Amazon.com Review

Remember when snow days meant snowball fights, building forts, and a day off from school? Now, they just mean having to shovel the driveway and walkway. Lucky for us, the Toro 1800 Power Curve snow thrower can make that job a lot less arduous and time-consuming. Powered by a 12 amp electric motor, the Power Curve can clear 4 inches of snow off a 50-by-20-foot driveway in 10 minutes flat. The thrower cuts to a depth of 10 inches and width of 18 inches per pass. A patented two-blade curved rotor scrapes the snow all the way to the pavement and throws it up to 30 feet. The chute rotates 160 degrees, too, for better snow control. Best of all, the Power Curve is lightweight, compact, and maneuverable. Startups are easy. Just squeeze the trigger on the control bar, then release it when you want to stop. A key lock helps prevent unauthorized use, so you don't have to worry about kids, or even the neighbor borrowing it without permission. With the Power Curve, snow removal is quick and easy, so you can spend your time on more important things, like having snowball fights. --Carl Thress ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Man! I am so happy
I live in Northern Va. We had our first two snows of the year. One of those heavy wet snows that Doctors tell us 63 year olds to avoid. Total snowfall 10 inches. I live in a townhouse, but with a lot of sidewalk (40 feet X 8 feet wide) plus two parking spaces and a patio. Now, with this machine (It dosent look like much when it's delivered.) I did the entire thing in 30mins which includes a little break. It did'nt throw slushy snow 30 feet but it threw it a heck of a lot farther than I could with a shovel. I believe it would throw fluffy snow 30 feet. Cord is a hassle, but something has to be( but no rope to pull or carburators to fool with or gasoline to store. I don't have a garage.) It weighs about 25 lbs, easy to carry and store. A job that used to take all morning ( with numerous rests now is over in 30mins. When I was 40 I would have laughed at a snow blower, but now, at 63 I am delighted.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great value
Great value and it did what it promised. Compact, light weight, no maintenance, and always started. After last President's Day snow, I decided never to break my back again. Looked around for a snow thrower. Most everything was expensive gas-powered lawn-mower size machines. In this part of Maryland we don't get that many snow storms and I have only a 30 feet 2-car drive-way. So, I wasn't willing to spend that much for using 5 or 6 times a year. This is under $300 and has sufficient power to get me out of the house in 15 minutes, including few extra minutes for untangling the extension chord (not included), clearing about 4-5 inches this morning. Good job Toro.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Greatest Invention since the George Foreman Grill
I live in NYC and I just used this snow thrower during the last nor'easter, in which we received 6 inches of snow. I just got home from work and there were my three neighbors: Mr. Nosey and Mr. and Mrs. Know-it-all half way done shoveling their driveways. "A lot of snow we got, eh, Crab. You got your work cut out for you!" With that the three of them started to smirk. Little did they know I had a secret weapon: The Toro 38025 1800 Power Curve Snow Thrower which I had sent to me under the cover of darkness away from their prying eyes. Tired, cold, hungry and scared, I plugged that bad boy in and off I went. Within 30 minutes, I plowed my driveway to concrete while my snoopy neighbors were still digging away. I guess I got the last laugh. There was no hassle,no fuss, no gas, no oil, no spark plugs. It's also light weight and I was able to lift it and plow a snow drift. It's so small and compact that it takes little space inside my house. Just a caveat: you should spend the 10 extra bucks for the 100' cord. My only regret is that I should have bought the Toro last year!

5-0 out of 5 stars WE LOVE THIS THING!
No more shoveling for us! Using this easy to use snowblower is like pushing a vaccumm cleaner! We whrrrr down our sidewalks in half an hour - compared to what used to take us an hour and a half! We even do the neighbors' walks now - it goes so fast! Handles a pretty heavy snowfall with two passes sometimes - but its still very fast, and easier on us than the old shovel.

