers!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great gift
This cart is perfect. i got one as a gift from my kids last christmas, and i can't imagine doing yardwork without it now.

Obviuosly much easier than lugging potting soil around by hand.. which was gettting harder and harder to do with my bad back!...

The drink holder comes in quite handy too.. no more turned over soda cans in the grass. A small feature on this produc. but handy.

I didnt' think i needed a wheelbarow with a motor.. but this is really a great help for me. I'd recommend it to anyone who likes to garden but hates the hard work associated with it. i love mine..

5-0 out of 5 stars LUV is a luv
I just got this a week ago...assembled in about an hour, goes together well.

I have been using it in the garden, and it lets me do things that exhausted me previously...I am somewhat weakened because of surgery last year, and a regular wheelbarrow is really hard to handle.

the LUV makes all things possible - planted two big plants today, and used the LUV to haul the un-needed dirt from the hole to the dirt pile.

also, carry all my tools to the site in the LUV so that I don't have to go back to get anything.

LUV the LUV. don't know what I would do without it! just checked to make sure that it seems popular, because if there is any chance the maker would go under, I would buy a backup LUV (ie, an extra).

however, looks like it is being sold in more and more places, and I cannot imagine any senior citizen (like me) going without it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Yardmans helper
I just got this cart and I think it is already worth the money. I had a truck load of mulch and hills to go up with it. The cart went up hill with no problem. Dug up huge clump of zebra grass so heavy I couldn't lift it. But just rolled it into the cart pushed the control and away we went up hill to woods, dumped not a problem. I think this thing is great for an older person like me when you can no longer do the heavy stuff. I LUV it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Gardening Pleasure Returns
I highly recommend this product to anyone doing gardening or yardwork. It was so wonderful to have some help spreading 20 yards of mulch, it was actually a pleasure. Instead of some dreaded yard work, I now look forward to other garden chores with excitement. I don't know what I would do without my LUVcart.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not Worth It
Two parts required to assemble it were defective and I had to make my own. The instruction manual says no steep hills, but the web site said nothing of this limitation. (I bought it because my yard is very hilly.) The instruction manual says not to store it in temperatures over 75 degrees F. This apparently eliminates outside use and storage in the summer. The instruction manual said not to discharge the battery all the way, or it would be damaged. (How does one know when to stop and charge the battery unles it stops propelling the cart, and is thus completely discharged?) The instruction manual says to charge the battery every month even if it has not been used. Winter storage thus becomes inconvenient. (Whoever heard of maintaining your wheelbarrow in the winter?) ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars DOA
I received this generator from Amazon, prepared it per the included instructions, cranked it up, and immediately realized that it has two big problems: Voltage is only 107V, and it started making a gawdaful screeching sound after running for about 60 seconds. Screeching seems to be coming from the genset itself (not the engine), possibly indicating a bad bearing in the generator. Not good!

The fact that it made it out of the factory in this condition tells me that Porter Cable is doing a poor job of Quality Assurance. Also since I bought it from Amazon rather than a local retailer, I obviously can't take it back to the store for an exchange...I am forced to lug this heavy thing to the nearest factory service center. In retrospect, I might have been better off buying it locally.

5-0 out of 5 stars Watch Porter Cables product descriptions for Generators
Even though it doesn't have all the features that they advertise, it is a good generator. They advertised it as having an hour meter and full power switch. It has neither. I did a lot of research, (weeks) on different generator features before purchasing this one. So when I did get it and it didn't have all the features that it was supposed to, I was disappointed.
But, If you're looking for using primarily 120 volts, this is the one for you. It has (2) 20 amp GFCI duplexes- (four grounded plug-ins) Plus it has a Nema L5-30 amp 120 volt plug-in. I purchased a 10 gauge extension cord that plugs in to the L5-30 Nema and on the other end it has 2 duplexes. This gives me 8 grounded plug-ins. total. Of course you still can't go over the 62.5 maximum constant rated amps while doing so. It does have a large surge rating of 10,750 watts, 89 amps for motor starting power
The engine started on the first pull as it should, and ran great. The Vanguard engine is supposed to be Briggs & Stratton's best engine. The Idle control works great too.
I would recommend downloading the PDF manual on any generator before purchasing. And then carefully compare all the features to their advertisement. I noticed many advertising mistakes on a lot of different generators out there.
Comparing power to price, this generator is hard to beat!

5-0 out of 5 stars If you are looking for value...
This is your generator. Noise signature is more than tolerable although I agree with the previous poster - I wouldn't want any of these things outside my bedroom window. The compression release makes for a very easy pull if you don't have electric starter connected.

5-0 out of 5 stars A "REAL" generator
There are lots of generators out there, and deciding on which to purchase can be complicated. I based my decision on getting one larger than I thought I would need so that it would not spend its life stressed to its limit. Although I had to purchase this generator elsewhere (...) and I ended up paying more for it, I am glad I did finally get it.

