1-0 out of 5 stars TOO MUCH
I CAN PURCHASE THIS SET AT canadian tire for a lower price and this does not included the exchange.

3-0 out of 5 stars Make sure you really need this
Be aware that many of the items in this set are duplicates of each other. Also, there are only two nutdrivers. The screw guide is good, and it's smaller and easier to use than the one sold separately. Certainly, the quality seems excellent. But really think carefully about whether the two tips included with the screwdriver itself aren't sufficient, because this set just doesn't add that much.

5-0 out of 5 stars Finally, a hammer to replace my old Bluegrass framing hammer
I've used a 20 oz. Belknap Bluegrass framing hammer for 25+ years but have been unable to find an octagon replacement handle like the original. I've tried a few different brands of hammers to replace it but have been disappointed.

I recently purchased a Douglas 20 oz. framing hammer and am amazed. Great balance and feel. I won't miss my Bluegrass 20 oz. any more, though I still use my 16 oz. for finish work, siding, etc.

I can't recommend the Douglas framing hammer enough... Great hammer, worth every penny.

4-0 out of 5 stars Nice Hammer
I missed out on the original Hart Woody, but when Douglas (Coonran) won back his patent rights and started producing an updated model, I picked up the 18 oz finish and 20 oz finish and framing hammers.

After a couple of decks plus some interior framing, I can say that the hammer works as advertised. Traction face is about as effective as a waffle pattern and leaves fewer tracks, handle stays tight.

The only beef I have is that the company making the handles could do just a bit more work to lose the routed edges. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Lightweight Hammer
I recently re-ordered this hammer (my first one rode home with someone I don't know). I liked that one so much, I had to get another. I am a west coast Union carpenter, and Ti hammers are seen more and more often on job sites these days. I had to go back to an old 25 oz. hammer after my last Stilletto was stolen, and WOW, what a difference! I chose this hammer for many reasons, but here are a few you might consider: 1) it's light weight will save your body from wear and tear, 2) the smooth face, combined with the weight allow this hammer to be used for finish work, as well as framing (and it won't mash your fingers), 3) that magnetic nail holder comes in very handy and 4)I mean, come on, Titanium...it's just so cool. The only drawback to this hammer is it's tendency to ring like a tuning fork. You might find yourself reaching for earplugs if you don't already wear them. Other than that, it's simply a shame to think that you'll be using this beautiful tool in a manner that will (hopefully after many, many years) leave it worn and scarred. But when that time comes, at least you'll still be able to move your arm without pain.

5-0 out of 5 stars the best tool on my tool belt
i have used this hammer for over a year now . it is the best hammer i have ever used . after a long day of driving 16d sinkers my hands don't ack all night long . i have the poly/fiberglass handle on my big nail driver.

1-0 out of 5 stars Weightless
Found the hammer head to be way too light, causing discomfortthroughout my arm from any extended nail driving. Purchased a 21OZmilled faced framing hammer at same time and found it to be completely satisfactory. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Best penlight I've tried
The ability to use AAAA-diameter cells from a relatively thrifty and very common Duracell 9V battery is nice, as AAAA standard cells aren't widely stocked. The surprisingly bright little LED draws more than a third of a watt (90mA) from fresh cells, and it shows colors much more vividly than standard incandescent flashlights do.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best $14 I ever spent!
First, I've found all LED lights that make outragous claims of average battery life of dozens to hundreds of hours is either misleading or totally wrong... no matter what brand or where you bought them from. They either go totally dark in much less than half the rated time, or have gone too dim to even read large print with the light pressed closely to the page. To even get close to half the rated life, skip the alkalines, you must use expensive lithium or the highest capacity NiMi rechargables available on the planet.

So they all lie about or misrepresent your actual battery life. I'm sure some of them, if you put the most expensive batteries in the world in them, run the light almost to their rated battery life, if you take them into a fully darkend room, & hold the light to your face, strain your eyes, you will find the LEDs are still glowing very faintly... but that's not useful light.

I haven't found AAAA rechargables or lithiums, but you won't need them.

