5-0 out of 5 stars The third and best grinder
I had the opportunity to get myself in deep (up to my ears) in a welding project and needed a grinder. Well as it turns out this is the third grinder I have had to buy and it is by far the best. My first grinder was a cheap chinese unit that SCREAMED loudly and didn't last. The second unit was a Ryobi unit available from your local home improvement center, quiet and smooth but with a fatal flaw that was a consant problem, when you set it down it hits the power switch and turns on momentarily flying all over the place, at 10000 RPM this is a problem. The switch failed mercifully and I gladly threw it away. This Ryobi angle grinder did not last very long, another Made in China wonder. Speaking of switches that brings us back to the Dewalt unit which has a safety latch on the switch, that works very well. It's quiet, safe, and made in America. Oh by the way, ALLWAYS use ear and eye protection when grinding and cutting metal! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Where is the UL seal?
This is an excelent grinder. I delayed getting it because I could not determine why it was not UL listed. I have two other grinders... a top of the line Sears Craftsman and Dewalt's best model... it's easier to have three grinders than to be changing attachments all the time. I didn't want to by a third top of the line unit. This one is comfortable, powerful, and the power switch is in a logical location and is easy to turn off quickly... beware some other low-priced (non-UL) grinders have a very clumsy switch which could be difficult to ulock and turn off in an emergency. I have not been able to determine why this one is not UL listed... I called B&D and they gave me the run-around... I bought the grinder anyway.

5-0 out of 5 stars Easy to use
The Black and Decker G850 is a breeze to use. I needed a grinder for a project and spent more time then I should have looking for one at a good price and that would meet my needs. I actually took a chance on this grinder. I have used other small angle grinders at work,,but this one was much easier to handle. I could grip it at the center,,near the top or about anywhere and the balance was great. Sure makes it easy on the arms. I also like the area were the switch is at, toward the rear, under the handle. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A great machine
I used an old Skil saw to cut brick and block, but after finally melting the internals beyond repair I was forced to look for an alternative.

I chose this machine based on the flexability of the 7" and 9" guards that come standard.

The machine has plenty of power cutting red bricks with far more ease than a Makita chop saw.

I love the ability to rotate the main/rear grip - it makes this grinder far more versatile and comfortable than other I have used in the past.

The only downside to this grinder is the optional 7" cutting wheel guard is pricey. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Nice grinder!
Its the first grinder I ever had and I think its awsome hard to slow down easy and change disks.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best small grinder available
I am a commercial mechanical contractor using tools in the harshest environments. Having used almost all brands, I have found Metabo to be the only one that holds-up. Forget Bosch, Makita, Porter-cable, Dewalt, Milwaukee, and Hitachi. I have tried them all and none will last under heavy use. Metabo's motor technology and general tool ruggedness is superior to all I have tried. Fein might make a comparable product, but at a much higher price.

5-0 out of 5 stars 4-1/2" Angle grinder ultimate workhorse
I have only owned/worked with two Metabo angle grinders in the last 8 years. It's all I have needed. I own one that is 7 years old, and has only ever needed a switch slide, power cord, and brushes. I have worked it extrememly hard, at jobs which destroyed Milwaukee and DeWalt grinders in a day or two: cutting apart 330(35/15)Stainless steel fixtures and racks for repair using an .040 cutting disk. I worked the thing so hard I needed to keep my welding gloves on to hold the gear box. (NOT something I would recommend for any other angle grinder.) It has suffered numerous falls from welding tables, tool carts, and even ladders, and kept right on running. The only reason I am buying another is aesthetics: the old one is ugly, covered in pockmarks and the logo is worn off.

5-0 out of 5 stars Metabo W7-115 Quick Change 4 1/2" Angle Grinder
The Metabo is the best electric angle grinder I have ever used. I have been in the steel construction industry for 20 years. I use a grinding machine every day, and by far the one grinder I prefer to use is the Metabo. I have used Milwaukee, Bosch, Hilti, Makita, Dewalt, Porter Cable, just to name a few, and none of those machines even comes close to the Metabo in terms of power and smoothness. This little Metabo can grind as well as a bigger machine from the competitors. The Metabo might be a little more expensive than some of the other brands, but if you are looking for a long lasting powerful machine used by steel tradesman, the Metabo is the one. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars This thing rocks!
I actually own the 9527NB, which has the locking on switch on top rather than the paddle, other than that they are the same. I love this thing! I bought it a while back to clean up the frame on my car to prepare for some welding. It worked great for that and all other tasks I put it up to. I really like the light weight and easy-to-grip size, this makes it great for use while laying down(like doing a car frame.) This thing eats right through most metals without slowing down.

One other feature that I like is that the upper back part of the motor housing is square which makes it very stable when laying on it's back so you don't have to worry about it rolling away when not in use.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very Dependable
I've owned this grinder for about ~ 4years or so. I probably reach for this grinder more than any other tool (when I do metal fab work). It has been used and abused and keeps on going. Not much more you can hype up about an angle grinder than it's power and durability. ... Read more