Something we first time snowblowers learned pretty fast: just be careful to make sure the chute is pointed downwind of you. :D

4-0 out of 5 stars Save your back!
I had back surgery a couple of years ago and find it impossible to shovel snow without my back hurting. I bought this lightweight Toro and it is great; no more back pain after removing snow. The cord can be in the way sometimes, but it is a minor inconvenience considering how well it removes the snow. ... Amazon.com Review

DeWalt's 5-inch random-orbit sander is a great tool for professional woodworkers and painters, as well as homeowners looking for a reliable sander for do-it-yourself projects. It has a 2 amp motor that provides 12,000 orbits per minute, with a 3/32 orbit diameter. Its controlled finishing system maintains consistent control over the pad speed, minimizing gouging at startup. We found that the sander removes material quickly and leaves a good finish. While it has less vibration than many sanders we've tried--thanks in part to DeWalt's dual-plane counterbalanced fan--we found that gripping the tool from the side rather than from the top seemed easier on the hands, and thought the top grip could get tiresome in extended-use situations. We liked the dust canister configuration on this tool, which uses a simple and effective twist-lock mechanism to prevent air pressure from popping the canister off the tool. The sealed switch prevents problems from dust contamination. The kit comes with the sander, a dust collector, a vacuum attachment, and a case. --Brian Trinen ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars A little rough around the edges
This sander really does work fine, it does the job it is designed to do. I do have a couple of complaints though. Firstly the dust bag is basically useless. Mine has broken twice and when it is in place it is largely ineffective. ( Actually though, I fail to see how a ssnder's dust bag can work without a vacuum, but anyway) and the other gripe is the power switch. Mine is in a dust protective booted cover, that I usually fail to properly toggle, so when I start to sand, it will turn off - or the worse case it turns back on when I am setting it down. I can say however, that this unit has held up through the years that I have owned it, dropped it, loaned it . . . So I have no question as to its durability. I cannot base it on any comparisons with other RO sanders, but I can say I have got my moneys worth over and over.

5-0 out of 5 stars Lil' Yellow Bugger
What won't this little machine do? How about cook breakfast. As far as sanding I've done it all from finishing drywall, smoothing out old plaster walls, brought an old rusty flea market file cabinet back to life & even shined up the family grocery getter with a wool bonnet! Nice sealed switch, handy case & super convenient vacuum hook-up hiding in the dust bag. Buy it! If you have problems with this sander your probably not ready for power tools yet , get a rubber sanding block!

5-0 out of 5 stars Very happy with this sander
I own the PSA variant of this sander and got this one for free. The result: my PSA sander is now collecting dust instead of generating it. This is a great sander from rough to finish work, and hook and loop has saved me a lot of time when I have had to change out paper on a regular basis, and the edges of the paper seem to hold up better than that on the self adheasive. Not only that, I have had a hard time finding 8 hole 5" PSA paper at the local hardware stores. My only complaint is that the dust bag doesn't collect much dust before a small cloud begins to form around the sander. I am now looking at going down to the local Dewalt repair shop and see if I can get the hook and loop base for my DW420.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great sander for the money
Another great tool from Dewalt. Bought this tool 2 weeks ago and put it to the test immediately. I sanded over 20 cabinet doors, some sheetrock, and rusting metal in that time and everything came out flawless. The hook and loop style is great for quick changing of pads. The dust bag works poorly as with any other woodworking tool(as should be expected) and should be hooked up to a vacuum system. I like this model cause parts are meant to be replaced, which means this tool should last for a long time with some minor maintenance. It only has one speed but unless you are utterly devoted to sanding it should be all you need. The only thing I could see swirl marks was on the metal but not many people are going to use this to sand metal so it shouldn't matter. After the abuse this sander took in it's first 2 weeks with the results I achieved I know what brand of sanders I will get from now on.

1-0 out of 5 stars palm sanders
my psa dewalt palm sanders have about 2000 hours on it and i love them ! My new hook and loop palm sander has about 100 hours and i am ready to throw away the hook and loop pad . Hook and loop costs about twice as much but lasts half as long as psa. Psa cuts a lot faster and costs a lot less. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Save some coin with a Porter Cable refurb!
My wife and I had the ambitious plan of finishing our basement. Since neither of us had any experience with home construction or woodworking, we decided that in order to do this right, we needed the right tools.