This is the only LED light I ever found that doesn't give you bull on battery life. It uses a single LED & 3 AAAA alkaline batteries that can be obtained cheap from many sources. Slightly longer than an oridinary pen, I take it everywhere, & is always with me at work. As an engineer, I've used it several times daily for over 6 months with the original batteries. I thought it might be getting a little dimmer so recently put fresh batteries in it. Although it got brighter, not significantly, so I put the old batteries back in. This light just won't die. Lot's brighter than any keychain light, it's as useful as most big lights. It fell 14' from a ladder onto solid concrete, into puddles, snow, & got paint & glue on it. Using harsh chemicals & scraping to get all the paint & glue off, it still looks & works like brand new. I don't know what they used to paint that light with, but there's not a scatch on it anywhere... no dents yet either. Solid & durable. Your best light will be the one that works when you need it to, & is close at hand. Best $14 I ever spent!

4-0 out of 5 stars Very good pen light
Streamlight Stylus is a very good pen light. It is surprisingly bright for a single-LED flashlight. And since it uses three AAAA sized batteries, the light won't go dead on you easily.

Stylus has a light switch at the end of the body. The light burns as long as you keep the switch depressed. If you need to have your both hands free, you can twitch the endcap, so you have a constant on light. The body of the flashlight is very well made and durable, and the light switch has a good feel to it. Along with the light, you get a removable sleeve. When the sleeve is on, the light beam is narrower and more focused. If you need a wider beam, just remove the sleeve.

My main gripe about the flashlight is that it is a bit too long. It will probably fit into your shirt pocket, but it is clearly longer than a typical pen. So, it is very uncomfortable to carry the light in your pants pocket, for example. If there were a Stylus that used only two batteries instead of three, I believe that would be a better penlight overall. And if you need a keychain -size flashlight, Stylus is naturally way too big for that application.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Little Light
This is really a terrific light. It uses LED technology whichtells you the following. The "bulb" is virtually unbreakable and appears to have an unbelievable work life (can you believe 100,000 hours). Run that on your pocket calculator see what that comes to in days and years.

Next, even though the LED burns with a pure white brilliance, it is cool to the touch. This is the light I let my 7 year old niece use. Because LEDs draw little power compared to the light they put out, they don't need large batteries. The battery size is AAAA. This allows for a very light weight tool.

If you need both hands free, you can hold this light in your mouth for a long time because of the light weight (no pun!) It also remains in your pocket forever without drawing attention to itself because of its size.

Also of great importance is that this is not just a toy(even though it is fun!) It is a real working tool. I am a physician and this is my little exam light. It works great at examining eyes and throats. You may find it useful in dozens of situations. Because of its size it can go everywhere- home, car, shirt or jacket pocket, purse or briefcase and so on. There are also different colored bulbs for specialty applications I won't go into here.

One of the complaints I have seen is regarding the AAAA batteries. First of all, the batteries last for a very long time because of the low power drain. You may never change the batteries. Secondly, the batteries are freely available at Walgreens which seem to be everywhere these days. They are in the specialty battery section with the hearing aid and photo batteries.I occasionally check and I have always found the AAAA's in stock.

The major limitation is that even though it puts out a lot of light for its size, it is a "pen light". If you need to light a whole room up you will need a bigger light.

Bottom line- this is a really great light. For the price, you can purchase several and leave them wherever you might need them.

LED technology is revolutionizing flashlights in the 21ST century and these lights are classical demonstrations of advanced technology. They do more things:put out more light, use less electrical power, weigh less, are less likely to break, and cost less. Enjoy!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great in small places
I've had this light for over 6 months. This little light has beena great asset in all of the places I've used it from working on a PC to crawling under a sink. For its size, this flashlight proovides quite a bit of light. The nicest thing is has over a flashlight, other than its easy to carry size, is that is doesn't leave part of the illuinated area dark like you would experience with a normal bulb since this uses an LED. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars I Like It
Overall: This is a very good portable light. It practically turns night into day wherever you point it and for a good deal of the peripheral area around your targeted area, if that makes sense.

Pros: Really, really bright. There's no hype there. This thing is like two car headlamps strapped together and placed in your hand.

The sealed lead-acid batteries (there are two, one in the bottom "block" and one in the upper part behind the lamps themselves) are strong, reliable, and long-lasting.

