Received a defective battery and charger
Battery dead and charger does not work at all.Still trying to figure out how to return the darn thing or get a new charger shipped to me without wasting more expense.

Great tool
The Motowasher really works great for washing my motor home and siding on my house. The battery always seems to out last me and charges fast so it is ready by the time I have rested. Nice try but.......
As an electrician in a hospital I work in areas where a flashlight is a must. A headlamp is the obvious answer. The Trident ( and I also just purchased the Streamlight Argo) produce good light but battery life on both is miserable. The Argo is one large LED so their is no excuse for short battery life. The Trident has LED and incandescent with the incandescent obviously a bigger drain on the batteries. Three AAA batteries just aren't enough power! ... Read more

Great product for an all around tool...
I have another leatherman and I take it with me everywhere in my truck. It has saved me many times before and I know it will continue to save me in the future. I just bought 5 of these since I am getting married in October for my groomsman. I know they will love it because it will be a good tool for them in the years to come and they will always think of the wedding when they need to use it.

The tools are well set, and the feel is very sturdy. This thing has enough tools to do some quick fixes if something breaks on your car, house or just about anywhere because you have the basic tools to make the repair.

Premium Quality
I own/collect several multitool brands (Gerber,Leatherman,SOG,Schrade) and by far I am happiest with SOG multitools.The Gerber tool's finish is showing some corrosion and the small flathead screwdriver's tip broke. The Leatherman tools are good (Juice S2 and Kick), but are overpriced (Juice S2).Leatherman is the granddad of multitools and likely offers the widest variety of multitools, but comparative shopping is a must.The Schrade tool is awkward in that some of the tools lockout and some don't lock at all.I am sure it is because some don't require lockout to work, but my opinion is that they should all lockout. I have two SOG multitools (Power Plier and a smaller version)and am very impressed with the heavy duty, anti-corrosive finish, precision, and function of all the instruments.The smaller version has some instruments (phillips screwdriver and a file) that don't have the shiny,chrome-like finish, but still perform well and show no sign of corrosion. All the instruments lockout and work as expected. I've noticed that once any multitool is used for a repair it is not long after that one gets to see how the metal finish endured the stress of the work.I consider this one of the litmus tests of all multitools. Like I previously mentioned in the section about the Gerber tool, some brands just don't stand up well to duress and one will find that the manufacturer actually has a disclaimer that warns against using the tool for what I consider it's intended purpose:on-the-spot, contingency repair.I highly recommend the SOG multitools for that type of use.

Not only inferior, but hazardous as well.
I have owned and used the SOG Paratool for a little over ten years.It has a good assortment of tools and it has proven handy on a number of occasions, but it has no significant advantages over the Leatherman, and significant disadvantages.

They claim that the way that the pliers pivot out from one side of the handles is advantageous for leverage, but I've never been able to figure out just how that is supposed to happen.Rather, the arrangment makes it very awkward to access the other tools.You have to grasp the jaws of the pliers in order to fully unfold the handles, then fold one handle back over the plier, but the plier action isn't spring operated and the locking action is barely perceptible, so as you open it and then fold one handle closed, the plier jaws have a tendency to open and close, pinching your skin.When trying to use the pliers, because the locking action is so weak, the slightest twisting motion will cause one or both of the two handles to fold over on you, which can cause the jaws to slip and again lead to a very bad pinch on your hand, bad enough to break the skin.Simply put, this design is hazardous.

When I bought it, the thing that attracted me is the smooth outer surface of the plier handles.That is its single advantage over the Leatherman, but when I weigh that against its considerable disadvantages, I have to conclude that it is a decidedly inferior tool.Each time that I used it, my resolve to replace it increased, and I recently replaced it with a Leatherman Juice.

Durable, very useful...and yes, it does open with one hand.
I just bought my second Paratool to replace one I left overseas with my father-in-law. I also have a SOG PowerLock. Both the Paratool and the PowerLock have been completely durable and reliable and perform like new. When I still had both, I always carried one with me - the larger, heavier PowerLock in the outdoors or while traveling, and the smaller, lighter Paratool on more "formal" occasions where slipping in into a pocket or less bulk on the belt was called for. My wife still calls me "SOG-Man" now and then (the mythic superhero with the power to repair). Now that I only have the one, I find I miss having the Paratool.
To open the Paratool one-handed, simply press on the lanyard ring/tab with your thumb and the pliers head pivots up and out to where your thumb can press it down into position. As far as the pliers head not locking - that's an asset not a liability. I've fished out many a small part from tight places where the head's ability to pivot was "mission critical".
I carry a SOG with me for those times when I'm not near a tool box or when something just pops up that needs doing/fixing. If I'm planning to do a specific job - say remodel the kitchen, drop the transmission out of the car or wire a network with CAT-5 cable, I assemble a proper tool kit for the job.
I highly recommend the Paratool or the PowerLock.

Next to my car keys, it's the best thing in my pocket
I carried a Leatherman for years and liked it. I got the SOG for Christmas about 6 years ago and love it even more.

1.-The handle design puts the smooth part on your palm when using pliers. Very nice.

2.-You can take the whole thing apart to change tools and clean it. Very nice touch, especially after you spill anything sticky all over it.

3.-Good customer service. I managed to snap the plier head on mine. (Was not easy to do, mind you.) Sent it in to SOG. They sent it back cleaned, sharpened and with a new head.

4.-USEFUL. My kids and friends know I carry it and treat it as an extension of me. I smirk when my wife asks me if I have my paratool. I ALWAYS have it on me unless I'm asleep. I use it daily. Cut, screw, crimp, bend, twist, open, tighten. It's great. I've fixed everything from my car to my computer with it at some point.