Considering the amount of framing we needed to do, a framing nailer was going to be a valuable tool. Being an important part of the process, I was concerned that a reconditioned tool might not be a good buy. I reviewed the details and as far as Porter Cable is concerned, a PC reconditioned tool has the same factory warranty as one fresh from the factory. Previous good experiences with PC tools helped me make the decision to get the FR350AR.

The nailer arrived in a large black plastic case. It came with a manual and a small bottle of machine oil. An inspection of the tool showed a little surface wear, probably from being put down on concrete or other abrasive surfaces, but PC molded sacrificial ridges on the tool body that take most of the abuse. The magazine mechanism was in good shape. It looked like the touched up some of the paint where it might have been chipped. All in all it was in excellent condition.

Saturday finally came and I was able to give the FR350AR a workout. I hooked it up to my PC pancake compressor that comes with the extremely popular brad/finish nailer kit, dialed in an initial pressure of 100 psi and hooked it up to the tool. There was a small hiss as the tool pressurized and was ready to go. I put on my safety gear and grabbed a stick of 3" ring plastic collated nails that I picked up from the neighborhood Lowe's. Nails are inserted from the rear of the magazine and pushed towards the front. You then grab the follower and pull it towards the back of the magazine and while still holding it, let it pull itself forward, pushing the nails into the firing mechanism.

While using the plastic tip, I pushed the tip against the 2x4 up on the ceiling joints and pulled the trigger. I heard a 'pop' with a little recoil and a nail was sunk 1/8" into the 2x4. The next test came when I started installing the studs. I removed the plastic tip to expose the spiked safety foot and put the plastic tip into the holder in the magazine. With the stud all centered, I placed the tip at a 45 degree angle and inch from the base of the stud and pulled the trigger. I nail shot into the stud and down into the base plate. It was left sticking out of the wood about 3/8 of an inch, enough to get at in case I needed to remove it. Excellent! The PC FR350AR will stop firing when you are down to four nails left in the magazine so you realize you need a refill. Insert more nails, readjust the follower and you were off and running again.

The pancake compressor seemed to do a good job holding up against the work I was doing with the nailer. I had it outside with a long hose run into the basement, so I couldn't hear it running. I didn't get any complaints from my neighbors so it must not have been running very often.

I only have two complaints with this nailer:

1) Although the tool is pretty balanced in my hand, the grip isn't spongy enough for my palm. The area between my thumb and forefinger was sore after all the nailing was done.

2) The plastic collation bits come shooting out of the nailer (from where exactly, I am not sure) and landed all around. I did find many bits in my hair afterwards so watch out for them.

Overall, I am extremely pleased with how well this reconditioned framing nailer has worked so far. I have plenty more work for it, so I will post an update another time for some long-term observations. ... Read more

: When it comes to recip saws, Milwaukee is the undisputed king, the "Sawzall" name serving almost as a generic label for all reciprocating saws (to Milwaukee's chagrin, we're sure). The flattery is completely deserved, especially in this case. Cordless convenience couples with Milwaukee's know-how for one of the finest recips on the market. It's incredibly well-balanced, powerful and yet easy to handle. The Power Plus battery offers improved run time over standard batteries, and time is money. We love the steel Quik-Lok blade clamp system, which lets you change out blades in a flash and without any tools. For safety, there's a lock-off trigger speed control that prevents an accidental startup. And like Milwaukee's other Sawzalls, if you're in a tight space, you can flip the blade over for close-quarter cuts. This is definitely the tool for the busy contractor. It may be a little spendy for the home do-it-yourselfer, but it's worth every penny.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars I think the last reviewer got a bad one.
The previous reviewer of the Milwaukee 6515 18v Sawzall must have obtained one manufactured on a Monday morning or something. I do not own this saw myself, but I have frequently borrowed it from a co-worker and have been very impressed. Battery life is surprisingly decent, and the saw performs nearly as well as its plug-in counterpart. It's a bit pricey though, costing around twice as much as a corded saw.