Cons: It's somewhat heavy for one-handed operation, but it comes with an optional strap which you can throw over your shoulder to have to keep from supporting the entire weight with your hand. It may sound awkward as I describe it, but it works very well.

The fit-and-finish is only "average". It's made overseas like so many things these days, and some of the labels, ports/connectors feel less than optimal, but I consider this criticism to be a nit. The things I've mentioned are really only aesthetic and don't affect the light's performance.

And a caution: The lens gets very very hot after use, so you need to store it with that in mind until it cools down after several minutes.

Conclusion: Highly recommended. If you need powerful, portable light, this is it.

5-0 out of 5 stars BEST LIGHT EVER
This is without a doubt, no question, the best flashlight in the world. This light should not even be considered a flashlight. It looks like a helicopter is shining at whatever you are pointing this thing at. It is that powerful. This will shine up anything you want, for up to one mile away. It is absolutely amazing. You will never be short of light again with this flashlight/helicopter spotlight. Buy it today.

2-0 out of 5 stars Mega Disappointment
This item was advertised as shipping within 1-2 days. In fact, 11 days passed before it was shipped. It took a total of 14 days to arrive from the time I placed my order. Amazon's poor customer service was matched by the mediocre quality of this item. It's bright, but poorly made and so heavy it is awkward to use. I advise avoiding Amazon.com and this item.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best Spotlight on the Market
I've had this spotlight for almost two years and I've never have any problems. First of all I believe it's the brightest customer spotlight on the market. It comes with two bulbs 1.5 million candlepower each. I suggest just having one bulb on at a time because it still is much brighter than you'll probably need for most cases and it more than doubles battery time. Speaking of which is great. I've never done any tests but with average use I charge it about once a month. The area light on it is great. It's much much brighter than most flashlights and because it only uses a fraction of the power than the twin beams do you can easily get 20 to 30 hours on a single charge. Also one thing I don't know if was mentioned in the product preview is that it works as a 12-volt car plug in. Which means anything you can plug into your car (i.e. cell phone, CD player) can be plugged in to the front DC charger. So you can run your cell phone or something off this thing. You can get an adapter and change this into a normal household plug in. Overall, this is a perfect for pretty much anyone.

5-0 out of 5 stars peace of mind
I bought this item originally for my boyfriend who lives in a very secluded area and very often has power outages.

We have used it on an unexpected night sailing trip and numerous other occasions. All around it is really handy and very powerful.

I bought one for myself and will never need another flashlight. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Worth the money.
I have had this book light for about 4 years. I use it almost every night for 1 - 3 hours. I have replaced the bulbs about 4 times (replacements were bought at Wal-Mart for about $2.00). The only issue I had with this product was with the AC adapter. I went to turn on the light one night and it wouldn't light. I checked the plug and found that the plastic had melted a little where the plug and the power cord meet. This was most likely my fault for leaving the light plugged in 24 hours a day, so I don't fault the product. But since then I have been using the battery pack, and I get about 2 months of operation from the 4 C batteries. I have taken this light on vacation, I have dropped the light and the battery pack, I have even stepped on it. The light has never broken. I would recommend this to any one looking for a book light.

5-0 out of 5 stars In Love with an itty bitty Book Light
If you love to read in bed, then you know how difficult it is to read when you not facing away from the lamp/light. I'm a serious reader and I want to see the page when I'm in bed. I had purchased other book lights with batteries attached to the actual light unit and found that you could really only use them if you were sitting up in bed. I like to be snuggled down in the covers reading to my heart's content.

This has been the best solution I've found. So far after a few months, I've been very impressed with this light. You can also read in bed without disturbing your bed partner. When you turn off your bedside lamp, you can still see what you are reading.

The light clips to any back of a hard or soft cover book. It is super lightweight. The cord is also really long and you have the option of an outlet or battery pack which uses four "C" cell batteries. Of all the book lights out there, this one seems to be the most versatile. You can use it in bed, in a car, on a plane or even in a tent.

This item also features a "thermal fuse" that will automatically turn off the lamp if it reaches between 120 -130 degrees. This is a useful feature if you fall asleep while reading and if blankets or sheets cover the light and it overheats, it will turn off automatically.