I suggest that you have some assistance on hand to get the VERY heavy box into your garage to set it up. Assembly took me about an hour or so, so you should be up and running in a short time. The only problem I had were the holes in the frame for mounting the rear legs were not tapped and the supplied bolts were not self-tapping (or at least to say that they were not very good at it- ther tips being quite large with no relief slot in them to cut the metal), so I had to use a 1/4 x 20 tap to create the threads before inserting the bolts. If you don't have a tap you could easily replace the bolts with some better self-tapping bolts- they are 1/4 x 20 x 1" I think.

The Vanguard motor is made in Japan and seems to be a very high quality item. Once filled with oil and fueled up it started the first time on the second or third pull adnran smoothly after about a five minute warm up in cold weather (mid- 40's F.). Pulling on the starter rope seemed quite easy and I suspect that this motor has some sort of compression relief. For anyone of average strength, I think that the starting battery would only be needed in very cold weather.

Although I would not want it running next to my bedroom all night, it does run quite a bit quieter than a lot of other generators I have heard.

Be aware that most localities require a special set up if you want to power an entire home with a generator. This special switch box is not included and it needs to be wired by a qualified electrician. If you just run some heavy extension cords to the generator, then this is not necessary. This means that to power a water well or other 220 equipment like central air conditioners the box will be necessary.

To test it, once it had warmed up, I had the idle control on (low idle speed engaged) and plugged in my portable circular saw. I hit the trigger on the saw and the generator immediately came up in RPM and the saw went to full power as if it were plugged into the wall.

Be aware that when using voltage sensitive devices and light loads like an incandescent light or two, the idle control has to be off as the generator cannot sense these small loads and will not come up to a power-prodicing RPM. My trouble light would not do anything but glow dimly at the low idle speed.

This thing is large and has a huge alternator in it. With a 10,500 watt surge rating it should handle most all your needs- maybe not all at once, but for most households this is going to be a real handy tool to have around when the lights go out.

BTW- The motor and the alternator section each have a 2 year warranty! At this price I found nothing to compare to the BS750. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

Tool nirvana--an entire workshop in a box! There's no craftsman on the planet who doesn't want this quad pack. What's not to love? A full 19.2 volts of power will do away with fasteners as if you had a jackhammer in your hand, and 470 inch-pounds of torque provides all the drive power you'll need. Because of the two-speed gearbox, you've got drill speed ranges of 0 to 500 rpm and 0 to 1,500 rpm. Its 1/2-inch chuck is keyless, and the 20-position clutch takes care of drilling into all kinds of material. The Saw Boss 6-inch circular saw is powered by the same workhorse 19.2-volt battery--you'll need a break long before your battery will. And at 2,600 rpm, the premium 6-inch thin-kerf, carbide-tipped blade will have you making 100 crosscuts on two-by-fours on a single charge, so you may even be done before you need that break. The new cordless Tiger Saw has an ingenious, tight design that's perfect for cutting into drywall between studs. And blade changes are quick and easy because of the keyless blade clamp. The cherry on top is the powerful flashlight that sits on a stable base, allowing the pivoting head to light up your workpiece. All four tools are run by the interchangeable 19.2-volt batteries. The package includes two batteries, an interchangeable handle grip for all hand sizes, an advanced diagnostic charger, and a carrying case. --Kris Jensen-Van Heste ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The Ultimate Test
I bought both the Dewalt 18 volt combo pack and the Porter-Cable 19.2 volt combo pack. I also purchased 4 2X6 to test the two combo kits on. I used a 1 inch drill bit for both.
The Dewalt made 39 holes. While my Porter-Cable combo pack was coming in, I decided to test my 2-year-old Porter-Cable 14 volt hammer drill. It made an astounding 28 holes. I immediatly returned the Dewalt to the store because the Porter-Cable only made 11 holes less. The new, 19.2 Porter-Cable Drill made a whopping 60 holes, 21 more then the new Dewalt drill.

4-0 out of 5 stars Another winner from PC
Porter Cable produces very high quality wood working tools and keeps me coming back for more. However, I was dissapointed to end up with a combo-pack with missing parts. The base insert and mounting knob for the circular saw were missing. PC customer service is difficult to reach for most people that work during the day. I've also noticed that even the most essential items that should be included with their tools are always accesories and must be purchased seperately. Case in point is the rip fence for their circular saws. A rip fence is an item that is standard equipment with most other saws. I buy PC because of the high quality, but I think the price warrants PC including basic equipment in their kits. And there should be something simpler in the line of customer service. Porter Cable products are going to be used primarily by profesionals, and I can't imagine these people having to take time out of their productive day to sit on hold for customer service. That's the extent of my critique.
All in all, Porter Cable makes truly GREAT tools and I highly recommend them.