2-0 out of 5 stars Did I Get A Bad One?
I bought this saw based on Milwaukee's reputation and the satisfaction I have had with their electric tools. This recip saw is no comparison to my DeWalt. It has no battery life and seems to lack the power of the DeWalt. Even when fully charged it seems to struggle through the work piece. Possibly a bad battery because I'm sure that Milwaukee would not intentionaly produce something which posesses the lack of quality as displayed in my saw. ... Read more

What a beauty! One of the lightest framing nailersavailable, this DeWalt weighs in at just 7-1/2 pounds but packs awallop, sending nails into even the hardest woods with minimalrecoil. Dry fire lockout prevents this workhorse from firingempty, and should it jam up, you'll be working again in no timethanks to DeWalt's well-engineered quick-release jam-clearingmechanism. You can change the depth of the drive in a jiffy, too,and without tools. (You have to love that!) As with DeWalt'sother nailers, you receive both bump and sequential actiontriggers with your purchase. The magazine is angled at 31degrees, and combined with its 12-3/4-inch height, you cantoenail in the tightest spots. A reversible rafter/belt loop is anice touch, and DeWalt also tosses in a bottle of oil and somevery cool-looking safety glasses. 4-0 out of 5 stars Pretty good nailer
I read many reviews before buying a new framer and it was between this one and the paslode. My company builds lots of decks and new homes, so this gun gets a workout. It has worked alongside a couple of paslodes now for about 6 months. It is excellently balance and powered. My only complaint is that after working through the winter in severe cold, it needed a full overhaul (under warranty thankfully) for the seals and O-rings while the paslodes kept right at it. Overall, a great gun, just hope it does not need seals every six months.

3-0 out of 5 stars Only does half the job it is meant to do
When I purchased this gun it seemed to be a winner.Light, powerful , great features. It wasn`t untill I loaded the gun with a new box of 8`s to bang out a sheathing job. This gun will not shoot any brand of 8`s strip nails , tried them all.It seems like the spring holding the strip nails has too much force and buches them together , jamming the gun after three shots. It does shoot 10`s excellent with ease , but for [money], it does half the job of any other nail gun.Try a friends before you buy one....

5-0 out of 5 stars A Framer's delight
This is a sturdy, well-made gun that fires 3 1/4 and 2 1/2 inch
clipped heads with equal tenacity. The bump-trigger is very light and I can easily rat-a-tat if I'm not quick off of the "bump". I might switch to a single selective trigger which comes packaged with the tool. Wish I had a carry-box or fabric bag that came with it. I'm ready to tackle several decks now just to feel it work. GREAT Tool !!! C.H. Josephs

5-0 out of 5 stars nice nailer
A case would have been nice. Some dewalt things come with a case and some don't, I guess. A air inlet connection would have been nice as well. I had to hunt down a connection in my compressor junk.... glad I had one. I don't have any framing nailers to compare this to so I'm not quallified to rate this item against the competition. The price was nice with the 50 dollar rebate. The air inlet area seems to be machined off center by design (perhaps to keep the airhose from being hit duing recoil), but this caught my eye right away as a flaw
because it just looks crooked(hell, let's face it, it is crooked). I love new tools, so I am overall glad to have purchased this nailer and look forward to nailing!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome Nailer
I've used proter cable for a long time and I was a bit nervious purchasing this nailer. I've framed 2 houses now in 3 months with this gun, and it is a champ. It has shot about 11 boxes (22,000 nails), It's been dropped from the 2nd story (twice) and generally been abused as most framing guns are, I mean Ive got a 2 x 12 in my other hand, im not setting the nailer down gently right? It gets dropped alot. I've had 3 jams where Ive had to pull off the magazine to clear the driver, thats 3 jams in 22,000 not bad. It just does what it's supose to all day everday, what more could you want? ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars It works!
It's crazy long and orange, but man, does it pack a powerful electric bite! All you have to do is plug the male side into an outlet, and then plug the other end into the appliance you want to run. It works like a charm! If I wanted to, I could plug in my desk lamp and walk 4 houses down, knock on the door, and be like, "Hey, look, my desk lamp still works at your house!" There's so many advantages to owning this technilogical wonder. Buy now!

5-0 out of 5 stars Works perfectly, just what we needed!
We bought an electric lawnmower and this extension cord off Amazon, and this cable works perfectly. It's just what we needed, and performs very well with our lawnmower. It's a 100' 12 guage extension cord. A cable reel would be a good buy along with this, we will get one eventually. No problems at all with this extension cable. Works just like hoped. A good buy, and free shipping!!

