5-0 out of 5 stars gotta have it
I absolutely wouldn't be without this table. It in combination with the 2700 xl table takes an ordinary table saw and turns it into a high end cutting machine. It increases the capacity as well as the safety. You can do so much more with your saw when you know you have the extra support you need. I am so spoiled by this setup , that I can hardly stand to use other saws . Unless of course they have one of these attached . ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Power Power Power
I had several saws before , but this time I decided to spend the bucks and buy a good one that would be worth fixing if the bearing went out.
Well this is everything I thought it would be and more, The only draw back is that this baby has some weight to it, My wife helps out alot and she complained the firest time she picked it up so if your not a strong arm person , this is not the saw for you.
keep in mind the 8 1/4 blades are not cheap when they can be found , but you can use the 7 1/4 if the size is not in demand.

5-0 out of 5 stars DeWalt 8-1/4 Power Saw
Simply put, this saw has a lot of power and is great for framing and ripping 2x4's. I used this saw to rip 3x10's and it handled the job with ease. I would have to recommend this saw over the 7-1/4 types. If you only can afford one saw, this is the one to buy. 7-1/4 inch type saws are lighter and easier to handle all day long, but they won't cut like this one. I own both types of saws and I usually go for the 8-1/4. They really should make a case for this thing. Mine didn't come with a case. I have to pull the blade guard back in order to store it in the 7-1/4 saw case. The 7-1/4 saw now sleeps on the floor.

5-0 out of 5 stars exceeding my expectations
I am actively involved in timber framing for myself, and have been looking for the right mid-sized circular saw for a while. I came dangerously close to ordering the Milwaukee 10-1/4" until I read a very helpful review on this site about the paper thin foot that easily bent. I already own a 16-5/16" Makita, and it is a beast, with a maximum 6-1/2" depth of cut at 90 degrees. I needed a saw that could cut 3" deep---this saw is advertized at 2-15/16", and it does every drop of that! The foot is extruded aluminum, about 1/8" thick, very stout. This saw feels no different than a normal 7-1/4" to me. The depth adjustment knob is fantastic, and the angle adjustment is a breeze. Be sure and check it when you first get your saw though. Mine was off almost two degrees. This saw will rip 3" thick SYP with the blade that comes with the saw! It is as strong as you would ever need it to be!...

5-0 out of 5 stars Simple
The 384 is the exact replica of the old B&D/ sawcat, one of the best.I would like to se it offered w/carry case & rip-guide.An absolute must for the framer.

2-0 out of 5 stars DW384
I used this babe for over two years, and have been the best saw than I own. Very well build tool have also the safety feature of an electric brake than stop it in less than two seconds when you release the switch. Very easy to adjust the zero point (kerf indicator) and parallelism between the blade and the shoe. Surprising for me was the oustanding balance and plenty of power for the hardest of the tropical woods (Use carbide tiped blade...please) Also have a cord keeper for place the cable away in some chores. The only drawback than I see, is no metric conversion kits available for the people like me than not use inches! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Good and Simple!!!
If you're looking for a saw that will last a lifetime this is the one to get! Built to Milwaukee's tough "Heavy Duty" standards this saw has quality written all over it! It may lack the compound adjustments with all the bells and whistles and cost a bit more than a cheap Taiwan model, but outfit this saw with the proper blade or jig and it'll tackle anything from trim work to rough framing! Not to mention, with excellent power and precision. The fifteen amp motor is as powerful as it gets without tripping most circuit breakers. This rock solid machine is vibration free and most of the dust actually goes out the dust port! The high fence and clever wrench storage clip completes this simple design.

What I really like about this saw is the effective blade retraction system. The clear lower guard retracts into the upper blade guard assembly away from snagging your thumb or sleeves as the guard moves upwards. O.K., maybe it's just the way I'm holding the handle with my big hands but I have gotten the pointy joint on my thumb slammed on the retracting path of the DeWalt and Makita guards...Ouch!!! To me, there is insuffient space between the handle and retracting guard on those saws.

Along with the high sticker price, this saw should have came with a set of extentions with stopping block and hold down clamps. These accessories are quite pricey when purchased separately. I guess to enjoy fine dining you must order ala carte just as you would with this fine tuned machine!