5-0 out of 5 stars THE BEST TOOLS I HAVE EVER USED
UNLIKE DEWALT THE TOOLS ARE THE MOST POWERFUL ON THE MARKET AND MAYBE THE BATTERY DOESN'T LAST BUT AT LEAST IS CUTS THROUGH ANYTHING THE TIGER SAW IS THE FASTEST RECIPRICATING SAW IN THE WORLD INCLUDING THE CORDED ONES. THE DRILL WITH ITS HAMMER CRUSHES AND DRILLS WITH EASE. ONE POINT I WOULD LIKE TO MAKE DEWALT DOES MAKE BETTER RECIPICATING BLADES THAN PORTER AND FOR THE CIRCULAR SAW USE ONLY THE BEST DEABLO BLADES FROM ANY HOME INPROVEMENT STORE.THE BATTERY BUTTONS DONT GET STUCK OR BROKENT LIKE DEWALTS BUT DO TAKE A SHORT WHILE TO GET USED TO. IT IS AND AWSOME TOOL THAT IS WHY IT IS USED IN THE NEW YANKEE WORKSHOP AND MY CABNINTRY AND FURNITURE MAKING.

3-0 out of 5 stars runs out of gas
i truly enjoy these tools yet i am surprised by how fast the batteries quit.I also have an 18v DeWalt kit that lasts much longer and is 3 yrs. older. the Dewalt batteries also charge faster. also, i cannot find a simple replacement bulb for the porter cable flashlight for over a year now, rendering it useless. if you buy this tool, buy extra batteries and bulbs, otherwise, all is well ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Poor performer underwater/ NOT shock resistant
I bought one of these lights to work underwater and the seals failed filling the battery compartment with water. Streamlight replaced it, but when dropped from 4 feet to a carpeted floor it failed..replacement LED is 37.95 with shipping and replacement Streamlight 3C LED can be had for $39.00 so...I am tossing the Streamlight 3C LED in trash can and taking the loss...Sorry, but this item is not reliable, durable, or dependable..such a surprise for a company with such a good rep

5-0 out of 5 stars Once you've had LED you'll never go back.
This thing puts out an amazing amount of light and the batteries last forever. I keep one in the trunk of every car I own (3).

3-0 out of 5 stars Streamlight 33202 LED 3C NOT Waterproof
Everything said about this flashlight is spot on except for the fact that after using underwater in less than 10 feet, the battery compartment leaked and the batteries turned to rusted mush. So much for the claims of being waterproof!!! Otherwise a really nice flashlight but not the rugged competitor it claims to be...
So far have not heard from the manufacturer about servicing the warranty...will let you know

3-0 out of 5 stars It grows on you
Very nice product for what it does, but it takes some getting used to. First the good. Appears very durable and has a nice feel to it when carrying. Excellent for inside a house, such as during a power outage. The white light is very diffuse and wide angle illuminating a large area or an entire room.

Now for the not-so-good. The on switch in at the end of unit - inconvenient. The LED light is very different from the traditional flashlights and may not be what you expect. The light is not focused. Used outdoors, the diffuse light will illuminate I found relatively good up to only about 30 feet. The beam cannot be focused from a diffuse pattern to a sharp compact beam. My mag light is definitely better for outdoors.

Overall, nice product but it serves a niche. Definitely not the only flashlight I would want - or need - to own.

2-0 out of 5 stars Don't Drop This Flashlight
Contrary to what a previous reviewer said about being able to throw it against a wall without breaking it, this flashlight did not survive a 2 foot fall from my young childs hand onto the street this Halloween evening.

It is broken and no longer working. I had it a week. Update 11/14/03-after several emails back and forth, the company did send a free replacement LED bulb unit. The flashlight works again. Only thing now is that they sent blue LED lights instead of the white ones I had originall purchased. I've raised the ranking one more star for their response, albeit flawed.

Be careful it is fragile despite it's looks. Don't be fooled by claims by other reviewers who have not put it through a simple test by a child dropping it. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Value : Does what it's designed to 100%
I pointed out a few things that were not right with and could be improved upon when I reviewed the Black&Decker BDL110S BullsEye Laser level Stud Sensor and it was refresing to find this little wonder that seems to have gotten everything right compared to the overpriced Black&Decker tool.

For starters, it's not a combo, there is no stud finder in it, so it's not bulky and it can fire the laser at any angle that you choose in addition to the obvious horizontal and vertical angles. It has bubble vials for both level & plumb. The laser can be adjusted for distance either short and bright or long with a slight loss in brightness, if you are close to the corner, it will even get the laser straight line onto the adjacent wall.

    This little gadget rocks.