5-0 out of 5 stars A Little Giant Of A Paint Sprayer
The Wagner Paint Crew Model 770 is a super paint sprayer. It can spray latex paint straight from the can with a .015 tip.(I used Sears Weatherbeater Exterior Semi Gloss Latex). The instructions are well written and easy to follow.Setup is simple. It sprayed the paint smooth and evenly. I had no problems at all. I have read that some people had trouble with the pump loseing its prime and you could not have less than 1 gallon of paint in the hopper for it to work. I found no such problems. It was easy to pour the unused pain out of the hopper too. As far as cleanup is concerned you can spend as little or as much time in cleanup as you like. The basic cleanup of the hopper, pump, hose and gun does not take long. If you want to clean the exterior of the unit this will take longer. I didn't have that much exterior cleanup to do because I kept the unit as far from the work as I could and I put a big cardboard box over the unit to keep overspray off it. All in all for $199.00 this is as good as it gets.

4-0 out of 5 stars Not for small jobs- great for big ones!
I bought this unit to paint the interior of a 2200sf house. I found the following to be the pros and cons:

Pros:

- Quality. Well built with great materials and tight tolerances.
- Power. A strong, yet controlable spray.
- Good instructions (But...see below)
- Coverage. Once you get the technique down, which takes 5 minutes, you'll get the jist of things.
- 25ft. hose. Size DOES matter.

Cons:

- Awkward. You have to pick up and tilt the entire unit, pump and all to empty the hopper (the tank where the paint is kept).
- No pivoting connection between the hose and the spray gun. This makes twisting and getting into position sometimes difficult.
- Short electrical cord. Minor, but would 15 more feet cost too much?
- Directions. Not the written word, but the construction of the paper. When following them for cleaning or application, they get wet and stained and start to fall apart.
-Cleaning. Takes awhile and is messy, but I got the time down to 35 minutes. Can be tedious to do over and over again during the course of a day.

Wants and needs:

wheels, extra filter, better retail availability of parts, make the pivoting connection standard, include a specialized cleaning brush, detachable paint hopper, snap-on connection.

Overall, I found the unit to be well built for medium to large jobs, but just too much for a simple room or wall task. But, for the homeowner who will take on the occassional big job (I have to paint the exterior next Fall), this is ideal. Be sure to take your time and mask carefully!

2-0 out of 5 stars Not so happy
We recently purchased the Paint Crew and our intent was to spray paint our gazebo. Since my husband and I are not the brightest stars in the sky when it comes to instructions - I would say that overall the instruction information that is provided with the Paint Crew could have been written in an unknown foreign language since purging and priming mean about the same. After reading over the instructions - ease of assembly is commendable, we decided to fill-er-up and begin our project. Unfortunately, we didn't have the nozzle on right and what sounded like a nice start ended up a disaster. Every area that paint could fly - was coated including the floor. So we decided to call the "genius" our handy son-in law who has put sunrooms together and is very adept at handling power tools. Before we could even begin to figure out what we did wrong, the clean up took care of a good 3 hours. Now, we prime and purge and have the alotted pressure ready to go, and kaboom - the nozzle started leaking and because the prime was set - I practically threw my body into the bin just to get it off. Needless to say - I'm stuck - can't take it back cause all those flat shiny places are difficult to clean. Hey - if you know how to use paint sprayers, go for it. I just hope you live nearby and are spraying white - With brushes that gazebo will just have to take longer. The painter is clean and back in the box - I'm hoping someone will want to borrow it and can figure out how to get it to work. After reading the comments on this site - it might just be that we only used one gallon of paint. You might say we we doomed from the start, since it works better full. OH WELL -

4-0 out of 5 stars Overall very nice
I really liked this painter, especially after struggling with the earlier Wagner power painters.
As mentioned, the hopper design isn't the best and will not pump with less than 1 gallon in the hopper.
However, to me the cleanup issue, isn't bad. I just filled with water and "let her rip." Cleaned up beautifully. One thing you must do is take the sprayer apart and be sure to clean it's filter very well. I suspect failure to do this was the cause of some of the reviewers problems.
I would definitely recommend this product, especially for less than 200 bucks.