This light was a winner of three international design awards and is the only book light that is ETL approved. It has a heavy gauge wire and a failsafe rotary switch to give you years of use. Of course they recommend that you turn off the light before going to sleep, but it made me feel a bit safer since I've been known to fall asleep when reading at night.

Replacement bulbs are available in 2-bulb packs and if you can't find them, you can use their mail order option. There is also an option of ordering a compact pouch to keep the light safe while traveling.

What I really like about this light is how the light really can be adjusted to any angle. Need light focuses on a certain part of the page? No problem. Move the arm back and forth or rotate the light left or right to position the brightest light possible on the page you are reading.

Nifty Packaging, you can store your light on the shelf with your favorite books!

Seriously in love with this book light!

1-0 out of 5 stars Keep on looking
I got this book light as a gift and really wish I would have returned it and found something else. It works, but only in a time span of 45 minutes then it goes out and will not come back on. I am totally disapointed with this product!!!

2-0 out of 5 stars others
instead of buying this one, opt for a Rayovac booklight...they've got one with a pillow bottom, and another that had a string for around your neck...much better than it's itty bitty alternative

1-0 out of 5 stars Needs reengineering
I hate to admit it, but over the years I have bought 3 of these lights simply because there aren't a lot of good alternative choices out there. Each Itty Bitty light has been a problem, from failing switches to thin wiring breaking to problems with the A/C adapter plug to the hood falling off the light, not to mention the extremely short life and high expense of the bulbs. If you can find an alternative I would buy it rather than this. BEWARE! ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Expensive for what you get
I've used Petzl headlamps for many years. In fact, my old Zoom is still working great - now demoted from mountianeering duty because there are so many lighter options with comparable performance. The original Tikka was great when it was first available, but the competition has far surpassed it in terms of value. At $35, the new Tikka plus just can't compete with comparably priced models from Black Diamond or Princeton.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent replacement for the traditional snake light
Pros
- Bright
- 3 intensity settings plus a blink setting.
- Rubberized button interface is solidly implemented
- Ability to adjust light angle is great.
- Strap is comfortable.
- Unit is very light and comfortable to wear on one's head.
- Great replacement for the traditional snake light. Ie light is exactly where you need it- ie where your eyes are looking.
- Long battery life.

Cons
- NONE!

5-0 out of 5 stars Near perfect short-range headlamp
The Tikka Plus builds on the original Tikka/Zipka design. I also own an original Zipka (which has a retracting strap, but is otherwise identical to the Tikka) and have been happy with it as well.

The sliding switch in the old design was a weak spot and it has been replaced in the Plus designs with a much-improved sealed push button. The combination of the improved switch with an electronic brightness control system makes the Plus models worth every penny more you pay above the originals. The dimmed modes are achieved by rapidly pulsing the LEDs and does result in a very slight strobing effect when fast moving objects pass in front of the lamp. (rain, bugs, etc.)

The original Tikka/Zipka were not tilt adjustable and the "Plus" models address that shortcoming as well.

I have had my Tikka Plus out in the rain and snow and it's never had any trouble. The only water I would worry about with these headlamps would be saltwater.

The battery lifetimes stated by Petzl are mostly realistic if a bit optimistic. After the first 10-15 hours the brightness drops off a bit, but it remains quite usable for close work --cooking, reading, walking, etc. In complete darkness it's amazing how usable the light remains even after literally days of use.

In fact the gradual dimming of the light means that you'll probably replace the batteries to get it back to full brightness before they actually run out. And after getting 20-30 hours of light from 3 AAA batteries, you shouldn't feel guilty either. :) However in an emergency it's nice to know how far the batteries will go if needed -- whether that's in the backcountry or during an extended power failure at home... ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Powerful + Survived Blackout 2003
Early this year, I was shopping for a mini book lamp. I had only two choices:
1. Zelco "itty bitty" Book Light
2. Petzel E44p Headlamp.
Researched both products. Finally, decided Petzel E44P was the one for me based on reviews and the overall product specs . I purchased two Petzel headlamps and I'm happy that I made the right choice.
Petzel:
- Small, portable and powerful
- Light, Stable, Comfortable and Powerful lamp
- Handy Utility Lamp -
- Night Reading - Excellent
- Offer great lighting when you are working in a tight spot.
- Petzel E44P became my essential survival tool during the GREAT Blackout 2003!
- Pay more - Priceless for a Rock Solid Product
- Battery Perfect Size
- Powerful LED lamp vs. standard yellow light
- Long Lasting battery - The batteries are over 6 months old and it is still going strong.

