Routers don't get any bigger and tougher than this Hitachi workhorse. It has the solidconstruction, horsepower, and features we've come to expect in a top-of-the-line router.Its heft goes a long way toward eliminating vibration, working with the soft-start motorto cut out torque at startup. Despite its nearly 12 pounds, it actually handles as well asmost 3-1/4-horsepower routers we've tried in freehand applications. It has a 1/2-inchcollet and a wide sub-base opening, making it suitable for working with all but the verybiggest panel bits. It features electronic variable speed, so the router makes clean cuts in awide range of different materials. We found the controls to be within easy reach of thehandles, and though this isn't the quietest router we've used, it comes pretty close. Welike the unique eight-position handles that let the tool be adjusted to the worker ratherthan the other way around. Great Router
This is one of the best routers on the market. The bits are easy to change if you have it table mounted. The power is great and very little difference with the load on the motor when cutting hardwoods. Above the table the router out performs all of the routers in it's class. Porter-Cable's 12-inch dovetail machine is a great, sturdy little tool, perfect for smaller (desk-drawer-size) projects. The machine sports a self-aligning edge guide and built-in slots at the base for mounting the device to your favorite workbench or table. This machine makes dove tail joints a whole lot easier with my router. All you have to do is put the stock in one end clamp it, and setup your router and away you go! You have dove tails cut in the end of the piece of wood with ease. I found this product pretty useful. ... Read more