2-0 out of 5 stars VERY Disappointed
This unit may be great to those who are not overly familiar with airless paint sprayers but I have used a number of them and this unit is by far THE worst. I almost didn't buy it to begin with but at $199 price point I thought I'd give it a try. I'm just glad I got my money back! The hopper design is inherently a terrible idea. I assume Wagner did this to try to cut cost in some way but believe me, it wasn't worth it. The hopper "holds" three gallons but you have to refill it every two gallons because it gets poor suction with the last gallon and loses pressure. I don't care if the hopper holds 10 gallons. If I have to refill it every two gallons in order to make it work then who cares what it "holds"? And I cannot stress what a nightmare the unit was to clean. Look at the other reviewers of this unit and how they describe it. They are NOT exagerating! And Wagner may try to make it look like it is easy pouring paint out of the hopper and back into a bucket but I'd bet my life the actors are pouring an empty unit and then graphic artists drew in the paint on those pictures! Furthermore, and this is just a sore spot with me anyway, the unit was built in China. That probably explains the low cost too.

Before I mention the last straw that had me dragging the unit back for a refund, let me mention some positive comments. It had good pressure and the gun was metal though it is of an older design (using up old stock maybe?) and the hose was 25'.

Now, the doozey that caused me to lose it. I had used it twice and was now on my third project when the unit just lost all pressure. When I walked over to the unit I noticed paint coming out of the pump. The piston packing had failed! I called a service center and they didn't have the parts to fix it and said they would have to send it back to get it fixed. So I carried it back to the store (probably can't mention it here) and got a refund and painted the rest of the job with my roller brush. I was already disappointed in the product so this was just the icing on the cake.

But the story does get better. First, I love the higher end pumps but have difficulty paying $400+ dollars for a good sprayer. I had almost settled on the idea that you can't get a good sprayer for less than $300 when I saw an add in a flier (won't mention it because I didn't buy it at Amazon) for a Campbell Hausfeld airless sprayer for $229. The pressure is a little lower (2500psi instead of 2750psi) but the pressure is also adjustable. Which is VERY good when spraying stains and you don't want 2750psi due to misting problems. This unit (it's called the HousePainter) adjusts from 0psi up to 2500psi so you can tune in the desired spray finish you want. Also, you can attach a roller brush to it and you can roll with it, something you can't do with the PaintCrew. But the best thing of all it that it is not a hopper design. It pulls paint straight out of a one or five gallon bucket. The clean up was very fast. Just put the suction tube into a bucket of water and it circulates itself and cleans it up. Two bad points to the HousePainet though. First, it comes with 20' of hose instead of 25' and second, the power cord is only 2' long. However, I have always needed an extension cord anyway so that it not that big of a deal. Oh, and I also noticed it was "assembled in the USA". Not quite as good as "made in the USA" but it's better than seeing that slogan "made in China" that is plastered on the PaintCrew. Thank you Campbell Hausfeld for at least keeping some jobs in the USA!

I did notice that the HousePainter is now being sold here at Amazon.com for only $199. (just search Amazon for Campbell Hausfeld and you should find it. Model # EZ5000) It turns my stomach that I paid $229 elsewhere but even at $229 I was glad I bought it. I don't know the life yet as I've only painted with it twice but so far this unit is way better than the PaintCrew on both clean up, pressure adjusting and the fact that I can hook a roller brush up to it and roll paint inside the house is priceless. Saves money on having to buy a separate roller unit. I suppose I will now need to write a review for the HousePainter as well. But anyway, pay heed to all these reviews that talk about the cleaning problems. It's a nightmare and we do have a choice for another unit at the same price that is easier to clean and can actually do MORE than just SPRAY paint at ONE pressure. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great deal on a planer
I have used this planer primarily on doors in my house. In particular, I've found it long enough to get the start and end of the edge planed without "clipping" the edge. I'm not an expert door-hanger -- but it has easily paid for itself in saved labor costs.