Cons: Closing the battery lid was not easy.
On/Off switch could be better.

5-0 out of 5 stars Nearly perfect; just watch how you take it off
This is a nearly perfect headlamp.

Positive points:
1) Best battery life of any headlamp that I've seen. LED lamps, low power consumption, etc. mean that it easily gets 100 hours per set of batteries.
2) Lightest, most comfortable headlamp on the market, especially for daily use and/or "in your pocket, when I need it" use.
3) Terrific as a "go put the dog out" or "reading in bed" light.

Bottom line: it's really cool; works great, can be packed away, and used as a hand lamp...get one. You'll love it.

Minor caveats:
1) There's a little warning slip in the package, but in case you miss that: to avoid unpleasant surprises, DO use two hands to take it off, so the rear pad doesn't jump off the back of your head and hit your hand.
2) It's not waterproof, and not as secure as some of the higher-end sport headlamps. Therefore, when pursuing physically vigorous activities, you may want a headlamp that is a little more secure. This is fine, however, for jogging, biking, reading in bed, etc.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic For Camping And Many Other Uses!
I purchased my first Zipka as a stocking stuffer for my husband, HOPING he would use it. It gets used all the time! Taking out the trash, in the workshop, as a book light, around the house and of course Camping! My whole family has since purchased them. The battery lasts forever and its a great way to tend the fire or cook without having to set up a lantern or other light source. Its light weight and durable too. Even my small cousins have them and they work great!

5-0 out of 5 stars Wow- lasts forever, great product!
This light never dies due to its LED technology. It is not extremely bright but definitely bright enough for illuminating your path at night. It is great for power outages or camping. I feel much safer walking or jogging at night in my neighborhood. Light-weight, very good attachment mechanism. This product is a major improvement compared to the standard head lamp, to the point that everybody should have one. It is a perfect gift in that it is (1) reasonable price, (2) usable by anybody, (3) sufficiently different that people are unlikely to already have it, (4) truly useful/safety feature as opposed to worthless junk that is most gifts.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great light for occasional use
I am a private pilot and carry this light in my flight bag. It has proven to be phenomenally useful. I highly recommend it for any situation where you need an occasional light (household use, in your car, boat, for camping, etc.) For portable, occasional use, this cannot be beat. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars stanley tools
Stanley tools will always be held in high regard. If you look after this equipment it give good service for years.

4-0 out of 5 stars Solid tool with a few rough edges
This is a solidly built block plane that will give you years of service once you spend a little time and tune it up right. Nearly every plane made requires some fine adjustment out of the box so that should not be considered a negative when purchasing this item.

The cap iron may need a little lapping at the front bottom to fit smoothly against the plane iron. The blade comes with a serviceable factory edge but I honed mine nonetheless. Check the blade for flatness and lap the back if necessary. The bottom of the plane should be checked for flat and the sides for square before you commit to using this on your finer projects.

Again, most planes need this kind of tuneup as they come out of the box. The only fault I have with this plane is that the rear adjustment screw has a bit too much free play (a sixteenth of an inch) between the adjustment screw collar and the blade adjustment. I fixed that by disassembling the mechanism and fitting a brass shim around it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Plane insane if you don't have one!
I held off buying a plane for a long time. How foolish! This little plane has saved me lots of sandpaper, and it's really fun to use. I shaved the high spots off of some old drawers that I had to install some slides on, and took some layers of paint off the edges of some old cabinet doors. The old paint was really tough to get off the bottom of the plane, since I didn't have any solvent. I finally tried spraying a little carburetor cleaner on it and it came off pretty easily.

If you haven't used a plane before, this is a good one to start with. It takes a bit of practice to adjust it properly, but it's easy to tell when you get it right.