5-0 out of 5 stars Very Precise mitre saw
I use it to cut aluminum extrusions, it feels solid and makes very accurate cuts. I used to have a lower price mitre saw and this one worth the extra bucks. I think this is the best mitre saw on its class the next step would be a commercial type saw (CTD, Pistorius...)

5-0 out of 5 stars The best
I work as a finish carpenter and this is the best miter box you can buy.I've done base, casing, and crown with this and I have no complaints.Unless it's getting limited use, don't buy a $179 miter box.Get this one.The gauge is accurate and the 60 degree cut has come in handy. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Finally got myself a good drill...
I've had a steady stream of low cost cordless drills over the last fifteen years and when the built-in battery in my most recent one finally died I decided it was time to spend a bit more and get a much better drill. After much looking around I settled on the Porter-Cable 9820 as it appeared to be a great combination of power, features, modest weight, price, and included accessories. I also wasn't interested in spending $50-100 to get something that was really only just a bit better than all the $35 ones I'd bought and discarded over the years.

I've had the Porter-Cable 9820 just about a month now and have used it for several jobs, ranging from numerous household projects to rebuilding a redwood fence crushed by a 25' limb in a recent storm. It has proven to be everything I was looking for. I am particularly pleased to have two interchangable batteries, a fast and hefty charger, two selectable drill speeds, broad range adjustable clutch, controls that are very conveniently placed, and what seems to me to be a perfect combination of high power and yet comfortably handleable weight. I'm no power tool expert, but it seems very well made -- everything about it has a good, solid feel. And all at what I consider a very reasonable price.

Highly recommended.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent So Far
I've only had this unit for a month so I will revise this review after some more time passes. However, I have used it for a fairly large project (built a large cedar wood shed) which required drilling a few hundred 3 inch screws. This drill is a good combination of size and power and unless you are a serious professional who needs all-day long-lasting industrial strength, this unit will do fine. You'll get a good long stretch out a single battery and by the time you could wear one out, the other one will have recharged. The two speed functionality is great (one for drilling, the other for bit driving) and I recommend it highly if you can spend the extra dollars for a drill that has it.

As far as construction and quality - you basically have two choices when it comes to cordless power tools. They're either made in Europe (Switzerland or Germany) or they're made in the far east (China, Taiwan). This is true regardless of the nationality of the name brand on the equipment. The stuff from Europe is of higher quality, but you'll pay for it. If you want to pay the price for a Bosch from Germany or a Milwaukee from Switzerland (I know it sounds funny that Milwaukees are not made in the USA, but that's the way it is) it may very well be worth it. If you're going the next price level down, you will have no choice but the far east. Porter-Cable (this unit is made in Taiwan) is a solid American company (division of Pentair, "PNR" on the NYSE) and their quality requirements should be much higher than lesser name brands that also build in the far east. As an aside, I don't know about you, but my 401k and my fellow American laborers have a lot riding on the success of American companies, so I prefer to buy from them instead of foreign competitors if the quality is just as good. Anyway, the construction of this unit seems very solid (I'll revisit that after some time passes) and the logistics of the layout are very good. The batteries pop in and out fairly easily and the recharger has a nice indicator to let you know the status of the battery (one thing about batteries - if they're fully charged, don't leave them in a running charger for days on end - take them out and recharge them when you need them). This unit is also a nice size and weight compared to the higher voltage units. You really ought to stongly consider just how much juice you need and not over-do the power. If you don't need the extra power don't get it because it'll cost you extra money and it'll cost you extra effort to use the larger unit. Overall - this is an excellent unit so far and I couldn't be happier with it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic drill... goes and goes...
Decided that a 9.6v was a good weight/power trade off. This baby has a ton of torque. I've built several large planter boxes, a shed, and a deck with it - I've driven hundreds and hundreds of decking screws into pressure treated lumber, most of them 1.5 inches, but often 2.125 or 3 inch screws. You get plenty of run time out of each battery. Just the charge from one battery is usually enough for a moderate project (like a planter box with 120 deck screws (I used a second drill to do the piloting of holes and the P-C to do the driving)). If you leave the other battery in the charger you'll always be good to go. I like this drill so much that I was considering buying a second one.