A few words of advice on (interior doors). Plane when your house is MOST humid (usually in the summer) as the doors expand and you want them to close easily when they are most expanded. Be sure to plane an extra 1/64" or so to allow yourself a gap for a primer and at least one if not two finished coats of paint on the side edge of your doors. As for the tops and bottoms, leave them unpainted to allow the wood to dry if they are new doors, otherwise, a matching primer is more than enough and you need not bother with a finish coat of paint. Unless your doors is really badly off, you will not need to re-seat the hardware, but be prepared to if necessary. But before you start, make sure all of your hinge plates are on tight. No use taking a plane to a door if the problem is not the size of the door, but loose hingest. If so, replace the hinge screws with longer ones, and be sure to pre-drill the holes first to prevent cracking the door or jamb wood.

This tool beats hand planing allowing you to complete a door in just a few minutes. It will take you more time to get the door off and remove the hardware than to plane the edges. Adjustments are easy. I found this tool to be almost identical to the Makita planer which I borrowed prior to purchasing this one. ... Read more

If you're looking to add a solid, reliable cordless impact wrench to your tool crib, the heavy-duty, 3/8-inch, DeWalt DW051K-2 12-volt cordless impact wrench might be worth considering. This mid-level impact wrench has everything you'll need to loosen and tighten tough bolts and drive fasteners through metal, concrete and wood surfaces. Plus, it's small enough (6-1/2 inches long and 3.5 pounds) to get into places larger units with comparable features simply cannot reach. But don't let its size fool you. Under that slight exterior beats the heart of a workhorse. The wrench churns out a whopping 1,200 in./lbs. of maximum torque with speeds ranging from 0-2,400 rpm and 0-3,000 bpm. The unit features an all-metal transmission, a durable magnesium gear case and a 3/8-inch hog ring anvil that accepts impact sockets with ease. A textured, anti-slip comfort grip provides ultimate comfort and stability. A specially designed impacting mechanism reduces kickback -- and fatigue. And a variable-speed trigger switch with electric brake means better overall control.--Carl Thress ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars great tool
I am a professional mechanic and have used many cordless impact drivers. This is the best I have run across. I wish it was 14.4 volt so it would use the same batteries as drill but that is my only complaint. Plenty of power will break non impact sockets and small bolts beware. Lightweight and powerful. I will buy 18volt 1/2" impact in future when funds allow.
My recomendation BUY IT!

1-0 out of 5 stars Beware from where you purchase this item
Beware of purchasing this or similar items from Amazon. I inadvertently ordered the wrong item and when I went to cancel my order less than 30 minutes later, they said I could not because it was being prepared for shipping. Still is 2 days later by the way. When I went to their return section, they said that this item could not be returned. Why does someone sell you something that cannot be returned to them?? Now I am stuck with an item that cannot be used and cost me a pretty penny to boot or of course I can sell it on Amazon myself, for less and pay the shipping. Go to the stores so you know what you are dealing with. Sure would be nice if they disclosed prior to purchasing that the item can not be returned.

5-0 out of 5 stars DeWalt 12v Cordless Impact 3/8 drive
This cordless impact is very impressive, not only does it have
100 lbs of torque, it's light weight and compact.

4-0 out of 5 stars Why not an 18-Volt Version DeWalt?
This isn't so much a review about this 12-Volt unit as it is a critique on DeWalts decision not to provide an 18-Volt version to their loyal customers. DeWalt markets their 12V and 14.4V Cordless Impact Wrench Kits, but what about one for their ever popular 18-Volt line??? Personally, I prefer to save and standardize whenever possible, hence my decision to stick with their 18-Volt line of cordless tools. Standardizing to a 18V battery allows all of my batteries to work with all of my cordless tools. The power of their 18V units pack enough strength to handle just about any job. Why not offer that with their 1/2" impact wrench line? Especially when you consider the work an impact wrench does. If DeWalt is testing the market to see if Cordless Impact Wrenches will sell by putting out 12 and 14.4V versions, it would seem the wrong way to go. These tools (Impact Wrenches) aren't the meat and potatoes of tool manufacturer's lines, and I would hate to see DeWalt discontinue making them due to low sales, because of folks like myself who are going to wait for the real tool (an 18V version) to hit the market. ...
