Love it!
The Coast LL7526 V16 White Pen Light has been one of my favorite new purchases. It does have two batteries that are Li/3V that can apparently be purchased through jewelry stores and even Walmart. The light is LED which is supposed to last 100,000 hours. I am a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner and use this light to clip onto a wooden tongue blade to inspect mouths and throats of little ones. It frees up my second hand to be able to hold the child's head more easily if needed, and because it's so small, its seems to be less threatening to the children. I plan to purchase a couple more, so that I always have one in my pocket!

Batteris Not Needed
This light uses LED technology, there are no batteries- last up to 100,000 hours of use!

Great for camping and emergencies
This lantern is great for camping and power outages because you don't have to mess around with propane, especially important with small children around. I noticed that this one offers a 110 recharge, ours doesn't. Only 12V. It would be even better with the 110 option. One downfall - I have had a difficult time finding replacement bulbs. I recently found some to get it ready for this summer and the price of the two bulbs was almost as much as buying a new lantern.

quiet light
I didn't want to use a propane or other fuel lantern, they seem so dangerous and they are so noisy. I was also tired of buying D sized batteries. When we found this lantern, we were thrilled and it was great when we were camping. We used it every night for at least 3 hours a night and it hasn't needed recharging yet. We plan on buying at least one more for our next trip.

I own two and couldn't get through the winter without them
We have two of these lanterns, and I am buying a third as a gift for my son who lives in the DC area. But we do not use ours for "outdoor" activities as the introduction would lead you to believe.
We use ours every time we have a power outage - usually in the winter.
After using them, I just remove the bottom door and plug them into an outlet so that they will be fully powered the next time we need them - no worry about batteries leaking, or being 'borrowed' from the lantern for use in a toy...........

Great Hammer
I bought this hammer about a month ago and now I'm back ordering 3 more for a co-worker and my 2 bosses'. The long handle and nail starting head make it great for nailing above your head. The handle is lightweight and comfortable. As for the nail pulling issue I have read about in other reviews, I think it works fine, I would say about 85% of nails I can pull-not including finish nails. The only issue I have is the grove on the head of the hammer where the nail sits in -- after a little use the waffle points on the face of the hammer flatten out and get in the way of the grove, and 20p nails don't fit in the grove to begin with. After a little filing it should work fine..

a good looking piece of junk
While steel headed death sticks have a nice feel when you swing them, these hammers will rust without every day oiling, they wear out very quickly and I don't recomend them to anyone. I do however recomend the high quality line of titanium death stick hammers which last a long time and can't rust. If a titanium hammer is out of your price range and you want a decent checkered face ripping claw hammer, your best bet is probably a 22 ounce fatmax which is made by stanley.

Worst hammer ever.
At first I thought to myself, "Wow, a hammer designed to make nailing easier. What a great idea". Little did I know that the hammer was pure trouble.
At first the hammer seemed harmless enough but eventually it started to get nasty. Then outright rude. Eventually it started to get all the nails in frenzy and they started running all over the place and causing trouble in the workplace.
Eventually we had to call the foreman and have the hammer, along with all the nails, removed from the job-site.
I wish someone had warned me.

GREAT WITH GRAPHITE REPLACED HANDLE
I HAVE HAD 2 DEATH STIX AND HAVE REPLACED BOTH HANDLES ONCE WITH THE NORMAL WOOD ONES. MY FIRST ONE LASTED ALMOST A YEAR. THE SECOND ONE ABOUT 2 MONTHS. GET THE GRAPHITE REPLACEMENT HANDLE AND YOU'LL BE MUCH HAPPIER. I GO ABOUT 225lbs AND HAVE HUNG OFF A POLLBARN WITHOUT BREAKING THIS HANDLE.

Death Stick good and bad
The Death Stick is peachy in the right circumstances, and the magnetic nail slot is handy every so often for 8d nails or longer. But there are drawbacks to buying it.

(1) The handle is infamous for breaking. (I've wrapped a rubber-gasketed pipe clamp just below the head of mine to protect the neck.) If you're a pro you know that you use a framing hammer for a lot more than just whomping nails into wood, and if the handle of your hammer breaks too often when you stress it, you get scared of it, and that's not good.