4-0 out of 5 stars Mighty-mite for around the house repairs and mods
I bought this little gem for attacking a few projects that I would have balked at with the corded B&D drill I have; like climbing on the roof to re-attach some trim that was pulled loose by the cable attachment. Putting down the subfloor for a small interior porch is a cinch also. Why 4 out of 5? Well, I used the little guy for putting 1" holes in hardwood in a standing cabinet my wife bought, and the 1st battery went dead just as I was getting through the 3/4" hardwood. Put the second fully charged battery on an just barely made it through the second shelf before that battery went dead. Had to finish the job with the trusty [$$]B&D. But overall, so far I really like the thing, though I wished there was a way to "test before I buy" I might have forked over the extra money for the 12v version.

5-0 out of 5 stars Porter Cable 9.6
I bought this as a second, small job, cordless drill. I was surprised by the power. The run-time isn't as long as a more powerful model, but that's expected. I have found myself using this powerful, lightweight drill on more demanding jobs than I thought I would use it for. This drill would be great for all "around the house" projects, and it carries the dependability and longevity of Porter Cable. I am not disappointed. ... Read more

We weren't expecting a lot of power when we picked up this drill for the first time: It's terrifically light and compact. Boy, were we wrong—-this drill's got all the power and torque of the heavyweights. With a speed range of 440 to 1,400 rpm and 17 clutch settings, it also delivers 400 inch/pounds of torque. It handles a hole saw and Forstners beautifully with power to spare, and the balance in hand is perfect. But what sets this drill apart is its size and weight and how that translates to easier work for you. We've used some big-boy drills and imagined what a carpenter would feel like after eight hours of hoisting them; we have to say that this drill is the one we'd want on the job, whether it's electrical work, cabinetry, heating and cooling or woodworking, slipping easily into the tightest workspaces and really cutting down on fatigue. Another dimension is how easily it handles for women with smaller hands, because in addition to its size and weight, the drill's rubber grip is compact and comfortable. Auto tune-ups should keep this machine working for you for a long, long time.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste ... Read more

Light, compact, comfortable, balanced. A true craftsmans tool.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great tool!
I recently purchased this hammer after swinging estwings for the pase 20 years.Recently diagnosed with tendonitus I was looking for a light, shock absorbing hammer to replace my old blue handled classic.I first tried the stiletto framing hammer but found it too bulky and long ,but this little trim model is just great. Over the last week we framed a large hip roof doing all the nailing by hand. While I admit that driving a 12d sinker requires an extra tap or two it is well worth the weight I no longer carry. These days I do most of my work with air tools but will always have a hammer by my side, and from now on this little stiletto wil be the one.

5-0 out of 5 stars What a difference
Ive only been using this hammer for about two weeks. I am a finish carpenter and was looking for something to help my tennis elbow. This hammer is amazing. Guys think it's funny until they try it. My elbow already feels better and the curved handle is great. The down side so far it that the face marks easily when you use a nailset. I plan to do some framing soon and I will probably get a Titanium framing hammer. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

