Kick butt tool!
I like this stud finder a lot! It seems to work well - I've had zero problems using it since I got it. It senses the studs easily and even turns itself on when it makes contact with the wall! Highly recommend!

WARNING DO NOT BUY!!!!!!!
Biggest piece of junk I have ever bought. It could not find studs properly. I trusted it and now have a whole in my wall that I have to pay someone to come and fix!!!!! It said there were two studs within 16 inches apart. I was putting up a wall niche and needed to cut out between them. IT WAS SO WRONG!!!!! It couldn't tell there was a stud in the middle at the 8 inch mark!!!! I could have done better throwing darts at the wall and going by were they landed!!!!.
Please do not buy this.

Terrible
Like many others have said, doesn't calibrate right.... NO TWO READINGS ARE THE SAME. Half the time my WHOLE WALL was a stud. This is a terrible product. I searched for help, and found none. I even went and bought a new battery thinking it would do the trick, and nothing. Now I have to waste MORE of my time in getting a different one.

Don't bother!
I received this as a gift and it has never worked correctly. It never calibrated and hence was useless. Save your money.

Deserves zero stars. I received one as a gift. Worked fine the first day out of the box, but the next day it went nuts -- every inch of my wall had a stud under it according to the finder -- and hasn't worked since. I'm just glad I didn't waste my own money on it. ... Read more

Best All-Around Ruler
Let's keep this review simple:

My brother, the young machinist, carries one in his pocket.

My brother-in-law, the self-employed business man/middle-aged machinist, carries one.

My father, the old retired machinist, STILL carries one (and always has).

As for myself, the woodworker, I own two. I used to own three, but I think my wife, the crafter, nicked one.

I logged on just to check the price for my sons. They are too young to know what they want to be, but I'll bet this ruler will fit in somehow.

Crisp, accurate embossed graduations that can't rub off. Ground edges (not sheared from stock).

The only real problem--it's far easier to lose one than it is to wear it out. I think about getting a 1" wide version sometimes, but never do.

I just had a thought...now I know what to get my secretary on when her holiday comes around. She's always mucking around with this wooden, gradeschool ruler. It's time she was a "convert." ... Read more

A Wonder-Ful Pry Bar
For those of us that work sitting on their backsides all day, there is nothing quite like going home and destroying something at night to take out some tension. The pry bar is the perfect tool for this task.

The 12 1/2" pry bar may be a bit too short for the largest jobs, but this size is a perfect size for the majority of jobs. Whether ripping out drywall, removing molding, pulling stubborn nails, or popping tiles, this is the tool. The tool is angled differently at each end. One end is for popping items like nails. The other end is better for prying tiles, for example. Because of the different angles, you gain different levels of leverage.

This is the tool for home (destruction) improvement.

One of the best pry bars...
This pry bar goes by many names in my field. The workders call it a 'wonder bar,' while most carpenters refer to it as a 'flat bar' and roofers call it a 'shingle bar.' By any name, it is a great tool for any home improvement worker or home owner. I have been using this tool for over 20 years. Very good light duty bar clamp
If you are going to use this for clamping with any significant force, get a heavier clamp. Working with picture frames and similar light work, or in reduced lengths, this clamp will work well for you. When I stretch it out to ~15 inches and apply enough force to push 2 x 4's together on a biscuit, it flexes by bowing the I-beam in a semi-circular arc. This throws the jaws out of alignment and applies and off center force that causes the joints flex out of square.

In summary, if you are doing light work, this clamp is a great value. If you need moderate clamping force, save your money and buy a more appropriate clamp that won't flex on you.

I'm a certifiable clamp junkie & I prefer the Jorgensen line. I've strayed off the straight & narrow occasionally & tried other brands but I've always come back to Jorgies. Simple & bullit-proof, nice thick cushy pads & a clutch system that engages without fuss every time. The minis are great for light duty clamping, getting into tight spots & setting up jigs. For these jobs I like the 8" length, not too short & not too long. I think Jorgensens design is as good as anyone's, their quality control consistantly a cut above & their price a little easier on the pocket book. Couldn't live without it!
This rule is stored in my pocket whenever I'm doing any wood or metal work. I have owned it for over 15 years and to this day, use it so religiously that a holster would not be uncalled for. It is exceptionally easy to read with astounding precision and includes a handy decimal equivalent chart on the back. I lost the clip long ago and don't miss it - not very pocket friendly. Although very flexible, it's thin edge makes it extremely useful as a straightedge when aligning components. When woodworking, it serves as a light duty scraper for fine-tuning joinery or cleaning glue joints. I have a beautiful 12" Mitutoyo rigid rule that I also like, but it's this that goes everywhere with me. I am so dependant on this rule that I sought out replacement availability in anticipation of the tragic day in which I finally misplace it.