(2) The handle is too narrow just where you want to hold it for maximum driving power, although the hatchet (California) shape does lock in nicely against the heel of your hand when you grip it all the way to the butt. In my opinion, and I'm no engineer, the handle should be re-shaped to more nearly conventional contours.

(3) The post-purchase customer service from the company is sketchy to crappy. I figure if the handle of mine breaks I'm on my own. Speaking of which, the hardware guy who sold me mine said a framing crew supervisor had been in the day before to buy three dozen replacement handles!

Buy this hammer only for the fun of owning it, not because you think it's a day-to day tool that professional framers require. ... Read more

Best Flashlight Bar None
Well, almost. Actually, I prefer it's twin, the T-3, which has a better switch mechanism, but the X03 has a sheath for your belt, so it's a toss-up.

This flashlight is made like a brick outhouse and is appropriate for use in any kind of weather. It has a clear, wide, white beam that's bright enough to reach out far ahead of you. I'd have to say it's an outdoor light because, indoors, you can use an LED light that goes much longer on a set of batteries. This light is for camping, tracking and police work. It's also great as a self defense tool at night. Just hit a bad guy in the eyes with this and run. It also fortifies your fist if you need to strike your attacker.

Botach.com sells the light for about 10+ bucks cheaper and sells batteries cheap as well. The price here is retail and who pays retail for things anymore, especially over the Internet.

The light comes in black or brushed satin. They're both beautiful and made of the best commercial aluminum available. Also, there's no jiggle of the light when you shake it. It's solid.

Solves a problem very well
Most pouches don't come with a good place for a square and the darn things are always falling out or poking you in the ribs or something. This scabbard is well made and clips onto a pants pocket with a metal clip or it can be slid onto the belt using the loops on the back of the scabbard. The extra pouch and pencil slots are nice too. The material looks nice and is very resistant to wear, damage and fluids. I heartily reccomend it if you carry a sqaure often.

End user in mind.
After getting tired of scraping knuckles in a large pouch, tearing holes in pants pockets, and trying other products, I have found a product that works. The scabbord does just what it says. A left handed model would make this a 5 star product. It's functional, easy to find your square/tape/pencil without having to look all of the time. It's also very durable, a definite PLUS. As a hobbyist, I look for products that will give me a lifetime of service, easy to work with, versitile, and dependable. The Layout Square Scabbord does all of this. I'm very pleased with this product.

Compact and lightweight
Being a do-it-yourselfer, I have not yet invested in one of those "everything" tool belts. Thus far, I have always just stuffed my speed square in the biggest available pocket, and then pushed it out of the way when I needed something else in the same pocket. This speed square scabbard makes all the difference. It is compact and lightweight, yet it is extremely durable. And it frees up some extra space in my tool belt! Pulled out hardedened cut nails!
I had 18 Hardened Masonry Cut Nails 16D, which were holding a 2x4" framing onto my garage's concrete floor. The nail holes into the concrete were predrilled, then the nails were hammered to a depth of 3/4" to 1" into the concrete. The framing was the foundation for a 3/4" plywood, emergency, hurricane garage enclosure (I live in Florida), that went through three hurricanes in 2004. Now I had to remove it, and wanted to save the framing intact. HOWEVER, I HAD NOT BEEN ABLE TO EXTRACT THE HARDENED CUT NAILS.

I used a Stanley 36" FatMax Wrecking Bar on one nail, and the first nail chewed up the edge of the claw, and the bar didn't even budge the nail. Apparently, the FatMax is not hardened/forged/alloy to handle hardened masonry cut nails. I had hammers that had also dented. However, I had a 30 year old all steel Estwing hammer that did not dent, so, I thought I had hope for a nail puller that would not break.

I wrote to Estwing, asking them for a recommendation for a bar of their manufacture that could do the job, and they replied as follows:
"Estwing has nothing that would give different results in terms of hardness to remove your cement nails. The Rockwell hardness readings on the cement nails are greater than anything we have to deal with them. We would think you need to cut the nails out with a carbide saw, etc. or approach the problem from a different way. I am sorry we could not be more help to you."