DeWalt designed this replacement for their popular DW359 circular saw to be the lightest and most powerful saw available. The result is a professional-quality tool that weighs 9.8 pounds and uses a big 15 amp motor to deliver a maximum of 2,200 watts--just about 3 horsepower. That's a technical way of saying this saw can deliver the power necessary to take on the toughest work on any construction site. The saw's magnesium base plate and guard are part of the key to the low weight. It has a slimmed-down handle, which we found more comfortable than the one on the old model, and a slimmed-down body, which allows for better cut-line visibility. When redesigning the saw, DeWalt also swapped the previous model's 15 amp switch with a 22 amp switch to make burn out at start up less likely. We really like the big 56-degree maximum bevel capacity, and the bevel detents at 22-1/2 and 45 degrees. Both bevel and depth-of-cut adjustments are quick and easy tool-free operations. Designed with professionals' needs in mind this is a powerful full-featured saw that is likely to stand up to a long life of tough work. --Brian Trinen ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars unpleasant surprise
Do not buy this saw unless you have actually held one of them in your hands, and realize what you are buying!!! The Amazon website for the DeWalt DW369CSK is deceptive, although I am sure this was unintentional. None of the pictures show the rear left corner of the saw's composite baseplate. The rear left corner of the baseplate DOES NOT EXIST! The baseplate is not a rectangle, as one would expect. Rather it is a rectangle with a large part of one corner "missing". Because of this, the left side of the saw's baseplate is only 8 1/2 inches long. This, together with the placement of the main handle (grip) of the saw, make it more difficult to make a straight cut by running the saw's base along a fence. I called the DeWalt technical assistance hotline and asked why the base had been designed like that. The man was very nice, but he said that he didn't know, but it may have been to save weight. By the way, the DeWalt website has pictures of the saw, but none show it from an angle that lets you see the "missing" portion of the base.
If you do framing, this saw might be OK. However, if you use a circular saw to make furniture, and you use it to do precise cuts of large sheets of plywood by running the saw along a fence, then you want a saw with a base which is long, especially on the side which rides along the fence. I have since learned (by actually looking at the real saws, not pictures) that there are still plenty of these available. The DeWalt DW364 is one of them. It is an older style, which is a bit heavier than the newer 369CSK, and it does not have a detent at 45 degrees. But it is completely adjustable for squareness, and it has plenty of power, and it has a BIG FOOT. The Porter Cable saws have large rectangular bases. Some other saws have a small triangle missing from the left rear corner of the base, but no other saw that I have seen has nearly as big a cutout as the DW369CSK. The Milwaukee 2390-21 is one of them, but even with the cutout, the remaining straight portion is longer than the entire base of the of the DeWalt DW 369CSK, and you can easily keep it square as you move it along a fence. While all of the alternatives to the DW369CSK that I have listed are heavier than it is, they are easy to hold and are well balanced. I recommend that you choose one of them.
I had searched the web and read reviews of circular saws before buying (and later returning) the DeWalt 369CSK, and the reviews showed that it was light, had detents for two angles of cut, had a composite base, and cut at a good rate if given a good blade. No mention was made of the strange shape of its base.
While at Home Depot last night, I asked another shopper, who happened to be a professional carpenter about the DW369CSK. He said that he had bought one but he returned it as defective because the motor burned out quickly. He said that he got one of the Porter Cables and it works fine.
I recommend that Amazon add a picture of the DW369CSK which shows the base so a potential customer can make a more informed decision. I have made a number of purchases through Amazon and am very happy with them. This is the first item that I have returned.

I'm a NY framer who uses his saw literally 365 days a year. I had owned a Bosch 1758 prior to owning the DeWalt DW369CSK. After learning that Skil manufactures Boschs' circular saws I decided to put down the Bosch and go with the crewe favorite. I'm not a big fan of Skil..considering that their products are not made well at all and for a guy whos living is made based on functioning tools.....i scrapped the Bosch/Skil. Whether you're a home owner/do it yourselfer or a professional framer or contractor, the DeWalt satisfies and proves it's worth every day..every time. Anthony

5-0 out of 5 stars powerful, durable, and lightweight
This is the third circular saw I've owned and it is by far the best. My first saw (a Craftsman) gave me many years of light service until it died during a bathroom remodeling project. I killed the next one (12 amp Skil) scoring concrete with a diamond blade. The blade caused too much friction for the underbuilt Skil and literally sheared the blade bearing off. I finally broke down and bought a heavy duty saw and I wish I had done so to begin with. This saw has yet to bog down on me even though I am using my old blades. The saw cuts smoothly and effortlessly and is lighter than the Skil. The depth and miter adjustments also work much more easily than on my old saws. The electric brake is also a nice feature, but not crucial to me. All this for a reasonable price. My only gripe is that the forward handle is a bit too far away from the blade to comfortably hold onto while holding the blade guard lever for making plunge cuts. I highly recommend this saw or at the very least get any 15 amp saw for the power. Eventually you'll need it so don't waste your time or money on the less powerful saws.