Top notch tool
I have carried my Paratool for seven years now.At one point I needed to replace the opening lever on the pliers.I sent the unit in to SOG, fully expecting to be billed for their services.They returned the tool with a new pliers, and they replaced the knife blade that had a slightly bent tip - all free of charge.The design feature that I like the most is that the "screws" that hold the unit together are actually nuts.The distinction sounds trivial, but they are slightly softer than the tool itself.If the jaws become "loose", replace the nuts and the unit is good as new.Great product - great company. ... Best Rechargable Home Flashlight
I have had one of these for several years and it is my light of choice for all home uses. On top of that, its a power on safety light and it is rechargable. Never seems to have a recharging problem, comes on when needed, and provides very clear light.

Long term happy customer
We purchased this flashlight over 5 years ago and are amazed how happy we are with it. It has outlasted every other flashlight we have bought since and is very handy in emergencies. We have it in our kitchen and when the power goes out, it lights up our entire kitchen plus the family room and gives the children comfort when those inevitable Florida thunderstorms knock out the power. We could not find this model when we were last minute Christmas shopping this year and bought two others. They are vastly inferior, the biggest complaint is they do NOT turn on when the power goes out - they only leave on a very hard to see nightlight. I will now know better and buy my next one through Amazon and save the hassle. Keep with a proven product you are happy with! (Consumer class 101).

Didn't work when needed
This flashlight had been plugged in for three years, and didn't work last week in a power failure when we needed it. Candles did not fail, though. We stocked up on more flashlights for any other blackouts this winter.

Only one annoying thing
I purchased a red 6D model. It is an OK torch but, as with all Maglites, they have that annoying black spot in the middle of the beam in flood-light mode (caused by the reflection against the bulb) which I find personally annoying.

The 6D is a little difficult to grip so I got one of those rubber "Grip n Clip" slip on holders(made specifically for Maglite D-size torches) ...and it is now a pleasure to carry around.

The 6D is definitely not a "night sun" as one of the other reviewers on this page noted but it is bright enough for my purposes(mainly taking my dog for a walk at night).

All in all, I'm happy with it.

A simple and yet amazingly versitile and reliable knife!
The Tinker was the 1st Victorinox knife I got. I've had it for about 10 years now. It's got the scratches and wear marks that only a very used knife can have and yet functionally it is still in perfect shape. I've been able to keep the 2 blades razor sharp through the years with only occasional sharpening. The bottle opener and can opener double as tough flathead screwdrivers and the philips head screwdriver on the other side is solid as a rock. This knife has gotten me out of a jam many a time and is probably my most treasured item in my tool collection. A must have for the handy-man type!

So you want Phillips screwdriver AND scissors?
I saw quite a few reviews here from people who love this model but more or less miss having the scissors. You may want to know that Victorinox makes (at least) 4 slightly different Tinker models: "Small Tinker", "Tinker", "Super Tinker", and "Deluxe Tinker". If the measurement information given above (3 1/4") is correct, then the model sold here is actually the "Small Tinker". The other 3 are full-size models (just 1/4" longer). Trivia aside, what I want to bring to your attention is that the "Super Tinker" model has all the same tools as the "Tinker" plus one - the nifty little scissors! If you're looking for the ideal model that has BOTH the Phillips screwdriver AND the scissors, go with the "Super Tinker" instead.

A great all-around pocket knife
I have had three Tinkers over the years. The first one I liked best, as it was the smaller size and had a nice black handle. It is a great size to carry at all times, and forget about it until you need it. I did miss the scissors at first until I realized something. If you keep it sharp you don't really need scissors. you can use the large blade for everyday use, and just keep the small blade as a backup, always razor sharp. Another reviewer mentioned that you should remove the key ring. I agree wholeheartedly, and I went one step further. After you remove the key ring, grind down the nub that the key ring went through (with a bench grinder or Dremel grinding wheel) and it is so much smoother and fits in your pocket without poking your leg at all. The only disadvantage I can think of is that the plastic that the handles are made of are not as rugged as the rest of the knife. After carrying my first one for about 7 years and dropping it a few times, the handles loosened up and eventually fell off. Victorinox is making some newer models at a lower price point with red nylon handles. The handles are much more durable, but the Swiss cross is just painted on and looks very cheezy. My original, smaller Tinker had a philips screwdriver that was shaped to blend in to the rest of the shape. The newer ones are just round and not quite as nice. I might be ready for my fourth Tinker, hehehe. If they would just make one with the smaller body, with the rivted aluminum handles and managed to keep the toothpick and tweezers...

Great Knife
Yes, if you for some reason need the scissors, maybe not for you. But you can make paper cutouts with a blade, and anything else you can do with the scissors-except lose the stupid little spring (Wenger scissors are much, much nicer) This knife is compact, handy, and lightweight. It is a summary of all the swiss tools. It's a great companion and hasn't failed me. I have a red one, but I would have liked black. I love this knife.

a trusted partner
I carry two pocket knives with me at all times: A Benchmade tactical folder and this knife. I keep the Benchmade on me simply because it's easy to get out and use quickly while your other hand is busy holding whatever it is you're working on (plus the serrations come in handy with tougher material). The Swiss Tinker is a fabulous knife indeed. The phillips screwdriver is a unique departure from the corkscrew (which is also very handy), though it can be a bit akward to use at times. The slim lines and light weight of this knife makes it easy to carry in jeans and suit pants, without making too much of a bulge. Although the scissors in the Swiss knives are without serious competition anywhere in the market, I'm not missing them too much. This knife has been a trusted companion for many years.
One thing I have found about the Swiss knives, though: take off that stupid key ring. If you carry the Swiss in your pocket like I do, the ring will catch every string, wire, and cord in your pocket. ... Read more