I contacted Fulton Corporation, the manufacturer of Fulton TW36WB 36" Long Wrecker Pry Bar, with the same question, and they responded more positively, as follows:
"I don't know what will happen, for certain, if you try to pull out your nails with our Wrecker Bar. I will tell you this, however. The only claim we have ever denied was in the case of a user who admitted the bar broke when he put a 10" long "persuader pipe" on the end of it and tried to move an extremely heavy object. If you buy one of our 48" Wrecker bars and use it for your nails, without additional "persuasion" attachments and you are unhappy with its condition when you are done (i.e. the nail claw chips), take it back to your dealer and have him replace it for you."

That said, I bought the TW36WB 36" Long Wrecker Pry Bar (because I had restricted room to work, and the 48" might be too long).

THE RESULTS:
I received the TW36WB today from Amazon.com, and I put it into action immediately, the results:

The nail claw, on the greater angled side of rocker head, pulled out the cut nails with some effort, however, much less effort than the less angled side (Fuller's ad says "Rocker head for more power" and great leverage". I say, that's true!). I have to say that all things considered, it worked great on the more angled side (more leveraged side), however, I was only able to reach five of the 18 nails that I needed to extract with that more leveraged side. Of the remaining 13 nails, which I had to pull out with the less angled side, about nine came out with some more effort. The other four, were HELL to pull out, mainly because by then the claw had bent some at the point of contact with the nails. It became difficult to get a good hold onto the cut nails from there on (for the last four nails), since cut nails barely have much of a head to grab anyway. There wasn't much room to hammer the cut nails back and forth to help lessen their hold, however, that's what I had to do to be able to finish the job with the wrecker bar, since there was not as good claw left by then.

BOTTOM LINE: It did the job, but the claws were damaged in the process. The claws won't work anymore for the job I used them (cut nails with little head), however, the claws will work fine with common wire nails. I think that the damage to the wrecker bar claws would have been negligible, had I had more room to use only the more leveraged side.

A TOUGH JOB! I don't think there's another bar that could have done the job as well as Fulton TW36WB 36" Long Wrecker Pry Bar, mainly because of the greater leverage of the rocker head, the dual claws, the alloy and girth of the steel, and it's Made in the USA (I don't buy products made in China). The bar saved me from a lot of labor!

ADDITIONAL OBSERVATIONS:
The hardened cut nails were only embedded a little under one inch, amazing the hold they have! Hardened nails are harder than the claws (and they'll make the forged steel of the claws look like soft metal. The Fulton TW36WB claws tackled the job about as well as it's going to get.), so, DON'T USE HARDENED CUT NAILS IF YOU INTEND TO EXTRACT THEM!!!!!!

Mag lite flashlights to me are the best that are on the market today for the money. This 3 "C" cell flashlight is alot more lightweight than its heavier counterparts and is very bright, don't let its size fool you this is a very powerful flashlight and it is also constructed from high quality aircraft aluminum and is waterproof. Excellent flashlight - good price
I keep one of these flashlights in both of my vehicles. They provide a lot of light from a fairly small package. Buying the "C" battery version allows you all of the benefits of a Maglight - brightness, durability, etc. but its light weight makes it less cumbersome to carry. You won't find a better flashlight that this.

Some of the Best Batteries for Electronics
I have used these batteries several times for some of my electronic devices, and I can say without hesitation that they are the best that i have ever used.If you do not need batteries for a demanding electronic device, then you could probably do without these since they tend to be a bit more expensive.But if you have something that needs alot of power and you don't want to be constantly buying new batteries, then definantly give these a try.

Worth the extra price
I gave some of these to a friend to try, and she and her son loved them:

I've got an old cd player that drains batteries like crazy. When I tried these in it, they lasted at least twice as long. They do cost more initally, but when you figgure out you have to change your batteries half as often, you end up saving in the long run.

Like the first reviewer, I have a Toshiba digital camera that drains batteries in less than a few hour's use. I actually considered selling my camera to get a different one solely because I couldn't find batteries that could handle it!