3-0 out of 5 stars Good saw but beware
I went for many years doing my hobby projects with the DeWalt 18v cordless trim saw. When the projects started getting bigger and bigger and I needed a bigger, corded saw I went right to DeWalt's site to see what was available. Being right handed and having used a left bladed saw for so long it was tough to buy a right blade. I almost went with their hybrid wormdrive with the left blade but after playing with one at the store, I figured it was too heavy and too much saw for my needs. Thus the DW369CSK, great power, ease of use and excellent quality I've come to expect from my DeWalt tools. It even made the switch to a right blade easier due to the wide line-of-sight area. It's even fairly light for full power sidewinder.
I looked at Milwaukee's left blade circ and almost went that route. Honestly, it was brand loyalty that keep me with the yellow saw. I am not dissapointed in the least, though. I only wish that DeWalt would get on the ball like Milwaukee and Porter Cable and offer a left and right bladed versions.

UPDATE: I had to come back and edit this review after a decent amount of use. For the most part, everything is fine but I have determinded that I just can't get this saw to cut perfectly square. I've messed with all the adjustments and I can only get it to about 89 degrees but not to 90. Close, but not quite as they say. For my needs, this is actually fine as I don't do any precision cutting with it, but for those that do, make sure to check it with a square and ruler before using. I've lowered it from 5 stars down to 3 as this could be a big bummer for those needing a perfect cut.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great saw
My Milwakee that I had for about 8 years developed problems after cutting a particularly tough peice of pressure treated lumber. I needed a saw imediately to finish a deck I was working on. I could not find a saw that I felt comfortable with until I came across the DeWalt DW369CSK. It is light weight and is comfortable in my hand. The cutting guide takes a little getting used to, but other than that this saw has it all. There is enough power to easily handle the toughest job, and the construction of the saw is equally impressive. A saw is a very personal thing and the DeWalt is everything I could want in a circular saw. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Unit, This is the one to have
This Wagner MMC205 is the one to have. No hassle when you have to ask the seller if they mind having pin holes in their wood. (Taking measurements at the end of the wood helps to avoid that, but still a minor consideration) It actually measures moisture content 3/4" of an inch into the wood. So surface moisture, which can vary based on humidity in the air, or a recent rain, etc, does not become a factor. It does so without any tampering with the wood. (No holes) Pin models, only go so deep, unless you really gouge the wood.
Another consideration, is that the more expensive Wagner meter measures wood above 20% moisture content. Considering that usable wood starts at 12%, and if you want to make furniture you will need wood around 4 to 6%, the need to know measurements up to 35% is not all that neccessary.
Their isn't any calculations neccessary with this meter as well. They do give you a handly little booklet, with all of the wood types listed. That way you can set it for the specific wood type to get a very exacting measurement.
It comes in a handy carrying case. Large easy to read numbers. Takes a few uses to get the hang of it. Like holding the setting down, in order for it to go into the changing mode.
When buying wood, the amount of time is has aged-cured, or been properly kiln dried is of the essence. If you buy wood that has too much moisture content in it, you will be forced to either age it yourself, or suffer the movement as it cures over time.
It is interesting to actually take this meter into some of the larger retail Home stores and measure what appears to be kiln dried, planed wood. Sometimes those pallets are left out in the rain for awhile. Since they are strapped together, a good soaking has the oppotunity to go deep within the grain. The individual boards in that case are not exposed to the air again, until they are unwrapped.
In conclusion, moisture measurements are essential in woodworking. This unit is at a good price point, if you want to do the best job, without breaking the bank. If I had to do it all over again, I would still buy this one. Highly recommended.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome little piece
Compact, concise, accurate! Complements any wood shop, a must have for the serious professional. I've used this to check 2000 bd. ft. of hickory, 300 bd. ft.of cocobolo, 150 bd. ft. of black walnut for flooring, and I've used it for dozens of smaller lots of other hard and soft woods. Helps in dickering with price on supposedly kiln dried lumber. ... Read more