4-0 out of 5 stars A nice tool once you get it tuned up
I purchased one of these planes a few weeks ago. I was impressed by the smoothness of the moving mechanisms, and the sole appears to be of good quality. The cutting iron was not flat but I guess this is typical. It took some work to get it flat. I don't have a diamond sharpening stone so I was using sandpaper - pretty slow because I didn't want to use a heavy grit to get it down. Using various grades of wet/dry sandpaper I was able to get it nice and sharp. The sole was pretty flat, but it was cupped in the middle just a bit. I lapped it flat as well. While not as critical as other components, the cap iron left much to be desired. I was not at all pleased with the quality here. The edge that meets the cutting iron was not straight. It was all lumpy. I thought maybe it was just thick excess paint, but when I ground it flat with some rough sandpaper I had to go through the paint to the bare metal. It was a terrible casting. It wasn't too hard to make it flat, but I had to take off quite a bit of material before I had solid metal from edge to edge - it was that bad. You might want to open the box and inspect the plane before buying it. It is unbelievable that a so-called quality tool would have such a defect. Having said that, I must say that overall I am pleased with the tool. I knew it was going to take some tuning to make it worth using. It does a great job now. Very handy to have around. Don't expect it to perform well right out of the box.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good buy
Stanley has been making planes for a long time. They do know what they are doing. I have a few of these around for general purpose work . I also have some Lie Nielsons and I love them but I keep them safe and out of reach of others'. I don't care who uses the Stanleys. I know if they get ruined , I'm not out much. With a little tuning a stanley will do a respectable job. Lap the sole and the iron ,put a good bevel on it and it will cut aggressively or produce a fine shaving. The adjustable throat is a must for avoiding tearout. I like the low angle version of this plane a little better. It is easier to control .It also makes a finer cut. It won't cut as deep however. To get a better plane you will have to spend at least twice as much so this is not a bad deal. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Better than one would expect
I have had my Stanley low angle block plane for a year now. It is a good plane. It took about one hour to tune up. It is very good for the money. Is it a Bridge City plane? no. However, it is also affordable.

This would be the first plane for the woodworker using power tools. A number 4 or 5 plane is very useful also.

5-0 out of 5 stars Good Quality Plane
I was very pleasantly surprised when I received this plane. It's solid, well made, and easy to use. The plane needed some tune-up but nothing exceptional. The blade is tempered and keeps an edge for an acceptable period of time. Adjustments are easy - unlike a previous reviewer, I can retract the blade after use without problem.

All-in-all, an excellent plane for the price.

1-0 out of 5 stars Modern crap
This is an example of modern crap!
It is the most poorly designed machined hand tool I have ever seen with the name Stanley on it.
The excentric cam (it tightens the blade) on my old stanley low slope broke and I thought I'd replace it (knowing I'd never be able to by the part...through it away and replace, we don't "fix" anything any more) I purchased this item. What junk ! I regret owning this. After much filing I can now actually retract the blade for storage and extend it for use without having to take it apart. The adjusting and tightening mechanisms have been redesigned and function lousey.

5-0 out of 5 stars Good tool at a great price
No matter how many power tools you have in your builder's or cabinetmaker's kit, you need a block plane, and the Stanley delivers 90% of the performance of the high-end tools at a fifth of the cost. I've used mine for heavy duty work, like triming new window casings flush with walls, as well as for delicate trimming in repairing musical instruments.

The bases of the Stanley tools may not be as perfectly flat as those of the expensive Lie Nelsons, but that's easily rectified in short order with some sandpaper and a sheet of glass. A fine tool at an excellent price.

5-0 out of 5 stars top of the line
I'm a carpenter's apprentice and as I purchase tools to add to my collection, I always consult the guys on the job beforehand. This block plane, without a doubt, received their absolute recommendation. It's a great tool to have around, as I learned, for hardwood flooring. When cutting the last few pieces in a field, it is imperitive to have a block plane that is up to snuff and this one is and then some. It's also an invaluable tool for doing basesboard when you need to scribe the 2 by lumber to the floor. This is a tool of professional quality that will be enormously helpful to those who are pros and those who are the regular family handyman or weekend warrior. 5 stars!!! ... Read more