Use it and love it. Milwaukee's Magnum is magna-accurate, whether you're crosscutting, mitering, angling, or compound mitering. The miter table turns like a dream, thanks to ball-bearing construction. The sliding mechanism rides smooth as glass, too, on hardened steel tubes that let you extend for a full 12-inch crosscut. Of course, all the common angles are pre-set, but Milwaukee's unique override mechanism lets you fine-tune those presets for dead-on precision. But there are two things this saw has that we haven't seen elsewhere that makes it stand out. First, it has a cool transparent lower guard that retracts automatically, smoothly and quickly, out of your sight line when you're cutting. But our favorite feature is the extra-tall flip fence for fantastic support, whether you're cutting a plain miter or a compound. The patented fence can flip--without tools—for compounds or regular miters. It's a high-end saw that really, really lives up to its reputation and will please professionals and home hobbyists alike.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Made in U.S.A.?
After goung back and forth between the 10" Hitachi and the 10" Milwuakee,I bought the Milwuakee. It was a demo,(never cut anything, the blade was clean and the plastic blade guide was not cut through yet and still in the box) I did not use it yet and I am returning it for the Hitachi. beside the fact that it doesn't dual bevel, the blade guard isn't smooth retracting, and I assumed it was made in U.S.A, it's not!(name something that is!)It's made in Tiwian! At least the one I bought was. I have used the Hitachi before and liked it very much. So even though it's made in Japan, it dual bevels, has a much smoother blade guard, a laser, and a soft start moter, I am going with the Hitachi. I can't comment on the performance of the Milwaukee because I haven't used it. So if you are buying the milwaukee because you thought it was made in U.S.A., it's not.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Saw to Buy
I have owned my Milwaukee 6497-6 10" slide compound miter saw for 2 yrs. I purchased a house that is 80 yrs old and did a complete restoration. I read a remark from Glenn TX. I have been a Toolmaker for 23 yrs, I work in tolerances of +.0000 to -.0002! So I challenged your remark that the saw is not within max. material condition for lateral movement. I used a Starret dial indicator and the lateral movement on my saw is +/- .008 with mild pressure exerted. When heavy pressure was applied my saw gave me a T.I.R (total indicator reading) of .024 or .012 in either direction.. 1/64 of an inch equals .015625! You have probably not utilised the locking pin located in the back of the saw when transporting it, confused it for a piece of luggage. The binding knobs to lock the slide on the saw are made not to white knuckle but mearly a slight sinch. And you people that talk about Makita (house of the rising sun) They make a fair product, but good luck trying to hold a precise angle with their saw they have thrust bearing float. And for those of you that say the dust collection system don't work, that is why God invented Chain Saws, wet wood is not good to cut with one of these nor does it make a good building material!

4-0 out of 5 stars Good saw, but beware...
Top quality saw. The fence system is great. The motor is excelent. It comes with a first quality blade. I won't ooze over the good stuff; there is plenty of that... I will get to the only real issues I have with the saw. First, the dust collection doesn't! Don't even bother putting the bag on, nothing comes out of the port. I have not botherd to hook it to the dust collection system and try it with suction. Not a big deal. Second, the saw was not square from the factory so I tweeked it in per the instructions and now it is square. BUT, there is too much free play in the slide system and support arm. It is easy to move a cut out of square by even slight pressure an any lateral direction on the handle. Not a big deal on most trim jobs, but if you are doing cabinets and need real precise cuts beware.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great tool for the workshop.
I just wanted to say that the Milwaukee 10" sliding compound miter saw is a tremendously great tool for the money. To all that say their saw is out of square, just loosen the screws holding both of the fences and use a square to align them with the cut in the kerf plate. Tighten the screws and make sure both fences are straight to each other.
The motor sounds great, the saw blade that is included is a super high-quality blade that is extremely sharp. The cuts are clean and smooth.
A nice thing about the kerf plate is that it comes without the slot in it. You cut the slot yourself with the sawblade which prohibits splintering on the bottom and helps make a clean cut.
The flip fence is very cool. It is so quick to move out of the way to do a compound cut.
The only thing that needs to be seriously redone by Milwaukee is the Dust Collection system. If you need a saw that collects all of its dust, then get a different saw. I could care less, though. It is not that bad.
I 100% recommend this saw to anyone needing a sliding saw.

3-0 out of 5 stars It's good - but it ain't great.
I've had my Milwaukee SCMS for about five years now, and the best thing that I can say about it is that I didn't have to pay for it - it was a gift. Like the gentleman from Brooklyn I too have had a problem with my 90 degree cuts being out of square. Also, the thumbscrew that holds the saw in place on the rail stripped out after a couple of uses. I also wish the saw was of the dual-bevel variety, and I wish that it had the ability to make dado cuts like the Makita saws do. I guess when it comes down to it I'm suffering from a bad case of Makita envy, and the only cure is to go out and buy one. It's really too bad, because I have several Milwaukee hand tools and they're all top-notch. I think Milwaukee needs to go back to the drawing board and make a few improvements to what could be a decent saw. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Hitachi 10 inch fiber cement saw blade
This is a great tool for cutting cement siding. I use mine in my radial arm saw and get very smooth cuts. With the radial arm saw I can cut the widest planks. The dust is much less than cutting with a regular carbid blade. I also use the 7 1/2 inch blade in a circular saw for rip cuts. I am also using Malco Plank Gauges for holding the planks during installation and they are very helpful. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Buy one- it's a no-brainer
I recieved my Amazon Visa card last week and this was my first purchase. These are well made calipers. They come in a foam lined box that contains a spare battery in it's own little pocket. My calipers came equipped with an OFF/ON stitch. My first measurement was my feeler gages. They all checked out- or was it the calipers that checked out. Large display is very readable. One button toggle between inches and mm. I put this on my new Amazon card and the final price was--------$9.99.
and no taxes or shipping charges

4-0 out of 5 stars This is worth the money!
For months I have been struggling with a dial caliper that measures in thousandths of an inch and whose dial is small and hard to read accurately. As many have noted, calipers that read in thousandths are great for metal working but leave a lot to be desired for woodworking.

This inexpensive digital caliper is the solution!I bought mine at a recent woodworking show and I could not be happier with it.The auto zero allows you to instantly calibrate a baseline measurement and the large led display is easy to read.Best of all, it measures in standard inches so there is no calculation necessary.

I have found thisthing to be accurate and worth every penny.Granted it is not Starrett quality, but for the price it cannot be beat.Speaking of price, I landed mine for 26.99 at a woodworking show, so look out for better deals than this one!

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent deal!
For the price, this is a wonderful little device. It is accurate and repeatable. It comes with a short butfairly comprehensive manual (there is some sort of conversion chart on the back which I have not been able to decipher yet and is not covered). The manual has some odd English problems, implying it was probably translated from Chinese by someone who originally spoke Chinese, but it's understandable. I give this 4 stars because, while it seems well made, it is not as well-made as something like a Mitutoyo-still, you get what you pay for, and in this case you're getting a lot for a little!

5-0 out of 5 stars Incredible Value for the Price
I don't think I have ever purchased a tool where I have received so much value for the price I paid. I bought this because my well-used dial calipers finally bit the dust and this was cheaper than most good quality dial calipers. I was immediately impressed with the solid quality. And then with the accuracy! The first thing I did was measure the shaft of a high quality motor - .500 inches. Then I compared the thickness of my hair (.05 mm) with my wife's (.08 mm)! (You can select mm or inches). And it has a "zeroize" button. But once I zeroed it, I ran it out to the full length and back several times, even turned it on and off, and it stayed steady at .000 when closed. Why ever even use a micrometer?I was surprised it doesn't have an auto-off, but I can live with that for value received.
Very accurate, high quality, easy-to-read numbers - this will become one of my most-often used tools.

4-0 out of 5 stars nice!
This thing is slick! I can't believe I can get such an accurate instrument for less than $50. I got it because I needed to measure some jig dimensions that needed to be accurate to .001. This tool is certainly capable of doing that. Since then, I've used it for everything. It helps me determine inside and outside diameters of pipe, thread pitches, and most recently, drill bit sizes. The plastic case is very sturdy and protective.

The battery lasted over a year. That's probably about 40 hours of use. Probably the year that it sat caused more drain than the usage. The battery is an SR44, also called a 357. Might want to pick one up so you have it around.

Complaints: no auto-on/auto-off, and it doesn't have a fractional mode. For inch metrics, it'd be nice to have fractional measurements. ... Read more
